We loved the farmhouse! A group of 6 of us stayed while attending a conference in Ashland, and it was the perfect escape after full days. The setting was beautiful, the house charming, comfortable and very well equipped. It was clean, well-maintained, modern amenities with a rustic feel and the animals were really fun to have around. Groceries were a 5-10min drive away so we managed to not eat out the whole time there. The owners were really welcoming, and gave us fresh produce and eggs to enjoy during our stay. I can't say I disliked anything - except having to leave. I would highly recommend this place. Many thanks to the Morgans!Owner response: It is always especially rewarding to get such a nice review from guests who travelled so far to stay at our farm. We were glad to be able to provide a nice ending to your long journey from British Columbia, Canada. I am glad you could enjoy the fireflies at night, some things we take for granted in Ohio. I was surprised to hear that some of your group had never seen them before! Thanks for the nice review!

We enjoyed our stay very much. Plenty of room for 8 people and the remodeled kitchen was a joy. The website's pix and videos represented the house and grounds well, except that the turkeys are no longer there and horses are across the road at another farm. We enjoyed seeing the goats and chickens, though, and the outside cats were friendly, if a bit persistent in wanting to get inside.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks Tom, We are glad you enjoyed a family Holiday vacation at Morgan Farm Stay. Even though it is late in the season, Thanksgiving is one of our most desired dates on our calendar!

Our family rented the Morgan Farmhouse for a birthday/reunion weekend, and it's a time we won't forget. When I drive past nineteenth-century farmhouses that have been kept true to their vintage, I often fantasize what it would be like to live in one. The Morgan Farm answered that fantasy. The interior is a tasteful blend of authentic period and sophisticated contemporary styles. I'm making different pans for my own nineteenth-century home, now. We had a wonderful time, and we'll be back.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Any new homeowner is faced with many decisions, especially when preparing an older home to live in or rent out as a vacation property. Many of the decisions we made were made to maintain the integrity of the original 1866 structure. Thank you John for appreciating the kind of loving care we have taken of our older farm home. We went out of our way to find some "new" "old" touches as well. The upstairs bathroom pedestal sink and cast iron tub are both over 100 years old, and were not in the structure when we purchased it.

Where do I begin! What a wonderful way to reunite friends from different states! We couldn't have asked for a better place to sit, relax, talk and reminisce than sitting on the front porch drinking our morning coffee! We explored the grounds and rode the bikes; we even met Edna our Amish neighbor across the street and helped her dig sweet potatoes. Morgan Farm is the best place to get away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life at home to just relax, and enjoy the easy way of living life in the country. We didn't want to leave but promised that we would be back! I can't wait! Thanks so much Edna for sharing you simple way of life with us and Dan and Annette for sharing your wonderful farm.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Peggy, How pleasantly surprised we were to learn how well you gals hit it off with Edna. She does not warm up to everyone, In fact her and her family usually go about the daily chores at our farm without hardly being noticed. Edna just could not get over your friendly nature and willingness to help her with the digging. (certainly not expected from our guests, as we always say..."the joy of farm living without the hard work")

Morgan Farm was the perfect setting for our annual girls weekend trip! There were so many wonderful things to do on the farm, we ended up spending most of our time there. Everywhere we looked, there was something new and entertaining to explore. We chatted about the artwork on the walls, took pictures with the animals on the farm, explored the barns, pet the cats on the porch and watched the Amish buggies drive down the road. Never once were we seeking something to do. Morgan Farm has it all! The house was stocked with every ammenity you can think of. There were fresh raspberries in the fridge and whole chickens in the freezer when we arrived. Every kitchen appliance you could possibly need. We never ran out of towels, wash cloths, or linens. (Ten girls can go through a lot of towels.) The house was modern and updated, so we never once felt like we were ‘roughing it’. It also had a charm, like no other, that made us feel right at home when we walked through the door. When we did leave the house, there were many attractions close to the area to keep us entertained. We recommend Olivesburg General Store and the Olivesburg Berry Patch. Dan and Annette were very accomodating and a pleasure to meet. We will definitely be returning in the future to share this experience with our families. We recommend this for anyone and everyone wanting a unique getaway. You will not be disappointed. Thank you for all the wonderful memories.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We were pleasantly surprised, and moved by your family when you arrived. So refreshing to see a girls weekend involving several sisters and mom! We have hosted several gals weekends in our 3 seasons, and they have always been pleased. Morgan Farm Stay is the ideal place to spend time with old friends and close family. The bikes, the gravel roads for long walks, the comfortable porch all lend themselves to great quality time together! We are so happy to have hosted you! Thanks for the kind words!

