Your first view of the house is of the spacious furnished porch with great northern exposures. The cozy yet open living area is equipped with TV connected to DVD/VHS player (no local or satellite service to the house) The main floor guest room, decorated with antique furnishings is just off the living room.

The Kitchen is equipped with modern appliances and a gas stove/oven set within local Amish crafted beautiful cabinetry. Original wood flooring in the the kitchen and dining room. LG Washer and dryer are just off the kitchen.

The steep original stairway leads upstairs to the three bedrooms and an over sized bathroom with a walk in closet. The bathroom is furnished with a cast iron stand alone tub and vintage pedestal sink. Soak in the tub while gazing out the window upon birds and farmland.

The entire house has been renovated with new electrical, plumbing, heating and septic systems while maintaining the original wavy glass windows to the main frame. Ceiling fans have been added in the living room, master bedroom and porch. The shade provided by the hard maples, oaks and black walnut trees surrounding the house naturally keep the home cool even on the summer’s hottest days.

All bed linens and bath towels are provided to accommodate one queen bed, one full bed, one full size futon, and two twin beds. Hair dryer, iron, ironing board are also provided.

Take a walk down our street past Amish and Mennonite farms. Visit the farmers market in town on Saturday mornings or attend an old fashioned, but authentic, hay and produce auction on Friday mornings. Cook country meals with all local natural ingredients. Play with the goats, watch the Belgian Horses graze in our pasture. Watch our Turkeys forage on bugs and grass. Cook out and enjoy meals on our Amish made picnic table in the back yard. Enjoy the fresh smells of herbs and spices growing in our gardens. Buy a home made pie and fresh sweet corn from a farmer and his wife whose family has been farming their land for generations. Have a glass of Ohio wine and watch the sun set through the trees from our comfortable porch furniture, as hummingbirds feed from Rose of Sharon bushes that line our front lawn along the lane.

Nature never felt so good!

Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2005

Annette and Dan Morgan returned to their native Ohio in a different way. They both grew up in Cleveland's suburbs, lived in New York City for 10 years and were ready to come home to Ohio. They decided to try the country, and bought this lovely 140 year old farm house. Only problem was, it had no English updates, it had been Amish occupied for over 20 years. Well a year and $100,000 later, they decided to move closer to Cleveland, where the work was. Answer, Create this Farm vacation property, or as known in Europe, Farm Stay. We LOVE being able to enjoy the farm house between guests, and still live in the city. Best of both worlds!

Why the Owner Chose Ashland

We became very interested in farms while touring Wales on a vacation in 2004. The government sponsored trails through cow pastures were amazing. We fell in love with the beauty if the animal dotted countryside. We are both concerned about the big factory farms running the small family farm out of business. We felt we could set an example of one clever way to use the farm, and not sell it to developers.

Dear Dan and Annette, Thank you so much for opening your farm to our family. Our friends all thought we were nuts to come all the way from CT to stay on a farm in Ohio for a week. They don't know what they are missing. We were able to enjoy all the wonderful amenities you offered from the cookies and produce basket welcoming us to the well stocked kitchen we were able to cook farm fresh eggs every morning in. We were able to bring cousins together and let them enjoy the simple farm life together. They had a great time riding bikes down the drive-way, flying kites, wagon rides down the hill, feeding the goats leaves, horseshoes, cornhole, camp fires and most of all splashing in the puddles after the rain. What a great place for us to bond as a family and making lasting memories together. Thanks Again! Tom, Carmen, Nathan, Elisabeth, Rebecca, Jack, Sandra, Yvonne, Erynn and Austin

Dan & Annette, Thank You for the opportunity to get away, relax, and enjoy quality family time together. We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, all of the animals, and just sitting an the porch listening to the birds. The visit and drive through Amish Country was a blast! Thanks for your recommendations as well. The pool (in town) was a hit with the kids and the Friday morning action was a lot of fun (We're bringing home plenty of food from the auction and the Amish stores) We also enjoyed a day of hiking around Mohican State Park. Our Mission was accomplished - getting away from our busy lives & enjoying a long, slow-paced week with each other. Thanks, Brandon, Mary, Emily, Matt, and Julia

Thank you again for letting us stay at your beautiful farm. We really enjoyed ourselves. We spent the first night enjoying that awesome meal you had prepared for us with local farm goods and drinking wine together. Our second day we spent at a pumpkin festival down the road. We enjoyed some local fare, bought some apple butter and listened to some Bluegrass. The little one in our group even did the "pumpkin pulverizer" VERY FUNNY! When we got home we cooked out steaks, had a fire, fed the horses, pestered the turkeys and played corn hole. We also had a ride on the tandem bike, that was hilarious! We wrapped up the night with birthday cake for my dad's 60th birthday! Overall, we enjoyed every aspect of this place. We "breathed in" the experience and are all more relaxed because of it. Thank you for opening your house to us! PS The tub is outstanding!

She had a special time trying to learn ow to ride a bicycle. We had a special time cooking in your large kitchen with our daughters. Our sons in laws even helped. We had a truly "family experience"! We hope to return one day and make even more memories "down on the farm"

Dan and Annette, We had a wonderful time at Morgan Farm and we all agree it was a great vacation. The kids had a great time with the cats, bike and the swing. We also did a lot of exploring and shopping in the area. The pool at Brookside Park was a relaxing way to end a day that began with a canoe trip followed by lots of touring around. Your house is beautifull and we thank you for your hospitality.
