Location: Smugglers Notch, Vermont, USA (Underhill, VT)

Accommodations:  Renovated Farmhouse, 5 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 3 Baths (Sleeps 9-12)

Our renovated 180 year-old farmhouse is nestled in a small valley that lies under majestic Mt. Mansfield. Surrounded by farmland and knock-your-socks-off mountain views, our home is a place of peace and serenity that overlooks acres of pastures, streams, and woodlands.

Unlike other old farmhouses that have small rooms and confined spaces, our home has an open floor plan with 8 ft. ceilings, creating an atmosphere that is light and airy. Decorated in warm greens and earthy colors, each room has its own charm and character.

Three bedrooms have either queen-size or full beds, and the other two bedrooms have single beds. The master bedroom has a private full bath, while the other bedrooms share a bathroom. Large floor areas can accommodate air mattresses and sleeping bags. The kitchen is fully equipped and ready for the most accomplished cook to prepare gourmet feasts.

Underhill and the surrounding region have an amazing array of opportunities for everyone’s taste. If you’re an outdoor enthusiast and like your days to be filled with adventure and adrenaline, there’s a whole network of trails right outside our back door for cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing (you can rent snowshoes for the day or week at our local general store). Our town boasts of one of the best sledding hills around and that’s just a five minute drive away. But if you’re the type that just likes to take walks down a beautiful country road, you’ll be overwhelmed by the beauty and majestic mountain views.

At Smuggler’s Notch Ski Resort (only 8 miles away), there are groomed cross-country ski trails and a skating arena as well as excellent downhill skiing and snow-boarding. If you’d like to try other ski areas, Stowe is just 45 minutes away (or you can ski to it from Smuggs) and Jay Peak is the same distance. If you are very adventurous, try ice climbing up in the Notch!

For those looking for more cultural activities, there is no lack of beautiful vistas for the photographer and artist. There are multitudes of antique shops, art galleries, farmer markets, restaurants, theatres, and shops all within a 40 minutes radius that includes the resort town of Stowe and Vermont’s largest city, Burlington.

After your day’s activities, come back home to relax and thaw out in front of the open-fire woodstove. Or, put on some soft music and stretch your tired muscles in our yoga studio, a renovated family room that now provides a wonderful space with polished wide pine floors for yoga and meditation practice (for more information about the studio, click on the link at the bottom of this page that says Dakini Studio).

Our home is the perfect place for your Vermont vacation. It is also the perfect setting for celebrations like weddings and graduations. Invite your family, friends and relatives to stay here with you. There are plenty of businesses in the area that would be happy to help you with catering and other services you might need. Contact us with any questions or concerns you have. We’ll be glad to help!

    • A little piece of heaven. Thanks Lisa and Mike for sharing your charming home. Immaculate, cozy, and inviting, the perfect setting for our 4 generation family get together. The spacious yard was great for games, young and old enjoyed the magnificent views and lovely gardens. A fun filled weekend of family games, hiking, swimming and golfing not to mention all the eating and laughs. A great time was had by all.

    • What a charming place. We found this farmhouse immaculately clean with all of our needs anticipated. Lisa even found time the week before Christmas to make casseroles for us to pop in the oven after skiing. We loved reading the history, playing the games, and only regret not making time to play the dance party video. The snow could have cooperated more, but toward weekenf it was wonderful. We will definately return.

    • The house is beautiful and in excellent condition with all the advantages of a modern home but in a beautiful scenic area. the wood stove was wonderful and added a romantic country atmosphere. We were two families with 4 adults and 5 children and the house was very spacious for all of us. The amount of games that were left for us to use was amazing and contributed to a wonderful "home" feeling. The kitchen was superb with all appliances needed to make great meals. The house is located 20 minutes drive away from the smugglers resort and a 5 minute drive to general stores which carry anything you need. Mike and Lisa were wonderful and we would definetely stay at there place agin!!!!

    • We just returned from a very enjoyable and relaxing stay at Lisa and Mike's. We were their first B&B guests and everything was top notch. The house was comfortable and warm and the grounds and mountain views were great. Lisa and Mike did everything to make us feel welcome and they provided many tips for exploring the area. Great breakfasts too. We pick blackberries from the backyard for the tasty pancakes.

    • We just spent a glorious July week of sunshine in this lovely old farmhouse. We shared the time with our daughter and her family of two little girls, 2 and almost 5. The views and ambience were perfect! The generous porches overlooking the idyllic Vermont scenery, big old trees, cows across the way grazing in the fields and incredible mountains. The yoga studio was a great space for kids to run around and play games. There were horses and chicken to visit and lovely flowers and vegetable gardens which were a source of beauty and fresh herbs and veggies. And, to top it all off, the owners couldn't be nicer or more relaxed. Thank you Lisa and Mike. Mignonne, Bill, Maia , Brett, Amelia, Eliza and Santo the dog.

    • We stayed at Mike and Lisa's home for our family vacation in June. It felt just like home; it was very comfortable. We met Mike and Lisa and they are very nice folks and made us feel very welcomed. The view of Mt. Mansfield was spectacular. The house was very convenient for getting into town (Jeffersonville). The flowers and the birds were beautiful. It was just great. Our 10-month old grandchild was with us and the house accomodated him just fine. We also took advantage of the yoga room and the yoga mats. It was very nice having access to whatever needed harvesting in the vegetable garden (which was lettuce in June). Altogether, we all had a wonderful experience.

    • We just returned from an all-too-short a stay, and where on earth could we have found a better place to kick back, relax and enjoy? It is definitely a spot where you can settle in the moment you arrive and wish life could always be so tranquil and at the same time full of robust activities. The residing rooster has a lot more to crow about than his adoring flock of hens.
