Enjoy a unique, private country vacation with your family. With this farm stay you have the experience of farm living without all the hard work! Observe farming and livestock maintenance by Amish neighbors and off site owners while you relax in the main farmhouse......all to yourself.
Approaching the 1866 built farmhouse from the country road, you will pass a windmill powered pump for the Amish family across the way. The drive down the wooded lane to the farmhouse will provide you with a glimpse of our goats awaiting your arrival.
Your first view of the house is of the spacious furnished porch with great northern exposures. The cozy yet open living area is equipped with TV connected to DVD/VHS player (no local or satellite service to the house) The main floor guest room, decorated with antique furnishings is just off the living room.
The Kitchen is equipped with modern appliances and a gas stove/oven set within local Amish crafted beautiful cabinetry. Original wood flooring in the the kitchen and dining room. All cookware, dinnerware, cutlery, and glassware are provided. The downstairs shower room is finished in tiles, converting an old pantry into a full room shower with modern Moen shower fixture. LG Washer and dryer are just off the kitchen.
The steep original stairway leads upstairs to the three bedrooms and an oversized bathroom with a walk in closet. The bathroom is furnished with a cast iron stand alone tub and vintage pedestal sink. Soak in the tub while gazing out the window upon birds and farmland.
The entire house has been renovated with new electrical, plumbing, heating and septic systems while maintaining the original wavy glass windows to the main frame. Ceiling fans have been added in the living room, master bedroom and porch. The shade provided by the hard maples, oaks and black walnut trees surrounding the house naturally keep the home cool even on the summer’s hottest days.
All bed linens and bath towels are provided to accommodate one queen bed, one full bed, one full size futon, and two twin beds. Hair dryer, iron, ironing board are also provided.
Take a walk down our street past Amish and Mennonite farms. Visit the farmers market in town on Saturday mornings or attend an old fashioned, but authentic, hay and produce auction on Friday mornings. Cook country meals with all local natural ingredients. Play with the goats, watch the Belgian Horses graze in our pasture. Watch our Turkeys forage on bugs and grass. Cook out and enjoy meals on our Amish made picnic table in the back yard. Enjoy the fresh smells of herbs and spices growing in our gardens. Buy a home made pie and fresh sweet corn from a farmer and his wife whose family has been farming their land for generations. Have a glass of Ohio wine and watch the sun set through the trees from our comfortable porch furniture, as hummingbirds feed from Rose of Sharon bushes that line our front lawn along the lane.
