My husband and I live in Alaska and we wanted to treat our visiting relatives to the sights and activities in and around Kachemak Bay. We selected the Homer Lookout based on our need for a number of bedrooms and convenient location. The picture of the Spit from the house on this website does not do justice to the truly gorgeous view you have from several rooms. We found the accommodations spacious, clean, and had a great time cooking up a huge seafood dinner (fresh oysters from the co-op on the Spit are a "must do"). The only minor issue was that there were eight of us and only seven dining table chairs, but we just had the kids take turns sitting on a bar stool and it worked out fine.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+.

We had 9 people and the house was spacious and convenient, sometimes we'd run out of hot water for showers but everything else was perfectly sufficient. The view down to the Spit and across to the glacier was superb especially at night. Our wishlist of small things which may be added to improve the property is a hair dryer, a first aid kit, and an oyster knife (we bought one down on the Spit but took it with us ... the KB oysters are fantastic). We never figured out if a fishing license is needed not just for razor clams but also for run-of-the-mill mussels, these little black guys are all over in low tide and taste fantastic too.Did you find this review helpful? 4 bedroom house $300/night for 5 guests. $25 for each additional guest. 3/nt min. 7th night free. $100 non-refundable deposit required to reserve the house. Balance due 90 days before arrival. Cancellations less than 90 days before arrival receive a refund based on re-rental, less a $100 cancellation fee. No smoking inside. No pets. Travelers insurance is available online or your agent. A cell phone can be made available, upon request, with a fully refundable deposit.
