  We had a wonderful stay at the Cobalt Door for our first visit to Marfa. We were in town Sunday through Wednesday for a romantic getaway and to attend a concert. We loved our location in town and right across the street from The Get Go market. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed to cook a few meals at home when some of the restaurants in town were closed. It was nice to have a private outdoor patio, even though it was too hot during the day to stay out too long! The renting process was a breeze and emailed us receipts, directions and information on the town...highly recommend Stay Marfa!

  I loved my stay at Stay Marfa. The apartment- The Cobalt Room- was clean, comfortable, had everything my family needed to enjoy or stay in Marfa. We were here for over a week and loved the location, the ability to make meals, and play in the backyard. I highly recommend the Cobalt room as it has a nice kitchen, backyard area, living room, great sized bathroom, and nice bedroom. The addition of 2 air conditioners was great in this hot Texas heat. The people I talked with to book the room and to have questions answered were wonderful and very helpful.

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with young children.

  I had a wonderful stay at the cobalt door. I loved being able to walk to the Get-Go across the street for groceries or just a couple of blocks to downtown Marfa. It was snowy and cold while I was in town and the cobalt was a cozy, warm place to relax. Everything was clean and I loved the modern furniture touches and art books. I also liked the use of green products (like organic soaps and environmentally friendly paper towels). Thanks for a great stay!

  We were in Marfa Texas for a wedding and stayed at the Cobalt Door. The apartment was centrally located, within easy walking distance to great spots (Git Go Market, Pizza Foundation, shopping, Squeeze Marfa, and the central portion of town). The apartment was well stocked with all the essentials and even more - plenty of fresh towels that were fluffy and clean! The bed was very comfortable for me. The unit had ceiling fans for the cool evening temperatures and wall window AC units for the warm days. We had family staying in most of the units in Stay Marfa for the entire weekend and it was great for us to be so close together, but each still have our own space for the quiet times. I would recommend the unit to anyone traveling to west Texas!

  In their rental company info they do stress that this place is not a prime rental property and for good reason. Animal hair on the sofa and in the bedroom. You would think they could at least sweep the floors. But no! Kitchen floor in particular appeared to need sweeping for a long time and there were food crumbs all over the table. Dirty glassware in the cabinet. The outdoor area in back was covered by large spiders and webs. A pretty dreary place all in all. So grungy we did want to touch anything. We are not super fussy lodgers, but we cannot recommend this place. One other thing, the freight trains pass one block away at all hours of the night. We did not have a good nights sleep.

  Owner response: Naturally we are distressed that the guest had a poor experience! If he had notified us at arrival with concerns, we would have immediately addressed the cleaning issues and made other arrangements as well for his benefit (as in, whatever it took to make him happy!). Without that, of course, we were unable to address it immediately during the actual stay. :-( We assign our cleaning staff for specific guest arrivals and if that doesn't happen we very much want to know ASAP--and this guest's experience suggests strongly that there was an error here, for which we apologize. VRBO guests will note that in our six units, this is the first negative review in our four years of operation. We would prefer none. If the guest would contact us, we would like the opportunity to make it right. Thanks!
