We had an excellent time staying in this apartment; it was close to major tourist spots, comfortable, well equipped and perfect for our family (two adults, five kids). Dealing with the owner was easy, and our security deposit was retruend immediately. A couple of transparency points, neither of which impacted on our stay at all. 1. It's not on the Upper East Side, it's in Long Island City. This is actually a better location for the city as it's one stop to Grand Central, three to Times Square on the / train. 2. The pool is outdoor, and only opens in the summer months. Thoroughly recommended.

Our family of four visited NYC for Spring Break 2012. This property fit our needs perfectly. The subway is close -- and one stop from Midtown, restaurants and grocery are nearby, and the accomodations comfortable and classy. Would come back for any future stay!

Location was great with only a few short minutes to the 7 train, making it easy to get in and out of Manhattan. Terrific grocery store across the street and a drug store and wine store right beside that gave us everything we needed. The loft was just was advertised. High ceilings, good sized bedrooms and two baths made it idea for a family of four. Very clean and well maintained making the family feel very at home. We hope to rent again and would easily choose this property if we did.

We really enjoyed our stay! The condo was clean, comfortable, and spacious...great for our 14 and 16 year old! The fitness room is awesome. After spending most of the day touring and sight seeing, it was so nice to go back to the quiet area the condo is in. We did all our traveling via subway. The subway stop is so close to the condo and 1 stop to Grand Central! We tried to watch the ball drop at Time Square but the crowds were too much, so we went back to the condo and watched the ball drop in the comforts of the cozy living room:) I would definitely go back to this condo and highly recommend it.
Owner response:First, we identify and express the essence of our brand; then we ensure that essence is reflected at every guest touch point –on-line, off-line, in our property, in the bed, in the bathroom, in our gym, at play in the neighborhood, on the boardwalk across the street.

Great location, view and accessibility to subway. Clean, modern building with helpful staff and amenities. The apartment was well stocked. The sofa bed was not as comfortable as stated ( at all) . Overall the apartment could have been cleaner ( not spotless as some are) I bet the pool is awesome in the summer :)
Owner response:Everything we do is tasteful and fun. With its high ceilings, oldie records on the walls, key mosaic-musical instruments, vintage commercial signage, the place is grand and mysterious yet relaxed and idiosyncratic.

Just returned from a family vacation in NYC. The Riverview apartment is very easy to get to from the airport - just a short car ride away. It is in a very new and clean building with a great higher end food store just across the street. The pictures on the HomeAway website are recent, so what you see is what you get. You will not be dissapointed. The apartment is spacious and very confortable. You will be staying in a real NY neighborhood with unique restaurants and small shops. The neighborhood is safe and trendy with many professionals living in the area. You can walk to the subway stop in five minutes. Grand Central station is just one subway stop away and on the second stop you will be in the center of everything - Times Square. The inkeepers provide excellent customer service. Check-in was very easy and so was checkout. Overall, I highly recommend this apartment for your next trip to New York City.
Owner response:We are the next generation of luxury accommodations. More space, a fully equipped kitchen, flexible calendar and nearby (one block away) stores, train, restaurants, that enhance your experience whenever you are with us. We encourage you to live rather than just stay.

This apartment was absolutely perfect! Very clean, bright and comfortable. We were a party of 5 and had a wonderful time in New York. But most of all, when getting back to the apartment, only 5 minutes from Grand Central Station, we were entering a peaceful world. No noise, no traffic. It was really a wonderful place and we surely would recommend it.

