And you didn't believe in heaven???

The Stellar's Jay's greeted me every morning with their beautiful Presence! The bridge, rapid water creek at your back door, FRESH air And MOST of all, Isabel's love for her home created an environment Of peace, solitude, honesty, oneness with our creator, and a yearning To want to never leave.... I felt totally at home in a fashion That I have not felt since being a young boy. The stories I read at the bench in the woods inspired me to reflect on all that is good. I have always said that evil has no boundaries... Yes it does! Evil does not penetrate Anima All the best for those who visit... Thank you Isabel

A magical mountain experience
A magical mountain experience
My family was fortunate enough to be able to stay in Isabel's cabin and we hope to return very soon! It really is a magical place! What I liked most about the cabin was the small outdoor living area by the stream that was open to anyone that might pass by. We saw a lot of ‘No Trespassing’ signs around other people’s cabins but not at Anima. My wife really loved falling asleep at nights with the sounds of the stream in the background. Isabel, thank you!

Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful in every way!!! Nature is happy that this cabin is here. You can sit on the deck to enjoy the woods, gurgling stream, birds and "peace" which surround you. You can also sit inside and note the "love" with which this cabin is decorated! May fun and friendship surround you as it did for me!!

Isabel and Bob have created a beautiful mountain retreat. The kitchen is a gourmet's delight and opens out in great room fashion on the dining and living rooms. The bedrooms are private and the large windows and decks bring the views of the mountain and the sound of the stream inside. Watch the hummingbirds or the dippers, explore for wildflowers or climb the mountain trails. This place has it all for nature lovers. Michal Bowen NY, NY

I have been to Anima three times, and each time I leave refreshed and relaxed. The cabin is comfortable and welcoming. It has been furnished with love, care, and attention to detail. Anima is a wonderful place that allows you to be as active as you wish, or simply sit back and enjoy the serenity of the mountains.

My wife and I stayed at Anima in late September. It was beautiful and romantic. It's so quiet at night you could hear the bears pooping. We spent alot of time by the stream just soaking up the beauty. It's also just minutes away from a good jumping off point for climbing Wheeler's Peak.

We spent our honeymoon at Anima after getting engaged on Wheeler Peak the year before. We loved being so close to the beautiful mountain trails of Taos in the summer. Isabel and Bob have created a peaceful, natural home nestled perfectly in the streamside scenery.

As you approach Anima the lovely blue door at the entrance quietly welcomes you. Before toting your stuff, take a tour of the cabin - visiting each room, the great deck which overlooks a wonderful stream. Take in the air! You will know you have chosen well. During your stay you will discover there is lots to do here and in the nearby areas. But perhaps, even better, you can choose not to do very much at all and be quite happy. (Exactly what I did during my visits). Not having to do anything can be a great vacation...ENJOY!

Anima is a beautiful little hide-a-way, where it is easy to become one with nature. All the stress and strain of ones busy life evaporates into the clear air shortly after arriving. There is a magic here that must be experinced rather than described. I have been there three times and each visit is one where my soul is refreshed. It is a place to be with yourself or with friends.

Sitting on the porch of this wonderful place over the rushing creek, watching the hummingbirds come to the feeders, is like nothing else you have experienced in a long time; utter peace. The whole cabin has such personality that you feel you have made a friend that you want to meet again and again. Of course the mountains themselves would be enough. Wonderful hikes are everywhere.

About the owner: Isabel lost her Bob IN 2012. It was a wonderful marriage, full of adventure and travel of the world doing home exchanges, but we always came home to Anima. Isabel is a retired elementary, and gifted ed. teacher, writer and author of Nonno's Monkey, an Italian American Memoir. She editing her second book, Tafoya's Laundromat, much of it, like Nonno, written at Anima. She manages two homes and is the general contractor and mini-maid of all seasons. She goes to Taos to do the laundry, hangs linens, then irons pillow cases, so that's why she has that three-day minimum. She believes truly in that harmony that comes to a soul, with the beauty that surrounds Anima. She is not interested in having a dishwasher, a washing machine or cable TV. She does relish PBS DVD's, good books, music, which are all at Anima, morning Caffe Robusto with the best sweet mountain water in the world, and an excellent 5PM Cab on the decks overlooking the year-round Lake Fork Stream. It is her greatest teacher. She believes in the healing value of simplicity.
Why the Owner Chose Taos Ski Valley:
If you're a hiker, backpacker, a mountain biker, you will be right on a ski and trail trek run for easy access to all the above. Isabel is a first generation Italian American whose people came from the Italian Alps. She's got a little mountain in every gene she possesses, so having this place wasn't a want or need, but a total obsession. Her Italian 'comeonna my house' persona delights in guests who share her love of this space, and who become friends.
