My husband and I chose the third floor tree top suite for a one week stay for our anniversary! Easy process including the utmost prifessionalism by Tyler the property manager. He was there for each question we had prior to, during and after our stay. Well cared for property with a fantastic location close to everything. Quiet for a city location with the occasional horse and carriage passing by, and great neighborhood atmosphere. We would recommend this apartment to anyone traveling to the city... Sure beats a hotel! I am in the travel industry so felt this was great value for the dollar!

We really enjoyed our stay in the top floor appt. It was very well equipped and nicely decorated, although a little dark, but that may be a good thing in mid summer. In that vein the air con didn't really get cold enough so may need some attention to cope with summer highs but overall the apartment was really lovely. There was also a good choice of free films on TV which was nice when we wanted to spend the evening relaxing after a long day walking around the city. The location is just superb, in a delightful tree lined avenue, with restaurants and the main shopping area closeby, as is the beach - couldn't have been better. I would definitely recommend it when visiting the lovely city of Chicago. Way way better than the hotel option we had considered..

This condo was perfect! I was in town for the radiology convention and could not find a hotel room. I decided to try VRBO and found this condo on the website. Honestly, I would love to stay here every year when I attend the conference. The location was very convenient to Miracle Mile and many great restaurants. The condo was really well designed, very spacious and clean, with top of the line appliances and amenities. This is preferable to hotels when traveling on business with family members. I would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I always wanted to stay in a brownstone and this one was quite a treat! It's located on a very nice street with lots of restaurants within walking distance. It was our first time booking on vrbo and I was nervous about paying such a large amount of money in advanced but everything went fine. The condo is exactly like you view in the photos and video. My only complaint is lack of storage in the bathroom. I think it might be a tight stay with four people since it is a 1bedroom 1 bath but if you don't pack as much as I do you may be fine. I would recommend staying here if you want to feel like a local and get to feel the history of Chicago!

We spent a wonderful week in this condo. The location is perfect for sightseeing, shopping and dining. It is in a very nice and quiet street and you are away from the city noise. Lots of places are in walking distance, for all the other places we took the bus (cta 7day pass $ 23). The condo is exactly as shown on the photos and very well-maintained. We had e-mail contact to the owners and got lots of helpful informations. We were in Chicago for the first time and found this part of the city ideal for our needs. We would definitely stay there again.

This place was in the best part of town, very quiet and clean. We could walk to Rush Street or to Lake Michigan, we were only a couple of blocks away from Clark/Division which is where we could catch the red line to all of our destinations. I stronly sugguest taking the Orange line from Midway to Roosevelt, then switching to the Red Line heading north and save your money from having to take a taxi. We took the subway from Midway and saved about $60 in which we bought (2) 7 day CTA passes and that got us everywhere we wanted to go. The owners of the property were great and it's everything we expected!

We recently stayed here during our annual Christmas shopping spree. What a great find, I almost want to keep it a secret! In years past, we always stayed on Michigan ave. and had to deal with the rat race of all the shoppers whenever we walked out the front door. The best part about the brownstone was the location. Only one block from Michigan ave, you could still get to all the shops, but were able to decompress before the mad-shopping begins. We woke at a leisurely hour, made coffee and started our day. Even though there are plenty of bakerys and restaurants that are just a few steps away, the idea of a relaxing morning and plotting out the day was great. The brownstone was exactly as we thought it would be, no surprises...how refreshing. We couldn't find the sheets for the sofa sleeper, and when I called to find out where they were the owner came by with a brand new set! Talk about service....(they ended up being in the inflatable bed). I have only one little thing that was bothersome, and that was the heater had a hissing sound that would come on sometimes and if you are a real light sleeper it may annoy you but it didn't bother me and it sure beats loud guests next door to you in a hotel room. Another big plus is the price...I got to buy extra Christmas presents. So happy shopping girls, any time of the year.