We would thoroughly recommend your lovely apartment, Dahlia, it was just perfect for us. We were 4 adults & 1 child and the layout was just what we were looking for. Very clean, (very important!), and thank you for the gift basket; a lovely touch. It's just a 5 minute walk to the subway, which was only a couple of stops to Times Square. We had breakfast most mornings at the Dorian Cafe, situated right beside the subway. There's a grocery store just opposite the appt and the boardwalk close by has an amazing view of the skyline. We really enjoyed staying there, and if you choose to stay there I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as us. We booked Roberto to drive us back to Newark airport, his number is listed in the info in the appt. We live in Livingston in Scotland and we brought our daughter to NY for her 11th birthday on 11/11/11, a surprise gift, and she just loved NY. We'll definately be coming back. Kindest regards, Margaret.
Owner response:I am so pleased that you chose our place to stay as a surprise visit to NY. I really wanted you to feel a place that was chic and homey. Glad we came through. Hope to see you again soon.

I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant experience. I went to new york for a weekend with my girlfriends and felt completely at home. Dahlia's place was SOO comfortable and well-furnished! The area was beautiful and we felt very safe. The train station was conveniently close and there was a grocery store right next door. We were able to cook and enjoy a nice dinner while staying there! Dahlia was easy to get a hold of and very accommodating. The next time I'm in New York, I'm staying here.

We absolutely loved the apartment! Exactly as described and very clean and new. A mom and dad with four girls (ages 12 to 20) to get ready made the two bathrooms a key to our successful trip. The location was ideal for a very short and easy walk to the Subway station. Easily saw the whole city via subway (bought Metrofare Cards for $29 each and rode the subway unlimited). It felt like home while we were there and very safe. We parked our car in the garage directly across the street for $14/day. We made a lot of use of the food shop directly across the street (below the parking garage) to get fresh fruit/veggies/snacks. There was a nice wine shop with great selection and prices just down from the food shop, too. I would absolutely return for another stay. Thank you!!

My husband and I love to go to NYC for a vacation every few years and have always stayed in hotels in Manhattan hotels. This year however, we brought our two daughters and son-in-law and needed more room than what is offered in a hotel so we rented Dahlia's apartment and did not regret it at all. The apartment was clean and quiet with lots of room for the 5 of us. It was very convenient to Manhatten (1 subway stop away). We loved the convenience of the organic food store across the street to buy our breakfast and the lovely, quiet neighborhood and great restaurants. We really enjoyed the walks at night along the river and the skyline view of Manhattan. Thank you Dahlia and Marvin for the stay. We would highly recommend your lovely apartment.

My wife and I took our 15yr old son and his friend to New York and rented this apartment. It was fantastic. The location is superb and only a couple of minutes from a Subway so nothing is very far away! The apartment was modern and clean, as well as being very well fitted out with spacious bedrooms and living area. The outside space was also great for relaxing, particularly after a busy day doing the tourist thing! The area had a real atmosphere of being a relaxed neighbourhood where it was safe to walk about in the evenings as well as the daytime and the views of Manhattan as shown in the description are spot on! We didn't get the chance to try out the various nearby restaurants but they all seemed busy enough, so I can only guess they are doing something right. There is the nearby supermarket which sells the ususal grocery items, but also sells hot food and salads, so worth bearing in mind if you don't want to eat out. If your visiting New York and want more space than a hotel as well some really good extras such as a gym, swimming pool and outdoor bbq area, then this is a must for you. We had a wonderful time in New York and this was in part due to the excellent apartment in which we were comfortable and could relax. Many thanks.
Owner response:Dearest Andy and family, We are so pleased you had a great stay at our place. We strive to give our guests a 5 star accommodation. It is through your feedback and our own travels that we learn how to give our guests a cool, chic and modern place to stay. We hope to see you again very soon. Warmest, Dahlia and Mervin Klein

We loved this apartment just across the East River from Manhattan. We were just three subway stops from Time Square and yet the apartment was calm and peaceful allowing us to recharge our batteries with a good nights sleep but be near to everything. The views at the back of the apartment building of the Manhattan skyline and the Empire State building are fantastic and breath taking at night. The apartment was spotless and very comfortable - a great kitchen and the store literally across the road has everything including a fantastic salad bar and hot food and pizza bar. We picked up a picnic from there one day and took it to central park - we recommend this for a day out if the weather is good. If you go up to the top of the Empire State building you can actually see the apartment building - amazing! We cannot stress how convenient the apartment is for everything, the subway is clean and safe and easy to navigate. We were also in a good place for going to see the NY Mets play baseball at their stadium - we loved this experience - a great family outing and although as an English family I'm not sure we understood the rules the evening was brilliant and the crowds very entertaining. Stay there - you'll love it!

