Great place to stay in Philadelphia!

Guest: Mark & Lynn (Augusta, GA)
Date of Stay: 09/25/11 Review Submitted: 10/02/11

We were looking for a place to rent within walking distance of Philadelphia's many historic sites -- we hit the jackpot with this condo! Right around the corner was the Betsy Ross house and other sites were only a few blocks (or less) away. The condo was also near various restaurants and also a small local grocery store (not a lot of items but deli meat, milk, bread, etc.). The condo was perfect for the two of us -- nice kitchen, bedroom, bath and living area -- we had everything we needed for our "home away from home". It is a "walk up" so be prepared to go up several flights of stairs (and the condo is on two levels as well). Craig (owner) was very helpful and accommodating. We arrived before the condo was ready for us (we had an early flight) but were allowed to leave our luggage so that we didn't have to drag it around behind us -- because of that, we were able to start our sightseeing immediately! Would definitely rent this condo again if we are in the Philadelphia area!

Great Philadelphia Location!

We had a wonderful 1 week stay in July 2011. This apartment is location is so convenient for touring Philadelphia. We walked to most of the historical locations but the subway, bus, and trolley bus are nearby. The owner was very welcoming and we loved that there were menus to local restaurants and information on local sites. It was so nice to return to such a comfortable apartment where we could prepare a meal or walk to nearby restaurants. We would stay here again in a heartbeat, if we're ever back in Philadelphia.

Great Location, Clean, Comfortable

Date of Stay: 06/30/11 Review Submitted: 07/08/11

Ideally located in Old City, this clean and comfortable apartment accommodated two travelers nicely. Downstairs in the bedroom, a foam-topped queen-size bed was a welcome call after a long day of busy tourism. Likewise, a well-appointed garden tub located in the adjacent bathroom afforded a relaxing soak for our walked-out feet. Upstairs, a spacious living area and kitchen provided more than ample space for cooking, dining or just lounging. While we perused the large book collection and surfed the web with the free wireless internet, a stacked washer/dryer next to the kitchen conveniently answered the call of our weary wardrobes. Craig was a gracious host when we arrived and spent nearly an hour talking with us about the city, tourism and local cuisine. We found his suggestions to be very helpful, which greatly contributed to the pleasure of our vacation. In the morning, my husband and I enjoyed cold frappuccinos and hot breakfast sandwiches at Starbucks, which is located just a few doors downs from the apartment building. Throughout our stay, we parked our car at the pay parking lot across the street- the attendants there were very friendly and reasonable- and we walked and took public transportation. Attractions within walking distance include: Betsy Ross' House, National Constitution Center, Liberty Hall, Philadelphia Mint, City Tavern, and many other popular sites. When we visited places a little further away, like the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Franklin Institute, we took the SEPTA (enter Market-Frankford Line at 2nd St. Station, take the free interchange at 13th to the Trolley Line, exit at 22nd). As we navigated about the city's cobblestone streets, my iPhone's map app was very helpful and reliable too. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in the City of Brotherly Love and hope to return again soon. Thank you, Craig, for providing us such convenient and hospitable accommodations during our stay in your vibrant city!

Perfect Location - Very Helpful Owner

Date of Stay: 06/01/11 Review Submitted: 06/19/11

My newly-retired mother and I stayed here for a few days of site-seeing. The apartment was very conveniently located for everything we wanted to visit - within walking distance of the historic section and the old city and easy walks to bus and train stops for further attractions. The owner was very, very helpful as we planned our trip and went well out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed to make our trip pleasant. The apartment is on the 3rd and 4th floors of a walk-up building, so I could see that if you planned to be in and out several times per day the stairs could get old. But we only came and went a couple times each day and we had no problem. The apartment itself was very clean and comfortable and remarkably quiet for such a central location. I would definitely recommend this place to stay in Philly!

Marvelous apartment! Very clean, well equipped, spacious, quiet. The location is very convenient in the picturesque Old City, close to most of Philadelphia's major historical sights. It's a 10-15 minute easy walk to the convention center. I highly recommend this apartment and will surely stay there again when I return to Phily. Thanks Craig for a great visit.

A Great Time in Philly

Date of Stay: 04/26/11 Review Submitted: 05/04/11

My husband and I rented this property between Apr. 26 & May 3, 2011. We wanted a central location from which to explore historic Philadelphia. We were extremely happy with the apartment and the fabulous location which is about a block from the historic Betsy Ross house and many other historic sites. Craig, the owner, met us when we arrived and showed us around. He was extremely friendly, helpful, and very willing to assist in any way he could. The property is clean, well appointed, and accurately represented in the listing. We learned a few things about the area that might be helpful to other travelers: * Get to the Visitor Center early (before noon) to get tickets for Independence Hall, the Todd House, walking tours etc. The tickets seem to go quickly. * Be wary about taking the Hop On Hop Off tour if heavy rain is predicted. We were on a tour during a thunderstorm and water was gushing in numerous places from the ceiling on the main floor (the upper level has no roof.) Everyone had to stand up to avoid getting wet. * There is a liquor store on 2nd street between Market & Chestnut St. * Don't miss Eastern State Penitentiary - you've never seen a 182 year old prison like this one! * Food prices at the corner stores in the Old City may shock you. * There are scads of restaurants and shops on South Street - the area has a very Bohemian atmosphere, - you walk through 250+ year-old neighborhoods to get there. * You can bring your own bottle of wine to the Lovash Indian Restaurant on South St. (Between 2nd & 3rd Streets.) That's pretty much it, it's easy to have a good time in Philly.

Historical Philadelphia - perfect spot

Guest: Tibo (Pittsburgh)
Date of Stay: 03/25/11 Review Submitted: 03/28/11

We spent a WE with my wife in this apartment to discover Philly. We had such a good experience that we will definitely be back in the future. The owner is very kind man, very dedicated and available. The place itself is clean, efficient, and well decorated. The location is near perfect, easily accessible from the I-76, so close form the museum and attraction that you can even afford to get back to the apartment for an hour and rest without wasting your day, and you won't need your car for your entire stay. Here is the only downside of the location: parking your vehicle will cost you. But we were happy to put up with it so much Philadelphia and this apartment has to offer. Just to finish this place is surrounded by amazing coffee shops, pubs and restaurants that will for sure enlighten your stay, just ask the owner he knows the area inside out. Our best were Cafe Ole for breakfast and National Mechanics for a drink. Overall, this place is a win. The owner is great, the apartment is affordable and well worth it. Go for it. We will do it again.

Wonderful Place To Stay – Great Location!

Guest: Doug (Boston, MA)
Date of Stay: 02/20/11 Review Submitted: 02/26/11

Our family had originally reserved at a nearby hotel, but noticed that this apartment was available for the same price. We are thoroughly satisfied with our stay during February school vacation. The host communicated a lot of useful information beforehand, and is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Philadelphia. The apartment provided plenty of space for our daughter and us, with kitchen and living room upstairs and bedroom and bath below. The location is convenient to Independence Historical Park, and yet was perfectly quiet at night. We found the apartment to be extremely clean, and loved the neighborhood. We highly recommend this vacation rental, and hope to return for a future visit.
