Alta Mira, in Vieques, Puerto Rico is a house with large glass windows and ocean views from three sides. The comfortable living area opens through sliding glass doors to a wide deck overlooking the ocean, islands in the distance, and the Spanish Fort Conde de Mirasol.
The house is built into the side of a hill so the deck nestles among the tops of mango, grapefruit, guava and avocado trees. Some evenings the cattle egrets fly by at eye-level on their way to roost.
The house is very private yet located in a friendly neighborhood. It’s wonderful to be able to stroll down the hill to restaurants and shopping in Isabel II and be within easy driving distance to all the beaches.
It has a lovely walled yard with an herb garden and flowers always in bloom. It’s a rare day when hummingbirds are not dipping their needle-like bills into yellow canarias, red firecrackers and multi-colored hibiscus blossoms in the garden below. There, a hammock swings beneath a Seville orange tree ready for post-beach snoozes.
Help yourself to key limes, basil, rosemary, oregano and other herbs to take upstairs to the kitchen. The kitchen was designed with folk who enjoy cooking in mind. In addition to all the expected appliances – blender, microwave, etc., we also have a food processor, a Kitchen Aid heavy-duty mixer, an electric citrus juicer, sharp chef-quality knives for every purpose, and matching service for eight. Even if you’re not that into cooking you’ll appreciate the high quality sauté pans and pasta pots to warm-up restaurant “take-homes” or make some spur-of-the-moment spaghetti.
The rest of the house is just as thoughtfully furnished including original art and bookshelves filled with hundreds of titles from all genres.

The owners, David and Leslie, live downstairs and go out of their way to make sure that your every need is met---and you don't need fresh garden tomatoes but don't be too surprised if David gives you some out of his garden.?The home is located in a neighborhood, so don't be surprised if you get a chance to use some of that h.s. Spanish. The house is also very well-equipped.not only with everyihing you might need for the beach, but also for the kitchen, bath, and laundry. This is our fourth year,

"Alta Mira offers a relaxing atmosphere with outstanding views." This comfortable home not only has the views,is convenient to town by walking and convenient to the multiple magnificent beaches, but also The owners are the best and offer bikes, snorkel gear, and intiment knowledge of the Island.On top of all that they are friendly and offer a great library of reading material. You will have a great time. We return every year.

Alta Mira House was wonderful. From the balcony off of the living room you can see the atlantic ocean, it's a wonderful spot to sit and have a cup of coffee or tea. The yard is beautiful with fruit trees and flowering plants. The inside of the house was very comfortable and immaculately clean, our family felt at home, in fact we did'nt want to leave. The location of the home is central to everything. This is a no brainer i would highly recommend alta Mira House for your stay in Vieques.