We rented this beautiful loft for a week over New Year 2011 and can honestly say that is even better than the website suggests! Fantastic location 3 minutes to the Subway, amazing grocery store across the street, close to quality restaurants and bars and the loft itself is totally comfortable! The neighbourhood is safe and friendly, we walked comfortably about late at night (despite the snow!). There were four of us - my wife and I plus our daughter and her husband - and we had heaps of room. It is fully equipped and Dahlia and Mervin are super hosts, the courtesy call to ask how we were going was much appreciated, as was the fresh fruit, the free phone and WiFi. If you are holidaying in New York and don't have a vehicle, then this is the place you want. You can rent with confidence!

We had a wonderful stay in Dalia and Mervin's apartment. The apartment is very clean, homey, and comfortable, and it's in very convenient location. An organic market is just cross the street and subway is only a few blocks away. There are plenty space for five of us, my husband, my Mom, my sister in law, and my 17 years old nephew. Everyone loves the place and definitely likes to stay again if we visit NY in the future. Thank Dalia and Mervin for making our NY trip so pleasant and memorable.

We just stayed at this amazing apartment November 2010. It is pristine on the inside, the building is perfect and secure, and the grocery store across the street makes living very easy. It is one stop away from Grand Central Station, so no car is needed! We had my mom, my wife, and our two kids (ages 9y, 7y) in the apartment and had plenty of room for everybody. We ate an excellent dinner at a nearby Italian restaurant (I believe it was called Bella Vie? Or something similar to that). The apartment is in a perfect location to launch exploration in the city--we did the Natural History Museum, Central Park, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Statue of Liberty, Times Square/Broadway, Mary Poppins, Rockefeller Center, and Dylan's Candy Bar with no trouble at all! Dahlia was very pleasant and accomodating--we arrived very early in the AM after a redeye flight from Arizona, and for a small fee we got into the apartment with no trouble at about 0800 so we were able to breakfast and snack prior to heading out to explore. Definitely recommend Jorge, the towncar driver recommended by Dahlia! He picked us up on-time at the airport, knows the city very well, and took us to Penn Station in the pouring rain with no trouble at all. $35 from airport to apartment, $30 from apartment to Penn Station. All in all we highly recommend this apartment.

The views across the river from the shore were amazing. Thoroughly recommended.

Stayed at this wonderful, clean and comfortable apartment for two weeks in August. Not only is this a fantastic home from home, it provides the holiday maker with an easy jaunt into Manhattan (five mins walk to Subway another five and you're at Times Square). We also felt looked after and totally welcome. Dahlia and Melvin left us a lovely welcoming card, food in the fridge, plus cookies and fruit basket (plus various gifts). They even (without request) sent us a new remote for the TV! The building has a sundeck and a pool, is right next to shops and you only have to walk literally round the corner to see the stunning Manhattan skyline in all it's glory. The Kleins also phoned us a couple of times to make sure we were okay and there were no problems. The people in Long Island City were friendly and the restaurants great and not too expensive. In this area alone, there are loads of places to choose from... I'd recommend The Riverside Restaurant (for a big meal) on the waterfront and Kranky's near the subway (for light bites). In the evenings there were peformances of opera and Jazz on the waterfront as well as free open air movies in the park. As for Manhattan itself. It's just awesome. It's best to start by doing the Grayline open air bus tours. They take you everywhere... all over the island and to Brooklyn, so you can decide where you'd particularly like to visit. After this, we did the usual touristy stuff...the Empire State, Liberty Island, the Met... a broadway show ('Wicked'). All were amazing. Being TV fans we also took in Kenny Kramer's Seinfeld Reality Tour, The HBO Soprano's tour of Jersey and the NBC studio tour. At Caroline's Comedy Club on Broadway we saw the best of established and up and coming comedy stars along with being treated like celebrities ourselves. Places to eat ...just too numerous.. but if I had to pick favourites... The Oyster Bar Restaurant in Grand Central station (one of the most magnificent buildings in New York) and the open air restaurant in Rockerfeller Plaza were amazing and for breakfast the old fashioned diner opposite Grand Central. We also adored seeing the Louie Armstrong Museum in Queens which is in the Jazzmeister's old house. So, would I recommend staying here? YES. Would I recommend New York as a whole? YES! Would I come again with my family? YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT!. Many thanks to our hosts and to New York ( truly the greatest of cities) from Pete Bev Louie and Kate from Manchester UK.