This gorgeous Brownstone was exactly what my wife and I were looking for in Chicago. As advertised, it’s on a quiet street that’s literally one block from Lake Shore Drive and one block from Rush Street. Perfect access to everything without being overwhelmed by noise, traffic or crowds when we were in for the night. The furnishings were elegant, but the apartment had a very casual and inviting feel. Although we didn’t use the kitchen, it was fully functional so we could have made meals if that was our intention. The bathroom could have been larger (I’m spoiled) but it was OK. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else when I visit Chicago again.

My husband and I stayed at the brownstone for a week. What a great location - restaurants to the left and the lake to the right. Very close to all public transportation, and easy walking distance to markets (we cooked dinner most nights). Smartly laid out kitchen, very comfy and cosy living room. And the bedroom had the most comfortable bed - just like being at home. It was our first trip to Chicago - what a beautiful and vibrant city! And what a great apartment to come back to after a long day of sightseeing.

Our stay at Chicago was vey nice. This city is so interesting, beautiful. We had a great and lovely time. We really liked Chicago and certainly, we come back very soon to enjoy it again. Chicago is not far from Montreal, so it's easy to come. The apartment was perfect, comfortable, clean, cozy, with very nice decoration, such as described on your website and on photos. The neighborhood was very nice and safe, near of all public transportation, and we appreciated your good suggestions of restaurants (Carmine, Corner Bakery, Big Bowl ). Also, it was so pleasant to be so near of Oak Beach. It's wonderfull! In fact, a great location for this apartment. We are happy to have chosen First Class Chicago for our accommodation in Chicago. All the steps for the reservation took place well. You offer an impeccable and professional service. We feel in confidence with you. We will recommend you with pleasure. Thanks for all!

If you want to feel like you are living in the best part of Chicago, you must stay here. The unit was wonderful, clean, well appointed, very large, and perfectly located. The owners were quickly responsive to all of our questions. An easy walk to the Magnificent Mile and Oak Street for shopping, and outstanding restaurants a block away with great patio dining. Gino's for brunch was our favorite. Two tours that were very entertaining and informative were the architectural tour from the river level, and the "Untouchable Tour" about Chicago's gangsters. Be sure to explore the area on foot since there is something new on every block.

The condo was fabulous. Great location and close to everything. Just a short walk over on Lakeshoe Dr. to Water Tower Place for some summer clothes shopping and an afternoon cocktail at the Drake Hotel. The close L-Station was great for getting downtown and everything we wanted to see. Fine restaurants within close walking distance on Rush St. Gibsons was our 'hang out' (fabulous food and a and a lively bar area). We will definitely be coming back to enjoy a GREAT condo in Chicago.

Our experience with this property and the staff of First Class Chicago was truely great. This property is very secure, clean, safe, and everything we expected and more. The location cannot be beat. This Gold Coast location was a spring break destination for our family. My wife and I wanted to show our two boys around one of the greatest cities in the world and we were not disappointed. Being so close to Rush Street with off street parking a half a block away and Oak Street beach one block away, was absolutely wonderful. We didn't want to leave! The staff know how to communicate and were very professional and accomidating the whole way. Do yourself a favor and stop looking, this is a great property!

My family and I stayed at this brownstone apartment in the Gold Coast region in March 2011 (one separate bedroom + pull out couch). The apartment was attractive, comfortable, conveniently located, and has all the amenities needed. The brownstone is a beautiful well kept historical building giving you the sense of stepping back in time but with all of the modern conveniences. Excellent restaurants were available just around the corner, shopping available within a few blocks walk, it was easy to catch a taxi when needed to get to other attractions. Wifi was available to keep on top of work. In addition, we found the owners to be very accommodating with the dates we requested.

My wife and I rented the third floor unit for three nights. We only lasted one. When we got up the first morning we discovered the shower did not work--at all. The toilet backed up and we only had a flimsy plunger to work with. It did not solve the problem. The owners called a plumber to fix the toilet, claiming that it had been fixed previously, which made me wonder. The fix resulted in the bathroom smelling like a sewer, so they offered to move us to the second floor, but the room was not clean. We waited for the cleaning service to come and then moved all of our stuff downstairs for night number two. We then discovered there was no hot water and no heat (hot water heaters). We called and they said the boiler must have gone out and they would fix it while we were out to dinner. I received a message while we were eating that all was well. When we returned--still no heat or hot water. We called and they again offered to send their man over, but it was now 9:00 and we gave up and went to a hotel. On the positive side, they did not argue with us about refunding all of our money. Maybe this was a weird one-time mishap, but it was a bad one. I would stay away from the third floor unit since it did not sound like this was the first time they have had problems with this unit.

