Location: Guerneville, Russian River, Sonoma County, Wine Country, California, USA
Accommodations: Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Convertible Bed(s), 1.25 Baths (Sleeps 2-4)
Beautifully restored, tastefully decorated and meticulously maintained, this historic and private cabin is nestled into the redwoods on the bank of the Russian River. Rumored to have been the rail conductors home in the early 1900s, it is now an exceptionally romantic get away. Spanning three levels, guests frequently respond “awesome” as they enter down a winding trail through the forest and into the slate floored solarium overlooking the river and redwoods. Also serving as an office, the solarium contains a desk, phone, color printer/fax and wireless internet.
The master bedroom has hardwood floors, cable television with combination DVD/CD player and stereo, an extremely comfortable firm mattress with Isotonic ® memory foam, luxurious bedding, down comforter and is surrounded by windows overlooking the tree tops and river. An adjoining dressing area and half bath contains a leather reading chair, an adorable wood burning pellet stove, and leads to an outdoor shower and the hot tub.
Slate stairs and floors throughout the house lead down to the second level with a combined kitchen and dining room. New stainless steel appliances and well appointed kitchen make this a perfect place to relax while cooking and overlooking the living room.
The third level living room contains a leather full-size sleeper sofa, over-stuffed reading chair, cable TV with DVD/CD player and stereo, skylight, and wood burning stove set into an exposed brick fireplace. The living room leads to a large deck with another dining table and gas grill overlooking the river. The spa like main bathroom with connecting dry cedar sauna overlooking the forest is the perfect place to relax while cleaning up from your river adventures.
Topping it off, there is an additional sun deck in front of an outside stone fireplace with a fully fenced in yard to ensure your pooches safety as they roam freely in the woods.
On site massage is available with local, certified professionals.
Convenient river access is a 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk to one of the best boat launches, swimming, sun bathing, and hiking areas along the river (note: the bridge to vacation beach is seasonal, and the beach is across the river).
This unique property is conveniently located between Guerneville and Monte Rio three quarters of a mile from Northwood Golf Course.
Important considerations: The TreeHouse comfortably accommodates 2 people, although another 1-2 can sleep on the living room sleeper sofa. Due to the multi-level architecture, high decks, and numerous fireplaces, no young young children or those who have difficulty with steps. There is moderate road noise from 116 which is adjacent to the river but hundreds of yards below the TreeHouse (most noticeable on busy holiday weekends, much less noticeable at night or in the winter).
Winter guests: Please note that the TreeHouse living room and dining area is heated primarily via a wood stove so you must maintain a fire on cold days. The bedroom is heated by a self feeding pellet stove. River activities are not advised due to the swift current. The sun deck does not get sun in the winter. The off season is however the most peaceful time to visit, as there are few vacationers and the forest is lush with seasonal creeks, moss and ferns.
Two night minimum stay, and three night minimum on holiday weekends. Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express accepted. One night's rate as an advance deposit is required to confirm a reservation. The deposit is refundable, less $20, if cancelled with at least two weeks notice.
The cleaning fee of $120 is mandatory and is a pass through fee to the house manager and housekeeper for cleaning, laundry, stocking (kitchen basics, firewood and drinking water), and being your nearby resource should you need assistance on site.
The $30 hot tub cleaning fee is a pass through fee to Spa Gals who maintain the hot tub in between every guest and are also your on-site resource should you need hot tub assistance.
We attempt to respond to inquiries within 48 hours but we are frequent travelers so we are at times delayed in responding.
Thank you for considering the TreeHouse, it is a unique, fun and peaceful escape capturing the artful quirkiness of the surrounding areas.

My Fiance and I stayed here for a week and our experience was absolutely amazing. The property owner has paid attention to every detail to make sure your stay is as comfortable and relaxing as possible. The outdoor hot tub is a great place to soak after a day of sipping at the local wineries. The outdoor shower is also a cool experience and shouldn't be missed. The sauna is a great place to start your day before going exploring. The kitchen is fully stocked and there is a grill to enjoy a meal in if you so desire. All in all I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing and romantic get away. We definitely will be staying here again when we head back out that way!
Owner response:Thank you, so glad you enjoyed the TreeHouse! It attracts wonderful people each of you adding such positive energy to the space so it just keeps getting better. Chad

The tree house is one of the cutest, most unique properties we've ever encountered and we couldn't bear to leave at the end of our stay. Every last amenity has been carefully provided, from ample fire wood, to a fine selection of games, to fluffy towels and robes. Thank you for opening your beautiful home to us!

