"Balmont" is located on the top of a hill in les Monts du Lyonnais, a small mountain range southwest of Lyon. A tastefully renovated country farm house that sits above a hamlet of five houses, is completely private, has spectacular views and sunsets, this light-filled property is surrounded by quiet farm paths leading through rolling fields and magical, lush forests. The sky is filled with bright stars at night, unbelieveable!
The nearest village, Larajasse, is about 7km from the house and has a bar, a fresh-food market, one restaurant, one bakery and two chateaux.
"Balmont" is located only 30km from the magnificent Loire River offering swimming, boating, kayaking and picnicking possibilities. It is also 46km from the center of Lyon, France's second largest city, home to a wonderful, weekly antiques market, amazing food possibilities, world class restaurants, Roman ruins and art museums. This is also the city of the convergence of the Rhone River and the Saone River forming the peninsula known as the "Presqu'ile."
Saint-Symphorien-sur-Coise is a lovely town 10 minutes away by car, where you will find supermarkets, shopping and a great open air market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The house is a traditional stone construction, and the interior of the house combines traditional country style with modern amenities. This house has been featured in numerous home decorating magazines. It is beautifully accessorized.
Comfortable central heating units are installed and the water is heated by electricity. Old tile and original wide-board wooden floors and plaster walls give a very authentic feel to the house.
The great room, downstairs, features a traditional open fireplace. It is very large and has one door leading to the kitchen, one door leading to the first floor bedroom, and a third door leading upstairs.
The newly remodeled kitchen includes a modern electric/gas stove with 3 gas burners and one electric burner. The convection oven is electric. The kitchen has a small refrigerator/freezer. We offer all cooking and eating utensils.
The spaciously remodeled bathroom includes a combination bath/shower and a separate connected room containing a toilet and a toiletries cabinet.
The master bedroom has 2 large windows looking out to the back yard and a king-size bed. It also has a spacious sliding-door closet and comfortable arm chair.
The second upstairs bedroom contains two twin beds side by side, a large, hand-carved armoire with hanging space and baskets in the bottom, and a shelving unit.
The downstairs bedroom contains a built-in, wooden armoire with shelves, two beds, foot-to-foot, and a small desk. This is the room where you can get internet access and where one of the two phone docks is located. The house is equipped with Wi-Fi access however.
This property is extremely suitable for a small group of friends or family. It sleeps up to six comfortably (8 possible), on one king-size bed, 4 twin-size beds, and two couches, located in the living room downstairs.
The washing machine is located upstairs in its own room, which also has stairs leading to an unfinished attic. There is no dryer, but there is two long clothes lines easily accessed in the back yard.

- There are more than 2 amazing aquatic centers/lovely public pools, near Larajasse. One is located in Saint Galmier (25 minutes), another in Saint Symphorien sur Coise (15 minutes), and others. We are a quick drive to the Rhone River Valley, for those who are interested in wine and another amazing region of France.

Wonderful farmhouse in idyllic countryside

A truly magical experience. This farmhouse is located in the foothills west of Lyon and is surrounded by working farms, forests and picturesque villages. We are a family of 5 with a dog, and there was plenty of space for us to spread out and roam (or cozy up and read inside). Everything was provided, and the kitchen was well-appointed for cooking French country meals. iPod dock and wifi were huge pluses, and the owner left great information about surrounding sights, villages, markets and restaurants. One excellent tip -- the Badoit source is about 30 mins by car with a public well for all your mineral water needs!!
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with teenagers.

We stayed at this property in June 2010 when the weather was fair. The home is very comfortable and warm. Due to the coolness of the weather we were able to light the fire which warmed the living area. The house is well appointed and the setting is fantastic. From the lounge area you have beautiful views of the countryside. It is ideal for a quiet relaxing holiday but close enough to Lyon if you require city adventure. The owner was most helpful with tourist information. The house is very clean and we would have no hesitation in recommending it. This is one of 10 different VRBO sites we have stayed in and we would rank it as one of the best. The Walkers
