This is Island life in the Carolinas at its best--a spacious ground-level home nestled under beautiful moss draped oaks within an old southern plantation on the coast outside Beaufort, South Carolina. A comfortable non-smoking home with an open plan suitable for a couple or family. NO STEPS inside or out! Hunting Island State Park and beach, just 5 minutes away, is a renowned tropical island, with lighthouse, great fishing pier, bathhouses, museum, and nature center.
Recent renovation includes new wood flooring, appliances, and new furniture throughout (new mattresses!). Decor is "beachy" and suitable for children. Large, fully equipped kitchen with a Five Star gas stove. After a morning walk through the sand roads of the plantation, serve up a big breakfast, swim at the beach, boat, fish, sitesee, and complete the day with a seafood feast--often from your own catch!
Located in a corner of the plantation on a dead end street with plenty of privacy and space for children to play. The surrounding century old oaks really give you a sense of the timelessness of this island.
Enjoy tranquil, panoramic waterfront views of the marsh and creek, including beautiful sunsets and a million stars. You can fish, crab, shrimp, or just hang out in the hammock on the dock. For more excitement, bring a boat or rent our small boat to explore the creek and see more of the area and the wildlife. Frequently, dolphins, osprey, pelicans, deer, otter, and the occasional sea turtle are seen from the dock or from your own boat. A short ride down the creek leads you to St. Helena Sound, the Intercoastal Waterway, or the ACE Basin marine reserve.
Enjoy this restful retreat offering the art, cuisine, and shopping of historical Beaufort, South Carolina, in the setting where the movie "Forrest Gump" was filmed. Savannah, Hilton Head, Edisto, and Charleston are easy day trips from here. Go all you want, then return to this haven within the plantation. |