My husband and I spent a week of our honeymoon at the amazing treehouse in November. The house had everything we needed for a romantic getaway. The redwoods surrounding the house are awe inspiring and the property itself it simply stunning. Touches such as flowers on the table, guides to local restaurants and wineries, plush robes and towels rival any hotel and you simply can't get over the privacy the location affords you. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the tools and staples you will need. Loved the signed Van Halen tour poster and the owner's book, cd and game collection will provide hours of entertainment. The bed was very comfortable and the bedding kept us cozy and warm on those chilly November nights. The sauna was certainly used to our advantage following a morning shower. We loved exploring the surrounding area and definitely recommend heading out to the coast for the tremendous views. Chad recommended the River's End in Jenner and we weren't disappointed. Definitely try and get a seating for sunset, it is worth it for the views and the food. Following the twists and turns of the Bohemian Hwy was a real adventure down to Bodega Bay for our Hitchcock experience. The area is a great base for exploring Sonoma. Don't forget to explore the town of Guernville itself it has some real treasures that shouldn't be missed. The Safeway is convenient but the service and yummies at the Coffee Bazaar shouldn't be missed. The Armstrong Woods are 10 minutes away from the house and offer a stunning experience in the redwoods. Don't forget the Sonoma Nesting Co. for local arts and kitsch. We picked up a wonderful painting "The Amazing Torso Man" and had a great time with the owners of the shop. I really hate to write this review and share this beautiful property with anyone but it deserves the praise. It is a beautiful home and those of us lucky enough to have stayed are fortunate to have found it and Chad. Thank you for sharing your beautifu holiday home.

We had a wonderful trip to Northern California where we stayed 5 nights in the Treehouse. The accommodations were perfect for us - a comfortable bed, house temperature was comfortable after lighting the two stoves and the sauna when we arrived home in the evenings, and everything we could possibly need was at our fingertips in the house. Day trips to the coast, wineries, or redwood forests were easily made. We also found a few good restaurants and the Safeway down the street was very convenient. Thank you for your hospitality! We would love to return some day!
Owner response:Thanks for the great review, I'm pleased you enjoyed the TreeHouse and the Russian River Valley! It's such a special place, I hope you are able to come back and see us again. Chad

Having never done a vacation rental before we were a bit hesitant to try this out - but the Redwood Tree House went far beyond even our best expectations! The property was a cool and cozy little home, nestled right in the redwoods. From our bed, we could see redwoods surrounding us from windows on 3 sides! The house was on several levels, with decks on 2 of them. We enjoyed s'mores by the outdoor fireplace each evening, plus a great view of the stars which we don't see like that at home. The bedding was luxurious, towels were bountiful and we enjoyed the redwood dry sauna, as well. The location was awesome - 20 minutes to the coast, 10 minutes to the totally fabulous Armstrong Redwoods State Park, 35 minutes to Healdsburg driving by many vineyards. The owner was very helpful with websites and info of what do do/see/eat around the area and directions. Biggest regret - only stayed two nights; we can't wait to come back.

Adam and I stayed at The Tree House for 11 nights in August 2010, it is exactly as described - it was just perfect for us. You feel very much at home as soon as you arrive, flowers on the dining table, robes in the bedroom. We enjoyed having a fire in the evenings, toasting marshmellows with a glass of wine!! This was our first visit to California, we live in the British Virgin Islands. The owner, Chad, was extremely helpful prior to our trip - providing information on the area and things to do. I would recommend this property.

Man, I can't believe I haven't added a comment yet. It's been almost a year since we stayed at the treehouse and I have not stopped talking about it and referring others to it since! Last April, we packed up the car with games, puzzles, DVD's, books, food and a hammock and headed North. It was a week of total relaxation. Better than any vacation I think we've ever had since we didn't leave but once or twice to get more food! The sauna was relaxing, the bed was extremely comfortable, the view was incredible, and the fireplace romantic! I especially appreciated the little touches that make this place so wonderful - the robes, the kitchen set up, the architectural details...we will definitely be back. Hopefully soon!

Love it! Chad was very accommodating, as are trip was last minute and I was/am recovering from surgery…we had everything we needed and more! We actually enjoyed cooking in, rather than going out. I will say the Mexican restaurant down the street was awesome! Overall want to plan a return trip and have recommended it to others(0= The only thing I would caution is a lot of stairs & if I would wish for one thing, a hot tub or big bath. It’s a lovely property, private and relaxing! The outdoor fireplace is wonderful... Oh and kayaking at the pritave beach in town, $20 all day rental! You can't beat that! The Armstrong Redwoods, amazing also!

My new bride and I were thrilled to discover this property is exactly as described. The private setting is enhanced by the surrounding Redwoods and Douglas Firs that cover the hillside. The interior is beautifully decorated and quite comfortable. The nature of the construction requires lots of stairs both inside and out, but the home is comfortable and well appointed and the kitchen is quite functional. We also loved grilling on the deck. The home was spotless upon our arrival and the owners were very engaging prior to our trip. They provided many great recommendations of things to see and do during our visit. We visited Armstrong State Park to hike among the Redwoods, canoed on the Russian River, spent the morning on the beach near Jenner, visited nearby Healdsburg twice, toured the Korbel winery and stopped in several winery tasting rooms. The Coffee Bazaar in Guernesville is a great place for breakfast and the local Chamber of Commerce was filled with relevant information that helped us make choices about how to spend our time. I recommend driving back to San Francisco via California 1 vice 101 to enjoy the scenery of the Pacific Ocean. When you do, don't neglect to stop at the bakery in Tomales for a snack! We thoroughly enjoyed our honeymoon in the tree house and plan to return to the area with the entire family in the years to come.

We stayed at the tree house with our 2 young sons for a few nights. What a beautiful cabin in a beautiful setting. The cabin itself is well appointed -- it felt luxurious to me and my husband, and fun and adventurous to our kids. There are a lot of stairs, so it may not be the place for kids who are learning to navigate steps. There is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy -- a fireplace and patio area plus a large deck with table and a gas grill. I will definitely recommend it to friends.