Owner response: Consider the other guest comments in this section of our website before taking the one review as a representation of the apartment. This was an unfortunate series of events caused by issues that have been resolved. As they mentioned, we had not issue refunding their money as these guests in particular did not receive the product we take pride in delivering. *The plumbing issue has been fixed. Yes, we had a plumber there 2 or 3 times prior who attempted fixes of what they thought the problem was and we were told that it was fixed each time they came. Each time it was a different story. It finally took a camera snaked down the vent riser to discover a broken vent pipe caused by insufficient piping support when installed. The wall was opened and issue repaired. *The boiler for the second floor radiant heat had a valve that needed replacing. This had not yet been discovered due to turn of season and no demand for heat as of yet. It has been replaced and has worked fine throughout this brutal winter (it is now Feb 2011). *The comment is incorrect as to hot water for sinks, bath, shower etc. as the boiler has no effect on the hot water heater which was functioning fine. *We responded quickly and our caretaker was there on site to personally address issues. We offered an alternative by moving the guest to the second floor (which most vacation rentals wouldn't even have the luxury of offering). It had not been cleaned because no one was scheduled to be in that unit, but we got our housekeeper over there on a moments notice to help accommodate. Heating issue was previously detailed above and despite the valve issue, our caretaker thought the temperature in the apartment was fine. Bottom line-- any issues have been addressed and the experience noted above will not be your experience. The third floor unit is one of our favorites when we stay there personally.

The Brownstone really caught my eye when I was checking out rentals in Chicago and this unit did not disappoint! It was so cool staying in a brownstone apartment. The location was so perfect too. Everything we needed was within walking distance, and we did a lot of walking! Chicago is definitely a walkable city, if that's what you want. Public transportation is also great so if walking isn't your thing, there's always the bus, the metra, or the El. There is a bus stop right on LakeShore just a minute or so from the apartment. There's also an El stop about two blocks away, although we never used that. We just used the El to and from the airport, which was great. It took about an hour but only cost about $5! So, back to the apartment. It's a third floor walk up so if you don't like stairs, take that into consideration. We loved it! It was like having your own place in Chicago. Most definitely better than a hotel and in such a great neighborhood. The bed is super comfortable and the living area is just right. I loved being able to walk to the grocery store, CVS, deli (Ashkenaz), Starbucks, etc. Our favorite grocery store was Treasure Island on Elm Street. We ate at LuxBar one night, which is owned by the Gibson Steak people. You can order a Gibson steak there if you want and my husband did just that. I have to say it was the best steak I ever had. I had sliders and they were great too. The atomsphere there was just great. We watched the Green Bay/Vikings game while there (even though we aren't crazy about football) and it was so much fun. It was just a really nice, relaxed place. Also ate at Frontera Grill which was really, really good. Don't worry about not having reservations. Just show up and hang at the bar for a while. Ate at Quartino on Saturday night. It was good and I definitely recommend the italian sausage but it is way loud on weekends. Try a weekday night instead. Lastly, we had tapas at Ba-ba-reeba in the Lincoln Park neighborhood and everything was really great. The sangria is great too! It was so easy to walk from the brownstone over to the lake and then up to Lincoln Park and the zoo. Do not miss the Conservatory if you like plants!! We also walked downtown and took the Architectural Society boat tour. It's a definite do not miss also! And Millenieum Park is the best, especially the Cloud Gate. Hyde Park rocks too, esp. Robie House, Rockefeller Cathedral and U of Chicago. We loved Chicago!