5 of us stayed at the condo the first week of August in 2010. We found it clean, comfortable and spacious for NYC. We enjoyed our stay very much and everything is accurate with the listing. We only had a slight problem with the garbage disposal in the sink as we could not get it to turn on. Otherwise, everything else we used was in excellent condition. We enjoyed the rooftop recreation area as well as the gym. Dahlia was gracious and responsive with emails and the hosts really helped to make it a wonderful experience. We all said we would stay there again and would recommend the place to any of our family and friends. There are local markets nearby for groceries, a few restaurant options as well and of course close to the subway. The first exit in Queens out of Manhatten is the exit for this location. The neighborhood felt relatively safe, even at night which is important for out of town travelers.
Owner response:Our guests often stay with us for a month or more, allowing them time to feel part of New York City - to explore all that it has to offer. Our party consisted two adults and two teenage boys. We'd looked at hotel options, but all meant spending mega-bucks, or sharing a room. Frankly, sharing a bedroom and bathroom with two teenage boys filled me with horror, so we took the apartment option. The Loft is a short 20-25 minute cab ride from JFK (by far the nearest airport) and cost about $40 including tip. The surrounds of the apartment block are great. A safe, clean and friendly community. One block from the Subway - literally 7-10 mins into Grand Central. We found a great diner to eat at near the apartment block - which was also frequented by the local NYPD, which we took to be a recommendation :) The apartment itself is everything the photographs suggest it's going to be. Bright and airy and well appointed with lots of little extras - including the L'Occtaine toiletries and sweet bowl. Dahlia and Mervin had left some organic fruit along with the welcome pack, which was a nice touch. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of hanging and drawer space for our clothes. The kitchen was well appointed and was stocked with staples like sugar, olive oil, spices and herbs, tea and coffee. Although we didn't use the washer/drier, if our trip had been longer, we would have appreciated it being available. Dahlia and Mervin were a dream to deal with. They answered my endless questions before we arrived in NY and were able to help us arrange for our luggage to be looked after following check out and before our flight (we had to leave the apartment at 11am, but our flight wasn't until late evening). George, who the Kleins recommended, met us with our luggage in Manhattan and drove us to the airport. As there's nowhere to leave left luggage in Manhattan post 9/11 having our bags taken care of by a reliable person was a real bonus. With such a short trip, we didn't get a chance to use the gym, games room or pool. However, we did have a look at the gym and it was really well appointed - with the quanities of food served in the US, if we'd been there longer I would definitely have hit the gym :) All in all, a great experience and one I'd definitely recommend to friends and family. Book with confidence :)

We picked this apartment based on great reviews, great pictures, and good conversation with Dahlia regarding our reservations. She was quick to return our phone call and was very honest from the first call when the apartment was not available during the days we wanted. She kept her word and called back as she said she would if the apratment opened up. Great dialogue on the phone and via emails. Great package of information a few days prior helping us to plan where to get food and other items we needed. Subway was close by and in a very safe neighborhood. Apartment was better than pictures can describe, great everything. Elevators were quick, beds were very comfortable, dishwasher and washer and dryer all more a plus. Great welcome basket upon arrival to apartment and Loctaine products were very nice and saved on the packing This was a great apartment for the 5 of us. We will plan to stay here again