What an awesome experience! The Morgan Farm Stay is such a treasure. And so close! It's the perfect 'staycation' option for Ohio. We felt like we got away for two weeks, not just two days. It was so relaxing. The kids loved the goats, and rolling down the front hill over and over again. The adults loved the kitchen, and the ability to relax, take in the fresh air and all the green hills in every direction. It was also wonderful to allow our kids to just run free, always within sight but with enough freedom that they felt like they were on a solo adventure. Dan and Annette are gracious hosts with exquisite attention to detail. The local care package of Amish goodies were a wonderful welcome, and set the tone for the weekend. We loved the warm and eclectic feel of the house too. Exploring the creative and quirky style of the art through the house was an exciting added bonus. We went into town one day for a farm auction, and although we didn't buy any tractors (!) it was fun for us city folks to see what rural life is like up close and personal. We're already planning and talking about our next visit!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Barb, There is so much around the area to explore but most our guests just love spending quality time together at the house and on the grounds. The kids can be entertained by the bullfrogs in the creek and riding bikes all around the property while the adults cook together or have a relaxing glass of wine on the porch overlooking the countryside. We are happy you enjoyed your weekend!

This Fall, we were working with clients in the Cleveland area and needed a unique space to host a workshop our design firm was organizing for them. The farm gave us unlimited freedom and flexibility to run our activities in all rooms of the house, while also doubling as sleeping accommodations for the majority of attendees. The environment at the farm was extremely relaxing and nurturing. It was a much needed escape from the city that allowed our participants to feel comfortable and be completely immersed in their creative endeavors. Furthermore, Dan was integral in our planning process both prior to our arrival and on site to be sure everything was stocking and catering took place seamlessly within our schedule. Morgan Farm was a breath of fresh air that was ideal for our purposes. We would certainly recommend this location to anyone else in similar circumstances.Recommended for: Sightseeing
Owner response: Thanks Kate, We have been so pleased with the variety of guest uses we have had. Your corporate workshop was so much fun to host, while giving a few neighboring farms the opportunity to prepare some fresh, farm cooked meals to make your stay just that much more comfortable. I am sure Edna, your coffee and fresh baked pastry chef, had some tales to tell her Amish family and friends. New York City to the Heartland of Ohio. We were proud to show off our Midwestern hospitality! We are happy to host this type of unique company retreat any time.

We can't say enough good things about our weekend stay at Morgan Farms. Celebrating our 15th year of going on an annual weekend together, this was the perfect place to do it. Very relaxing, cozy and comfortable. We found plenty to do in the area with the brochures provided, but our favorite moments were just relaxing on the porch, watching the leaves fall and listening to the still country side. Thank you for a wonderful experience that was much enjoyed by all!Owner response: The ladies seem to LOVE getting their friends together for a farm getaway at Morgan Farm Stay.

We had a lovely weekend at Dan & Annette's perfect farmhouse. They met us there and gave us a tour of the barns, the house, the grounds. Everything was lovely, spotless, and obviously lovingly cared for. Our small kids ran and ran all over the place, in and out of the barn, up and down stairs, until they finally collapsed in comfortable, quilt-covered beds. Mommy & Daddy watched from the giant, old, shady front porch, our noses in books. The goats and the neighbors cows occasionally reminded us they were around. We ate like kings thanks to the local produce the owners left. It was a joy to cook in a well-equipped, bright, roomy kitchen then eat al fresco, kitties rubbing our ankles. We hardly wanted to leave the grounds, except to walk up the driveway to the street to watch buggies go by, but Dan and Annette left so many ideas for activities that we couldn't help ourselves. But just for a little while. Highly, highly recommend this place!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Kids love our farm. They seem to find joy in every little detail, from playing with the cats and goats, to splashing in the puddles after a nice hard rain. We do feel obliged to supply a well equipped kitchen as well as area attraction maps and guides. We are very happy share the house with vacationers, partly because the feeling we get when we get terrific reviews like yours Vickie, Thank You!

