Elegantly situated in the Provençal countryside one find "Villa MAS COTE SUD" with its fabulous view on the Luberon mountain. Faces south across a vast and largely uninhabited and quite spectacular valley, in the heart of a 120 acres estate planted with truffles oak trees and lavander, just 2 minutes from the village of Buoux in the Luberon National Park. A very special spot indeed....
Seemingly miles from anywhere with its wide-open spaces, tranquility, great views and wildlife, you're equidistant between the market town of Apt and the medieval and exquisite town of Lourmarin with its galleries and restaurants.Just 10 minutes from Bonnieux, Aix en Provence and Avignon are 45 minutes drive and Marseille airport just over the hour.
Buoux and the surrounding countryside is extremely well known for rock climbing, biking and hiking. With a fabulous old Chateau and an extraordinary medieval fort it's a photographers', hikers' and painters' delight. Also well know in the village and serving excellent meals, are the Auberge de la Loube (see "A year in Provence " by Peter Mayle !) and L' Auberge des Seguins.
This southern portion of an 18th century farm, has been tastefully renovated and awaits your holiday dreams.
It has its own entrance, driveway and parking as well as a pool and side terrace, both of which are private and unseen from the owner's side.
On, the ground floor there is a large private bedroom with bathroom in suite as well as a living/dining room adjoining a fully equipped kitchen.
The kitchen has been designed around an ancient bread oven into the wall centuries ago. The living room opens onto two terraces shaded by two Mulberry trees. From the terraces you are surrounded by impressive views of the Grand Luberon.
From a separate outside staircase you reach the second floor with a small sitting room with TV and fire place. There are also the 2 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms in suite .
All tensions dissolves as you gaze into the infinite sky and breath the fresh air of this pristine natural setting.
The owner can speak fluent English, which is very helpfull !

This property looks exactly the same as the pictures. We only stayed for a week but had such a wonderful time we could have stayed for a month. It is very peaceful and quiet yet not far from several interesting places to visit. The house is very clean and the property is immaculately maintained. The owner speaks excellent English and was very helpful. I would highly recommend this property.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thank you Kristi and George!! Yes, Mathilde and I are happy to speak English. By experience we understand that it allow us to help our guest as well as possible. It must be Mathilde' s Belgium blood but she is very "touchy" to offer to our guests a nice and clean house!!!

It will be nearly impossible to relate just how magical, special, romantic, and stunning La Cote Sud was. In fact, it was life changing. Bernard and Mathilde are consummate professionals, offering some of the most well appointed, clean, and stunning accommodations I have ever seen - and I'm a hotelier by trade! Bernard speaks English quite well, and they are completely ready to help with all sorts of advice, recommendations, and more. They respect your privacy, and are never intrusive, but always available and willing to talk. What's more, the land and location of Buoux is intoxicating - the lavender fields, the truffle oaks, the cliff edges and massif valley is a sight to behold - something that grabs onto you and never lets go. It felt like a mini Yosemite to me, and adventuring up and down the cliff faces was a joyous surprise. Hiking, Horses, and stunning views, the land was paradise. The century old Fort de Buoux was as impressive as it was mystifying... the Buoux Luberon truly compelled us, and it will be a place we will visit for the rest of our lives. It is remote, so that you feel like you are in a different world, and a different time. But it is also incredibly near the best of Provence, such as Lourmarin, and Bonnieux. From Farmer's Markets, shopping, wine, and incredible restaurants - it's a perfect location as your home base, with just a little bit of driving (15 minutes, give or take) to get around. For more options, the village of Apt is no more than 20 minutes. The kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom are immaculate, and the house was perfect for our purposes, in every way! I am a bit tall (6'6" / 2M ) and hit my head if I wasn't aware... but it's not that bad and only in one or two spots. The king size bed was a must for me, and we slept wonderfully! I will run out of space before finishing my kind words, but I must say thank you to Bernard and Mathilde! THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO! We will be back, and miss your estate terribly! What's more - any guests will do themselves a disservice if you leave without some of Bernard & Mathilde's Truffles! They are quite affordable, and incredibly delicious! Thank you again! - Michael H.Owner response: Dear Michael, Thank you so much for such a delighful letter and review! We receive regularly sweet reviews but yours is so special, full of positive emotion. We are so happy you both spent & enjoyed your stay in Provence & particularly at home. Shure the landscape & sightseeing are quite smashing in Marrenon-we've not done it-god probably did ! It's a great chance to live here & share with our guests, almost when they are as chearfull than you were. Each word you wrote is a sort of reward for Bernard & I . For shure we have been trying for COTE SUD your house and Mas Augusta and La Baume Victoire to do our best to keep things nice and clean...as if each house was ours but we must pay a tribute to the team who help.Shure they all follow our instructions but it's quite a job for them all and they do their best too. Tomorrow-saturday-the staff will be here=7 persons. I will translate & read them your adorable letter ,i bet they will be enchanted. Anyway we wish you both all the best for the following years. We ' ve been delighted to meet you and Lauren and I hope heartly to see you again at Marrenon a next time and if you wish , share a good bottle of the famous Luberon 'rose'- another way to seal our friendship & next welcoming back in Provence. Hugge hugs Bernard & Mathilde