What a wonderful place to stay! Where to begin?? Well firstly the apartment looks gorgeous, the moment you open the door....wow! Everything was provided, Dahlia even left a lovely notebook so that we could record our memories, so kind. Some food had even been thoughtfully provided. The apartment was spotlessly clean, and the beds very comfortable. Just across the road ( literally ) there is a supermarket and a pharmacy. Public transport is only a very short stroll away. In all honesty I have to say that we would definately stay there again, without hesitation. Dahlia was extremely easy to deal with, I even called her on the way to the apartment to get directions for the taxi driver!! And as a nice touch , Mervin called and made sure we were happy with everything. An overall fabulous experience!!!

What an incredible stay for a girls getaway!!! The photos on the website don't do it justice. We were completely amazed and appreciative with all of the fine details in the apartment. It was such a great experience feeling like we were true New Yorkers. Staying across the river was even better than I imagined...couldn't believe the views on the riverfront!! And so easy to get into Manhattan. Our stay was just perfect and we thank you a billion times over. BTW, your driver George was the most incredible driver we've ever had! He had some tricky maneuvers up his sleeve (like going in reverse down the onramp) because of a terrible accident on the freeway that would have forced us to miss the flight. We got to Jfk with ample time and arrived safely. Thanks again....I can't wait to come back....and maybe this time, I'll bring my husband and child :)
Owner response:Many years ago, set out to create a corporate mission statement in which our goals, beliefs and principles are the foundation of the work we do for our guests. To receive wonderful guest feedback of this kind, is evidence that we are meeting the terms of our mission statement

We had a great time in New York The flat was very confortable. The facilties were good with the roofdeck, barbeque, swimming pool and gym. It was located in a nice area with a local Foodmarket just across the road. There are plenty of restaurants, diners and delis two blocks away. Also the subway is very near and takes you into Grand Central and Times Square. Overall this is a great place to stay to see New York. John Sandeman and Family

My wife and I spent a week in this beautiful loft and enjoyed it a lot. It was our first vacation without our kids after many years and it was the right place to choose. It is quite another experience than in a hotel with lots of space and a nice and quit environment. Highly recommendable! Dahlia and Mervin were extremely helpful, especially when my wife lost her passport the day we went back to Germany. With their help we could get a new one within two hours!

Dahlia and Mervin, thank you so much for the absolutely amazing stay we had at your condo! We stayed for a week in mid March. Anyone should consider this condo for their next visit!!! We were 4 adults and had plenty of room. It was immaculate and such a pleasure to be so close to everything. The view is amazing, the neighborhood fantastic. Cannot wait to stay again! Hotels in the city cannot even come close to comparing to this condo.
Owner response:We succeed when every decision is based on a clear understanding of and belief in what we do.

For a family break to New York this was a wonderful appartment and met our expectations entirely. The appartment is large, airy, full of light and has wonderful views over the Manhattan skyline. The property was very clean and well maintained. It was centrally located only 7 minutes walk from the underground and in a further 5 minutes you can be in the centre of New York close to all the major attractions and shops. It was a tranquil retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There was a huge organic market across the road which sold every type of food imaginable and was incredibly useful after a long day out sightseeing. Dahlia was very helpful throughout. We would thoroughly recommend this appartment to anyone and would be delighted to make a return visit at some time in the future.

VRBO 17799 Thank you to Dahlia & Mervin for your gracious hospitality. I recommend this beautiful & immaculate condo to any New York travelers. Our group was 4 retired women coming to the "City" to see the Christmas lights. What a pleasure, after site seeing to come back to the condo & relax. The beds were very comfortable, even the couch. The organic market, just across the street, had everything we needed foodwise & there is a drug store just up the block. You will not be disappointed if you choose to stay here. Absolute luxury !
Owner response:In all our interactions with our guests we seek to deal with them as we would have them deal with us.

