Elegantly situated in the Provençal countryside one find "Villa MAS COTE SUD" with its fabulous view on the Luberon mountain. Faces south across a vast and largely uninhabited and quite spectacular valley, in the heart of a 120 acres estate planted with truffles oak trees and lavander, just 2 minutes from the village of Buoux in the Luberon National Park. A very special spot indeed....
Seemingly miles from anywhere with its wide-open spaces, tranquility, great views and wildlife, you're equidistant between the market town of Apt and the medieval and exquisite town of Lourmarin with its galleries and restaurants.Just 10 minutes from Bonnieux, Aix en Provence and Avignon are 45 minutes drive and Marseille airport just over the hour.
Buoux and the surrounding countryside is extremely well known for rock climbing, biking and hiking. With a fabulous old Chateau and an extraordinary medieval fort it's a photographers', hikers' and painters' delight. Also well know in the village and serving excellent meals, are the Auberge de la Loube (see "A year in Provence " by Peter Mayle !) and L' Auberge des Seguins.
This southern portion of an 18th century farm, has been tastefully renovated and awaits your holiday dreams.
It has its own entrance, driveway and parking as well as a pool and side terrace, both of which are private and unseen from the owner's side.
On, the ground floor there is a large private bedroom with bathroom in suite as well as a living/dining room adjoining a fully equipped kitchen.
The kitchen has been designed around an ancient bread oven into the wall centuries ago. The living room opens onto two terraces shaded by two Mulberry trees. From the terraces you are surrounded by impressive views of the Grand Luberon.
From a separate outside staircase you reach the second floor with a small sitting room with TV and fire place. There are also the 2 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms in suite .
All tensions dissolves as you gaze into the infinite sky and breath the fresh air of this pristine natural setting.
The owner can speak fluent English, which is very helpfull !

Owner's Map of Buoux
After 15 years spent in Paris for business, Mathilde and I were so happy to start a new life in 1990 in Provence country side.
We can now enjoy nature far away from the rushing life of Paris....
On our estate (120 acres) we grow Lavender and truffles oak trees and of course we manage our two stony houses restored a few years ago.

This property looks exactly the same as the pictures. We only stayed for a week but had such a wonderful time we could have stayed for a month. It is very peaceful and quiet yet not far from several interesting places to visit. The house is very clean and the property is immaculately maintained. The owner speaks excellent English and was very helpful. I would highly recommend this property.
Owner response:Thank you Kristi and George!! Yes, Mathilde and I are happy to speak English. By experience we understand that it allow us to help our guest as well as possible. It must be Mathilde' s Belgium blood but she is very "touchy" to offer to our guests a nice and clean house!!!

Owner response:Un grand Merci Lison. Rien ne nous fais plus plaisir que de bonnes vacances pour nos "guests". Nous souhaitons avoir encore beaucoup de vacanciers aussi chaleureux et sympathiques. Bien à vous. Bernard&Mathilde.

We stayed at Cote Sud for 2 weeks in October with 2 other couples. We had a wonderful stay and loved our rural retreat. The villa has plenty of room with 3 bedrooms and it was great to each have our own bathroom. The weather was beautiful and it was so nice to come home from a day of sightseeing and relax on our terrace with a nice glass of French wine and admire the stunning views across the valley. Bernard and Mathilde were wonderful hosts and always friendly and helpful, with lots of good suggestions for touring, walks or delicious restaurants to sample. Some nights we cooked in the well equiped kitchen from produce gathered at local markets. We ate at all the restaurants in Buoux and highly recommend them all. The area has lovely walks from the villa and the valley is so peaceful and beautiful, we have such lovely photos and memories of our stay. Thank you for your kind hospitality
Owner response:Thank you very much Rosemary. We hope also to have many others guests as friendly as you and your friends were . Very best regards.Bernard & Mathilde

We went 2 weeks in September, much better period than I thought it would be: nice weather and no crowd! The farmhouse was very clean, fully furnished (incl bed for our baby) with a lovely interior. We also enjoyed the stunning view of the valley... We still have great memories of our horse rides experience in the Luberon!!
Owner response:Thank you very much Viki, Mathilde will be happy to hear that you appreciate her work!! You had a great idea to come after the summer to enjoy one of the best period at a cheaper price!! Best regards. Bernard

We had a wonderful week in early May. The location and setting of the house is fabulous and must surely be one of the most stunning in this part of Provence. There's plenty to do and see locally, and there are some lovely walks from the property up into the Luberon hills. The accomodation was clean, comfortable, quiet and relaxing, with some great views. Bernard was an excellent host and our stay was a very memorable one.
Owner response:Dear Ian and Lorraine, Thank you so much for your review. It is right that Domaine de Marrenon is a very special spot and that around there is so much to do and see (typical Provence villages, Pope castle in Avignon, Aix en Provence and museums, 12th century Fort in Buoux etc...) that often our guest have to come back after just a week stay !!!... Best regards. Bernard