Sehr ruhige Lage, wunderschön, manchmal schlenderte ein Wildschwein über den Rasen. Der Pool ist sehr gut, schön gemacht. Der Vermieter ist professionel, kümmert sich sofort, wenn etwas sein sollte.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Un grand Merci Lison. Rien ne nous fais plus plaisir que de bonnes vacances pour nos "guests". Nous souhaitons avoir encore beaucoup de vacanciers aussi chaleureux et sympathiques. Bien à vous. Bernard&Mathilde.

We stayed at Cote Sud for 2 weeks in October with 2 other couples. We had a wonderful stay and loved our rural retreat. The villa has plenty of room with 3 bedrooms and it was great to each have our own bathroom. The weather was beautiful and it was so nice to come home from a day of sightseeing and relax on our terrace with a nice glass of French wine and admire the stunning views across the valley. Bernard and Mathilde were wonderful hosts and always friendly and helpful, with lots of good suggestions for touring, walks or delicious restaurants to sample. Some nights we cooked in the well equiped kitchen from produce gathered at local markets. We ate at all the restaurants in Buoux and highly recommend them all. The area has lovely walks from the villa and the valley is so peaceful and beautiful, we have such lovely photos and memories of our stay. Thank you for your kind hospitalityOwner response: Thank you very much Rosemary. We hope also to have many others guests as friendly as you and your friends were . Very best regards.Bernard & Mathilde

We went 2 weeks in September, much better period than I thought it would be: nice weather and no crowd! The farmhouse was very clean, fully furnished (incl bed for our baby) with a lovely interior. We also enjoyed the stunning view of the valley... We still have great memories of our horse rides experience in the Luberon!!Owner response: Thank you very much Viki, Mathilde will be happy to hear that you appreciate her work!! You had a great idea to come after the summer to enjoy one of the best period at a cheaper price!! Best regards. Bernard

We had a wonderful week in early May. The location and setting of the house is fabulous and must surely be one of the most stunning in this part of Provence. There's plenty to do and see locally, and there are some lovely walks from the property up into the Luberon hills. The accomodation was clean, comfortable, quiet and relaxing, with some great views. Bernard was an excellent host and our stay was a very memorable one.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Dear Ian and Lorraine, Thank you so much for your review. It is right that Domaine de Marrenon is a very special spot and that around there is so much to do and see (typical Provence villages, Pope castle in Avignon, Aix en Provence and museums, 12th century Fort in Buoux etc...) that often our guest have to come back after just a week stay !!!... Best regards. Bernard

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: After 15 years spent in Paris for business, Mathilde and I were so happy to start a new life in 1990 in Provence country side. We can now enjoy nature far away from the rushing life of Paris.... On our estate (120 acres) we grow Lavender and truffles oak trees and of course we manage our two stony houses restored a few years ago.
Why the Owner Chose Buoux:
Provence and especialy our lettle village of Buoux is such an pleasant place to live that we were wondering why not sharing this place with others.
Every thing is there...
If you like nature, we are surrounded by a wild , green and peaceful landscape.
If you like culture there are so many museums, monuments to see: Pope castle in Avignon, Roman ruins in Arles , Saint Remy de provence, typical provençal villages, the town of Aix en Provence with its lettle streets, bars and old houses etc...
And all that in a secure area, with a nice and sunny weather, not any dangerous animals...and interesting people to meet!!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
A tremendous area, perfect all year round, sunny country place, living in a very special ancient house, (17 th century) though very comfortable,
