Why the Owner Chose Grand Timber Lodge

I decided to buy at Grand Timber Lodge so that I could spend quality time with my daughter in the pools because she loves to swim and to also use it for family who comes out to visit. It has not only been great for those reasons; it has also been nice being able to share such a great place with many other families all over the world.

The Unique Benefits at this Condo

It is true ski in and ski out. It has the most and best amenities of all the resorts in Breckenridge; pools, hot tubs, work out rooms, spa, salon, restaurant, bar, underground heated parking, game room, pool table, business center, complimentary shuttle, 24 hour front desk. It is in a great location; just a 10 minute walk to town and also near great hikes in the summer. The ski in and ski out access in the winter is very easy and convenient as well.

Owner's Map of Grand Timber Lodge

I have lived in Breckenridge for 13 years and truly love it. I have done lodging/ property management related work since 1998 and I also run a spa and do massage therapy. I really enjoy snowboarding in the winter, skiing with my daughter, and biking in the summers. I have traveled around the world quite a bit and always love coming back to Breckenridge; I think it is one of the nicest places we could possibly live and think it is a fantastic place to come on vacation to.

a nice experience for skiing

We rented the 1 bedroom/1bath unit (pictured directly above the photograph titled "Living Area") for a week. All in all, the unit was well maintained and stocked and very clean. The complex has a couple nice pool/hot tub areas in the next building over. It's about a 15 second walk outside to get there--tolerable even in a wet swimsuit. There is complimentary ski/pole storage in the next building at Christy's Sports (tips encouraged) and from that location, you can ski-in from Lower Sawmill trail and almost but not quite ski-out to the Beaver Run lift. Or you can carry your stuff the other direction a little way and ski to Snowflake lift. Wi-Fi in the building is free from the lobby but costs $5/day or $20/wk for very slow service from the unit. The unit is equipped with TV/DVD/cable, humidifiers, crock pot, blender, iron. Unlike the 1 bedroom time-share my friend stayed in, it lacked a washer/dryer (though there is one downstairs, 4 quarters per wash or dry load) and balcony, and the floor plan is a little odd with a smaller living area. The eating area in particular was smaller with a table for 4 and kitchen counter seating for 2. The living room window was small and high--too bad because the view and light would have been nice. The bathroom was big. The unit ran a little hot the first couple days even with the heat turned very low--I think this is from heat rising to the third floor from other weekend guests below, though I am not sure. Towels were changed once on Monday. The bedding was comfortable. The sofa bed was very generously wide and queen sized. The ottoman opened into a cot but my kids didn't like it. Therefore the unit can sleep 5. There are occasional activities such as family movie night or smores night. At 10am sharp on check out day, housekeeping knocked on the door. We thought she was bringing the dishwasher powder we asked for much earlier, but she just wanted us out so she could clean. A bit odd that she camped out at the door until we left at 10:15, but then again check out was fairly posted at 10am. The complex has a shuttle into town, but it can be a bit roundabout depending on the time. The traffic in the center of town is really bad, so the shuttle or walking may be the way to go to some locations. City Market is close and has good parking. Overall, a nice stay & a fair price. We have a cabin that we rent out, so we appreciate the work that goes into maintaining the unit to look new and clean. Thanks! 4.5 stars.

My wife and I love Breckenridge and we visit twice a year. Once in the summer and once in the winter. We have stayed at numerous places but have now found a home at Grand Timber Lodge. The owner was super connected in the town and gave us lots of recommendations that were excellent. We can't wait to go back in the summer

Our first BAD experience with booking through VRBO

Date of Stay: 01/14/11 Review Submitted: 01/18/11

First, our condo unit at Grand Timber was not at all as described. Every master suite unit at Grand Timber has a sliding door/deck and fireplace (the listing said it had a deck and grill). This had neither and was partially underground. It had very small windows and it felt like you were in a basement. There was no dining room table, which all the other units have. The couch was ripped and stained. The shower curtain dirty. The unit was advertised with a queen sleeper sofa - but it was a double. The listing said "sleeps 6 comfortably", but it barely sleeps 4. The heater broke every day that we were there. Maintenance was very nice, but had to come between 9-10 pm two of our nights, when we needed our boys to be sleeping. Then, the heat stayed on and would not turn off and our last day there it was 85 degrees. We came home a night early b/c we could not sleep in that heat. Also, the door stuck and sometime was almost impossible to open. I tried to work with the woman we booked through who took our credit card, but she said she was helping a friend out with renting the condo and could not help us. She forwarded the information on to the owner who never got in touch with us to help us out or refund us even partially for the last night when we could not stay there. The biggest issue is that this condo was not listed accurately at all - very deceiving - do not rent the one bedroom master suite that is actually "owned" - Grand Timber would not help us either because it was an "owner" unit and not one of their time share units. We still had a good time skiing, but the accommodations and experiences was way below anything we have experienced at Grand Timber before. I do not recommend booking from these listings at all. Very poor lodging experience.

Owner response:I have been an owner at the Grand Timber Lodge since 2007 and have been renting my condos in the resort on a year round basis from that time to the present and have had nothing but positive feedback from our renters. We offer a great value and excellent service to everyone that makes reservations with us. We offer great pricing on the lodging, on lift tickets, and rental equipment and are always available for our renters if they need anything throughout their stay. The staff at Grand Timber Lodge is always readily available and very helpful if there are ever any problems as well. Since the last renter, I have replaced the door handle that apparently had been sticking and have also put a brand new couch with a queen size sofa sleeper and new chair in the unit. I feel that the Grand Timber Lodge is one of the nicest, well kept properties in Breckenridge and we honestly don't ever have complaints so this is definitely a surprise. The way that we handle a situation in which a renter does not like the condo they chose is we offer to move them into another one, until their needs, and expectations are met. This renter unfortunatley did not contact me, the owner, during the stay, but instead after staying wanted a refund for a portion of the stay. I am a very fair person and customer service oriented so just wish the renter would have given me an opportunity to resolve any issues that she had, but unfortunately I was never informed of them. Thank you for your time.