We stayed at Morgan Farm in mid August. The weather was perfect. We met another family there and our children had a ball running around exploring the surroundings. The house fit our families perfectly. We were only there two nights so we weren't able to experience everything we wanted to, so next time we'll have to stay longer! The only thing we tried and were unsuccessful at was trying to purchase local produce and meats from area farmers. Maybe because it was a Saturday? We definitely would stay here again for a longer period of time!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks jdelpa1 It was intriguing that the other couple you met was from east of the farm, in PA. Glad you chose the Heartland of Ohio as a meeting spot in-between. The Amish families you visited may have been in the fields, or maybe you did not knock hard enough on the door, they often nap mid day, especially the long harvesting days, and of course no doorbells! (electricity) Sunday is the day to avoid the Amish, no business transactions. We look forward to your return!

Dear Dan and Annette, Thank you so much for opening your farm to our family. Our friends all thought we were nuts to come all the way from CT to stay on a farm in Ohio for a week. They don't know what they are missing. We were able to enjoy all the wonderful amenities you offered from the cookies and produce basket welcoming us to the well stocked kitchen we were able to cook farm fresh eggs every morning in. We were able to bring cousins together and let them enjoy the simple farm life together. They had a great time riding bikes down the drive-way, flying kites, wagon rides down the hill, feeding the goats leaves, horseshoes, cornhole, camp fires and most of all splashing in the puddles after the rain. What a great place for us to bond as a family and making lasting memories together. Thanks Again! Dan & Annette, Thank You for the opportunity to get away, relax, and enjoy quality family time together. We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, all of the animals, and just sitting an the porch listening to the birds. The visit and drive through Amish Country was a blast! Thanks for your recommendations as well. The pool (in town) was a hit with the kids and the Friday morning action was a lot of fun (We're bringing home plenty of food from the auction and the Amish stores) We also enjoyed a day of hiking around Mohican State Park. Thank you again for letting us stay at your beautiful farm. We really enjoyed ourselves. We spent the first night enjoying that awesome meal you had prepared for us with local farm goods and drinking wine together. Our second day we spent at a pumpkin festival down the road. We enjoyed some local fare, bought some apple butter and listened to some Bluegrass. The little one in our group even did the "pumpkin pulverizer" VERY FUNNY! When we got home we cooked out steaks, had a fire, fed the horses, pestered the turkeys and played corn hole. We also had a ride on the tandem bike, that was hilarious! We wrapped up the night with birthday cake for my dad's 60th birthday! Overall, we enjoyed every aspect of this place. We "breathed in" the experience and are all more relaxed because of it. Thank you for opening your house to us! PS The tub is outstanding!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

A few weeks ago my friend and I decided to take a few days off from our hectic work schedules, so we booked Morgan Farm Stay for some serious R&R. As soon as we walked into the kitchen, we felt at home--but relaxed. Those heritage turkeys ran to greet us at the fence and gobbled every time we came and went from the house. We found plenty to do--horseback riding, shopping, a mansion and arboretum in Mansfield, and some local restaurants with terrific food. Both nights we fell asleep to the sounds of the Belgian horses nickering in the pasture. We're looking forward to our next visit!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks Mary Kay in Walton Hills, OH and Kathy in Indiana, You and your friend probably had some real quality time together. We have been happy to host several guests who are getting together with old high school or college friends. A lot of Ohio folks have friends or family out of state, and what better way to welcome home out of state people, than to enjoy a whole house and grounds, conveniently located in the heart of Ohio's agriculture, a true getaway for all, so close to home.

