Luv It. It was a romantic weekend away from the kids and it could not have gone better. This historic home is right in Downtown Boulder and we were able to walk to Pearl St. The guest suite; Beautiful , huge, luxurious, clean, very peaceful, private. We loved the fireplace and the bathroom was as good as any I have ever seen. The Schuh family handled everything. The booking was easy and they even accepted our Visa card. How fortunate were we to come to town and stay in one of the nicest homes in Boulder.

Thank you so much for everything Richard and Kelly - Delightful meeting you and Maddie as well. Appreciate all the hospitality and having all of our needs met. We sure hit the weather just right ! We could not have been more pleased with your rental- in and out. Never got my grilled lamb chops, but otherwise we did everything we set out to do and then some. It was so great bringing my family together in your home. Sorry we got a little loud with the games and cards. Hugs, Dot

Clean, cozy and very comfortable
Clean, cozy and very comfortable
My family stayed in the property for a week and we found the accommodations everything we expected, and more. We liked how the owners communicated from the first email (answered in less than an hour) to a text message for early checkin. Everything was spelled out in a folder we found on the desk that let us settle right in. My husband put it best - " how did we land here" Saying the home is beautiful is an understatement . All I can add is that the reviews are spot on and the owners go out of their way to make sure the guest suite is ready for you the moment you arrive. The neighborhood is the best in Boulder and the owners could not be more accommodating. We like that they leave you alone. The last vacation rental we stayed at the owners made us feel very uncomfortable with all of their questions. Not here. If you need something, just let them know. If not, they are totally hands off. Nick loved the fireplace and I loved the big sub-zero fridge and the washer / dryer. On top of that - no sales tax or bogus fees that hotels always hit you for. Pearl Street is 2.5 blocks away and we were able to walk for coffee and to meet our friends who stayed at the Boulderado. We had them over for drinks one night and they could not believe what we paid to stay at one of the nicest homes in Boulder.

Perfect Boulder Location
Perfect Boulder Location
This was the perfect place to stay for our visit to Boulder. Only a few blocks easy walk from Pearl Street Mall. Richard gave us some dinner suggestions that we're exactly what we were looking for. Definitely take advantage of the bikes since it's easy to bike around town. We highly suggest the Boulder Creek Trail. The bed was very comfortable and the unit was beautiful. Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect spot to explore the Boulder area. We hiked and biked the Flatiirons, drove the Trail Ridge Road and it was always nice to come back to a cozy place to relax and spread out without the hassles of staying at a hotel. Very clean, quite and would highly recommend for anyone coming to Boulder.

Owner response: John, Yes, the location is perfect to access all that Boulder has to offer. Richard and I agree, hotels are a hassle. The taxes and hidden charges are the worst. Richard hates the power hinges on all of the hotel doors that make them "Slam" shut. At 7-8 am it sound like a firing range with all of the doors slamming from the morning rush. We love to stay at VRBO properties ourselves. It makes us better hosts because we get great ideas all of the time. Thanks again John ! Dr. Kelly and Richard Schuh
Dog Friendly; perfect for a couple looking to escape
Dog Friendly; perfect for a couple looking to escape
My husband and I, with dog, rented this place with the hopes of being able to experience everything Boulder has to offer and this place was PERFECT! The owners respect your privacy and take a step back to let you enjoy your vacation with no strings attached. The entry is private and you can "check in" at any time. This was perfect as we were driving up through the state and couldn't be sure what time we would arrive. The rooms were exactly as pictured and you can tell when they remodeled the place they didn't take any short cuts. It has a "cellar" type feel and even though you're in the basement you would never know. There were plenty of appliances available to cook with although we didn't use them. The location of this rental is also perfect for exploring Boulder. Only three blocks from pearl street, you have access to all the great restaurants and shopping. Farmers market on Wednesdays and Saturdays just a short walk away. Also, only a short car ride to excellent hiking/biking routes. Rocky Mountain Nation Park was an hour drive that went by very quickly due to the excellent views along the route. If we go back for another visit I know this would be the place we would choose to stay!