If you like to walk when you are in Chicago, this is the perfect neighborhood. I would actually rate it 4.5 stars. We walked to North Michigan shopping, to Lincoln Park bars and Rush Street restaurants. If you bring a car, be aware you will need to use a parking lot or garage, but we expected that. Besides the perfect location, it is a nicely maintained, comfortable residence with everything we needed for the weekend visit. We had the third floor apartment and there are some steps, but the stairway is wide and well-lighted. We used the kitchen to reheat pizza and serve wine, but could easily have made a whole meal. The bed was comfortable with nice linens. Everything is just as pictured on their website. The owners were easy to deal with, and even left a cell phone number for any questions or concerns. We are planning to stay again in August!

What a GREAT place to stay in Chicago. I am hesitant to even write in the guest book, as I want to keep this place my own little Chicago secret so we can always stay here when we visit the city. Everything about this rental is perfect. You could not ask for a better location as there is tons of shopping, wonderful restaurants and the wonderful Oak Street beach just steps away. To top off the location the accomodations are second to none. The rental is decorated so very nice, and has all the comforts of home. I would highly recommend staying here for a great home away from home in Chicago.

We Stayed in this beautiful home in Late August. It was our first visit to Chicago and we selected this property partly because of its central location between downtown and Wrigley Field. We could not have known how perfect it really is. The street is quiet and the house is impeccable and tastefully decorated. Felt as comfortable as home! We were 1/2 a block from the beach, running and biking along Lake Michigan. Walking distance to downtown, Navy Pier, Millenium Park, John Hancock Bldg, and much more. We didn't need to rent a car for our 5 day stay. The Gold Coast is a beautifully maintained neighborhood with wonderful restaurants, coffee shops and a delightful grocery store all within a few blocks. The house was all the owners promised and then some. Thanks Mark & Ashley for sharing your home. We'll be back!

We stayed in this apartment for one week, there were 4 adults in our group and we had sufficient room. I would recommend this place for location, cleanliness and general hospitality. The linen isn’t ironed but its clean which is the priority. Also, the owner happened to be in the building during our stay which was great as we had a few questions for her. Getting the number of a cab guy was great as it meant we didn’t have to worry about transport to the airport. Would stay here again.

Location, Location, Location only begins to describe this Gold Coast Brownstone. I've stayed in many vrbo/homeaway homes/condos over the years and was extremely pleased to stumble across this unit. Upon entering the building, you realize that much care has been taken to renovate the structure/unit. Granite countertops in the kitchen along with SubZero applicances, comfortable bed/bedding, to scale furniture that adds to the character of the unit and doesn't distract from it. Any visit I make to Chicago at this point will also include an email to FirstClassChicago to see if I can be accomodated in one of their units, specifically this one. The name says it all!

Location, location, location! I really enjoyed my stay, it was truly like having my own apartment in the best part of the city. Furnished and decorated very nicely, with high-end modern appliances, flat screen TV, and high speed internet - I was able to work from the apartment. The location is fantastic - near restaurants, Rush Street and the miracle mile. I especially liked the proximity to lakeshore drive - I was able to enjoy running along the lake every day.

My wife and i both enjoyed our stay. The king size bed was very comfortable and the entire unit was squeaky clean upon our arrival. The next time we visit chicago we will stay there if it is available.

This Gold Coast Brownstone is conveniently located to many of the key Chicago sites. Our first morning there, we walked out the door onto a tree-lined street of classic brownstones and greystones, safely crossed Lake Shore Drive and minutes later were on a beautiful beach just north of the Drake Hotel. The available pedestrian, jogging, roller blading and biking lanes will take one north as well as south beyond the Navy Pier, Art Institute, Millenium Park, etc. The apartment was very spacious (absolutely Huge by Japanese standards)with a newly-renovated well-stocked kitchen, good daylight, and new bathroom with excellent water pressure and hot water. The pull out couch truly makes it more of a two bedroom than one bedroom apartment. The street is quiet and several nice breakfast places/restaurants are within a two block radius. For those who do not need concierge or room services, I cannot imagine paying more to stay at any of the Chicago hotels. For reference, a taxi from the airport is roughly $40 USD and a taxi to the Metra train station is roughly $6 USD. The Magnificent Mile is roughly a 5-10 minute walk and the art institute is approximately a nice 30 minute walk. The famous pizza joints are less than a 15 minute walk. (avoid the new Gino's East...no longer the same.)