My family really enjoyed our stay at the farm. We had three families staying for the weekend. My daughters and their husbands and kids enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. The horses, turkeys, and goats were a joy to watch. My granddaughter enjoyed exploring the barn, playing in the yard, and riding a bicyle. We had lazy, relaxing days with wonderful meals prepared by all. The local restaurants and country stores were interesting and had delicious food. We hope to revisit soon. Thanks for a wonderful weekend getaway.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks Mary, For 2009, we are adding some more animals with even better access for petting and playing with. Families enjoy healthy locally grown food, cooking together, and sharing meals inside or outside. This is one of the best aspects of this Farm Stay. People connecting their food with where it comes from! Ohio has a great agricultural history, and our farm has Amish, Mennonite and English farming surrounding the grounds. The gravel road the farm sits on makes for ideal hiking and biking (we also provide the bikes) We hope to see you again! Dan and Annette

My husband and I spent a blissfully relaxing weekend at Morgan Farm in Ashland. Our 1 1/2 year old daughter and my parents were with us as well. The property was fun to explore and the natural beauty of the surroundings put us all at ease. We spent our days hanging out with the horses, turkeys and goats and cooked meals in the kitchen at night. We love to cook and the kitchen was very well appointed. We really didn't need to bring anything. We went to a local farm market on Saturday and there were many fresh goods to be had. The decor and design of the house was fun, eclectic and comfortable. We would stay at the farm again and again! One warning for fellow city slickers...Amish "stores" are inside peoples houses! We didn't know this and it kind of took us by surprise. I guess we were expecting a country store out of Little House on the Prairie...That's city slickers for you. Jessica from ClevelandRecommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Jessica from Cleveland. Kids of all ages enjoy the farmhouse and the grounds. One of the most interesting aspects of staying at our farm house is observing the mix of Amish, Mennonite and modern farmers in the immediate area. We are preparing a more detailed guide for our visitors about what to expect and how to interact with this friendly mix. The prices at the Amish stores certainly are a pleasant surprise!

We enjoyed this vacation very much. We gave our kids the choice of a stay at Morgan Farm or a few days at an amusement park. They chose the farm and they both say they would like to go back. The property was as advertised, the home was quite clean, and the area was interesting. The helpful owners met us at the farm and gave us a tour and also provided maps to local attractions. My children were 9 and 12 and they liked watching the animals, most especially the farm cats. We went to Amish farms and purchased local produce, and to some local shops. We found an auction of farm equipement that was fun to see. My kids also enjoyed the city pool which was a nice way to relax after driving here and there during the day.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks Emfwestlake, Glad you got around to explore Ashland County. The pool at the city park has one of the only high diving boards around, that I know of. The weekly hay and produce auction, on Fridays, is a great way to mingle with local Amish, Mennonite and English farmers. Dan and Annette

I could not have found a more perfect place to escape the noise and stress of the city. I traded traffic, cement, bus fumes and raised voices for a beautiful country road occupied by the occasional tractor or Amish buggy, fresh country air, and solitude. I rested, ate healthy food, read, relaxed and made some journal entries reminding me that there are far more important things in life than racing from one place to another and constantly trying to meet the often unrealistic expectations of others.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Carlos, We are happy that we could help you find a place to "get away from it all" The clippity clop of those buggies and the chirping of the morning birds are cherished sounds on the farm! Another nice sound is the crackling of a fire in our fire pit late at night, under the starry sky. Morgan Farm, with so many places to explore right on the grounds, is the perfect, economical getaway, for solitude or family fun, or both! Dan and Annette

We (four adults and four children) stayed at the Morgan farm last summer. Our host was there when we arrived and she was extremely knowledgeable about the area and a delight to talk to. The house is tucked away off of a quiet country road surrounded by Amish homes. It is a beautiful old house that has been lovingly brought to the current century. The kitchen was large and modern while the large side porch was sturdy and beautifully rustic and quaint. Our children enjoyed watching the fire flies from the porch at night and exploring and petting the on-site horses and watching the goats during the day. We all had a great time picking strawberries a few miles up the road. We went in to the tourist areas one day, but preferred the peaceful serenity of the house and driving or bike riding around the surrounding area. We cooked out each night and enjoyed a large bonfire the one night. It was a wonderful and relaxing stay. Highly recommend.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hi Barb, We loved having you! Our porch is one of our favorite places to relax and watch the sun set. The fire flies are a real treat in June and July. There will be more animals to pet in the 2009 season! Best to you, Dan and Annette