We (4) enjoyed our stay in the ideally located apartment. Dahlia managed the "paperwork" quickly and professionally and Mervin walked the extra mile to provide a bouquet of roses - we really appreciated that. Always again, thanks.

We (me and 4 friends) stayed at the loft apartment at the end of October 2008. From leaving the apartment you can be in Grand Central Station in under 10 minutes. Ideally located. We could not of found a better place to stay! Dahlia and Mervin went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our stay for the week and the L'Occitane toiletries in the apartment were a lovely extra bonus. A very spacious, clean and light apartment with everything provided to ensure that we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. For anyone who is looking to stay in New York I would have no hesitation recommending this apartment. We will definitely be back soon!!
Owner response:Special, wonderful guests from the United Kingdom! We are always thrilled to make new friends, from near and afar! THANK YOU for choosing us!

What a place to be!We (three girlfriends, age 25-29) were staying at the loft in the middle of September 2008 and it was absolutely perfect!Everything was very convenient, clean and lovely furnished. The pictures on the website show the truth of the appartement. Everything you need is there: Besides the lovely products of L’Occitane there is also a hairdryer (which we forgot to bring). The location for sightseeing in Manhattan is just perfect, very close to the subway station where you can reach the train to Manhattan (takes you about 5-10 minutes, depends on where you want to go).We never had a more relaxing sightseeing trip before we have found that loft.We can just recommend that very beautiful, luxury loft. Definitely, for our next stay in New York we would love to come back! Thanks to both of you, Dahlia and Mervin, that we could make that experience at your appartement.Best wishes,Stephanie and friends (Switzerland)

We were looking for some where to stay for a week for 5 people (2adults + 3 teenagers) where we could effectively explore New York from. We were delighted we chose this one!It is a new, open plan, loft style apartment with 2 bedrooms, a great shower room, separate toilet and laundry room. All very clean with bedding and towels provided. The large lounge has two sofa beds that sleep one teenager each, with a fully equipped kitchen with breakfast bar. There is a TV, free local phone calls and free wireless internet (we found taking a small laptop for on-the-fly evening research purposes invaluable). There is a small swimming pool (with friendly life guard for impromptu games) a fitness room and great sun terrace for relaxing on. The owners, Dahlia and Mervin, who don’t live on site, were incredibly friendly and helpful. The apartment is in a large new purpose built building in (for us) a safe area, 3 minutes walk from the subway that we used everyday, again safe. It's true you are only one stop from Manhattan (it goes under the East river), however what we discovered was the E train also goes all the way straight to Greenwich Village (about 20 minutes), which is where we found some great restaurants. Cornelia St Café, (downstairs they have live music), Johns Pizza on Bleeker St., and if you like Thai - Lime, plus lots of great food shops and bars as well.We wouldn’t recommend eating at the one walking distance restaurant we found, an Italian place called Da Gianni’s. Perhaps we caught them on an off night, but compared to what we found in Manhattan, not very good. We did find an excellent supermarket just down the road at 45th Ave and 23St.We really enjoyed our week in the apartment and would thoroughly recommend staying there.

My wife and I and our three teenagers had a wonderful time in this apartment. Very spacious and very clean, had everything you needed. The concierge were always on hand if we needed any help, subway was located down the road only three stops to downtown Manhattan. Supermarket was only a few blocks away and offered free delivery which was very handy.Mervin and Dahlia were always available if we had and questions, and we had the pleasure of meeting Mervin who is a most wonderful and friendly man. If we are ever back in New York it would be a pleasure to stay again.
Owner response:Dahlia and I will do EVERYTHING for our GUESTS. Nothing more and nothing less! Thank you for this warm and most gracious feedback.