Owner response: Rebecca, We know how important privacy is. Our guest suite is your home while you are in Boulder. If you need anything from an extra blanket to a restaurant referral - we are here for you. Other than that, we are totally hands off. To our future guests: We use a lockbox system that generates a unique code for each guest allowing you to check-in anytime after 4 Pm - MST. This allows for you to check-in - and out - on your own schedule. If you want to say hello while you are here- great. If not, that's OK too. About 30% of our guests - we never meet.
Perfect for Boulder Experience
Perfect for Boulder Experience
Stayed here for only one night, wish it could have been longer. Boulder is such a wonderful town with a lot to offer and this rental puts you right in the middle of it all. 2 blocks from Pearl St., 10 minute drive to the awesome dog park, 10 minute drive to all sorts of hikes. The apartment is gorgeous and very comfortable. We had a dog with us, which the owners had no problems with. The owners also allowed us to stay even though they were out of town and though I did not get to meet them in person, my interactions with them via email and phone were very positive and they were very accommodating. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Owner response: To all of our future guests. Yes, we do have a 3 night minimum but are happy to fill in a single day when we have another guest right before you and right after you. Our calendar is alway's in real time. Please check the calendar first - then send us your requested day's and we will get back to you usually within an hour. Our goal is to accommodate you if we can. Our shortest stay has been one night and the longest 6 month's. Thanks Peter ! Dr. Kelly & Richard Schuh
Buyer beware - These accomidations are even nicer that advertised. My wife Katheryn and our daughter Lily made this our home for a week while in Boulder for the wedding of my neice. The rest of the party stayed at The Boulderado Hotel which was 5 blocks away. We wanted our own private space away from the group so we could come and go as we wish. We apreciated that they always got back to us straight away with any question or request. Our first e-mail was answered in 20 minutes! The home was a very nice way to come to Boulder and be very comfortable without being right on top of all of our group back at the hotel. (No tax as well ! ). We appreciated having a kitchen, washer - dryer and the fireplace. The home was beautifully done and the space was very large at about 90 meters. It was maintained very well and you could see that a great amount of care went into everything. Richard gave us his GPS for a trip to Denver to see a play at the Buell Theature. It was a very nice gesture and made the trip back to Boulder in the dark that much easier.

Owner response: Martin and Kate, It was great having you both. We have had many guests who have come to town for weddings. As well, the guest suite has been home base for the bridesmaids - three times. The location and proximity to both The Boulderado and The Julien make it a nice choice.
I would absolutely stay at this property again. Our experience with the owners was very good. They responded to our first email within 5 minutes and we were able to complete everything in 5 more through the VRBO website. They texted us for early arrival and had some spices for us for a dinner at home. I can attest to the quality of this guest book as I tried to submit a review and it got kicked back because the email did not match the one on file for VRBO. The owners have an amazing home with a private guest suite filled with nice furniture and warm family photos. It really felt like we were staying at a friends home.

Owner response: Madison, We hope to see you again. Thanks for the nice review. Yes, the only way to place a review is if your e-mail matches the one used for booking through VRBO. We laugh when people say we cook our guest book. It's entirely controlled by VRBO/HomeAway and we couldn't even if we wanted to. How did we get 150+ reviews ? We earned them over 5 years, one at a time. We enjoyed having you. It's guests like you that make the entire VRBO experience so rewarding.
I traveled all the way from Davos Switzerland for The conference on World affairs that was hosted at The University of Colorado Boulder. My husband and I arrived late and were exhausted after a grueling day of travel. What a relief to find our accommodations in perfect order. The lights were on and everything was waiting for us, including flowers. The home was referred to us by a friend who had stayed here twice. I can see why. The owners have done a remarkable job of renovating a historic home. Although the home is 100 + years old, you would never know it by the well designed and executed floor plan and use of materials. We are used to old homes in Europe and know the task of keeping an old home properly maintained and current. This home has achieved both. We particularly enjoyed the location and proximity to the University, which was an easy 10 minute walk along a beautiful tree lined street. We appreciate everything Kelly & Richard did for us. Bravo !

About the owner: Richard & I are only the 4th owners of this historic Boulder home in 112 years. We have been on VRBO for 5 years and have hosted over 200 guests. The home has been carefully restored and we are proud to be the next generation to carry the torch. Richard is a small business owner and I am a Doctor. The main part of the home is our primary residence, with the guest suite being completely private. You will have your own private entrance and bath as well as a fireplace and kitchenette. If you have not already seen our video here is the link : http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aNZCKHpHrDM We look forward to having you as guests !! Kelly & Richard
Why the Owner Chose Boulder:
The home is our primary residence with the guest suite being extra space that is not needed at this time until we have children. Richard bought the home in September of 2006 just after the renovation. He was in town after an Outward Bound Excursion and discovered the home while riding a bike through the historic district. It came down to 'If I don't buy this home , I am going to regret it' So he bought it and moved from Minnesota.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
