My wife and I stayed in this apartment for 6 days over Easter 2012. The apartment is in an ideal location for walking in the central part of the city, close to restaurants, shopping and the major tourist sites. It is comfortable, quiet and contained everything we needed. Our hosts, Hector and Ana were gracious and helpful. I have no hesitation in recommending this apartment for a great place to stay in a beautiful city.

My wife and I spent 12 nights and were more than happy with the apartment. Hector and Ana both met us on our arrival, showed us around and got my wifes smart phone working with the Wifi. They later called us and wanted to know how things were going and if we needed anything. The apartment is comfortable, quiet and very well located. The people of Madrid are some of the most friendly I have encountered in over 20 trips to Europe. We plan to return. Charles Jones

I've stayed in many other vacation apartments, condos and timeshares and this place had everything and then some! Ana and Hector were so patient and pleasant; and Ana even let me practice my horrible Spanish with her. All I can say is: good people with a good heart and a fantastic apartment in a killer neighborhood.

Calle Huertas is a perfect place to stay in Madrid if you are interested in being in the Centro section of the city, close to the Prado Museum, the beautiful Retiro Park and quiet plazas, but close to transportation links, etc. Madrid is a busy, noisy place, but Huertas 12 is tucked away on a quiet street (Calle Huertas) with lots of great places to eat and other entertainment establishments (go to Alberto's, just a couple doors from the apartment, for tapas and dinner - you will be glad you did). And it's short walk to the Prado, where my wife and I spent a lot of time during our visit to Madrid. The owners, Ana and Hector, could not have been nicer. They sincerely want your stay in their apartment and in Madrid to be memorable. They were a font of information re places to go and and things to see. Nice folks indeed. The apartment is a perfect size for two adults to have plenty of space to roam. Only downside is it looks out into a very small courtyard, so there aren't any views to speak of, but the location of the apartment insulates you from any street noise, so it's a trade-off. Would I return to this apartment on a subsequent visit to Madrid? Absolutely.

It is difficult to imagine a better location than 12 Las Huertas. We enjoyed all of the activity in the area and even went to Cafe Central twice. The condo was very well equipped -- we had everything we needed. And we found the owners to be generous and helpful. Staying at this condo definitely added to our enjoyment of our time in Madrid. Thank you.

The apartement is exactly as described, was extremely comfortable, quiet and in a superb location. The facilities are excellent and the owners are very kind and could not be more helpful. The property is well maintained by the concierge and feels very secure. We highly recommend this apartement to anyone spending time in Madrid.

We stayed in this apartment in September 2011 and were extremely happy with a number of qualities...the general condition of the apartment...it was clean, well maintained and equipped. The location is fantastic in a very vibrant part of the city within easy walking distance of restaurants, museums etc. The owners were excellent to deal with and very helpful. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this apartment or to stay again.

We stayed here recently and had a wonderful time. The apartment is very close to a buzzy plaza, tapas bars, great gelato and the metro is pretty close too. The apartment is equiped with everything you could possible want. It's clean, quiet, modern, secure and safe and the shower is nice and hot.Comfortable for 2 -3 people. It's located in a great part of Madrid, very arty, boutiques, and lots to see just sit in the nearby plaza and people gaze.Try the gelato over the street wow. very nice.

My son and I stayed here for 3 days in April and we honestly can say the apartment was better than described. It was comfortable, well appointed, supplied, and spotless in and out. Hector and Ana, the owners, met us upon arrival and departure and could not have been more accommodating in every way. They have supplied the apartment with everything you could possibly need during your stay. One of our needs was uninterrupted internet service and that's what we got wirelessly without a hitch. We had dinner all three nights in restaurants within a five minute walk that were all amazing. I plan to return in the future with my wife, and without a doubt I would stay here again.

This apartment is comfortable, cozy, quiet, modern and well located! We were able to walk to museums, Retiro Park and lots of restaurants. The elevator was greatly appreciated after long days of sightseeing and walking, walking, walking. I will definitely check the availability of this apartment on my next trip to Madrid.

We stayed here for ten days in February and can't say enough good things about this apartment. It felt like a home away from home. Hector and Ana, the owners, are wonderful, and met us upon arrival. They explained how everything in the apartment worked, gave us great tips on places to go and on getting around, and even helped me get my laptop up and running. They have supplied the apartment with everything you could possibly need for a carefree holiday stay. I especially loved the huge shower and the large fluffy bath towels. As mentioned in previous reviews, the apartment is within walking distance of many of the major sights, shopping, grocery stores, and twenty-four hour pharmacy. If needed, there is a taxi stand around the corner and a metro stop a short distance away. I am already planning another trip to Madrid next year and will definitely stay in this great apartment!

I cannot say enough about how wonderful this apartment is. Anna & Hector, were great to deal with. They gave us detailed directions how to get to the apartment from the airport, showed us in detail the apartment and had numerous travel info regarding Madrid. The apartment itself is cute as a button is a very central location, near the Metro, restaurants, major tourist sites and the train station. I would definately stay there again. Thanks for a great trip.

My family and I stayed at Hector and Ana's apartment recently. What a find! The as previously stated, the apartment is close to everything in central Madrid (10-15 min walk to all the sights in town). Yet, Calle Huertas is a walk street with a cool neighborhoody vibe that makes you feel like a real Madrileno (Madrid local). There are a ton of lovely restaurants on the street or just around the corner in the Plaza de Santa Ana and the apartment felt like a home away from home. It's the perfect location if you want to feel like a local and immerse yourself in the beauty that is Madrid. Ana and Hector made our stay so wonderful and were incredibly helpful and gracious. They provided fruit, coffee, milk and juice for our stay and also made themselves available to us should we have any questions. Jesus at the front desk was also lovely and very helpful. The apartment itself was impeccable, beautifully decorated and modern. (They even had a blow dryer :) We loved our stay at the apartment and would highly recommend it to anyone. When I find myself back in Madrid, I will absolutely stay there again.

In September 2010, we spent a week at Ana and Hectors apartment on Huertas. The apartment was clean, comfortable, tastefully decorated and modernly equipped. It’s centrally located in a great neighborhood within easy walking distance of many of Madrid’s attractions as well as many shops, restaurants and tapas bars. What made this property exceptional was the kindness and helpfulness of Ana and Hector when we had a medical emergency that required hospitalization. Their assistance helped us get through a very difficult time. It’s a huge plus to have such kind and gracious people when renting an apartment in a foreign country.

just want to reiterate prior reviews that this is a great apt. It is super convenient to so many places (espcially the Prado which is a 15 minute walk). The immediate surroundings is interesting to walk around with many different small boutiques for browsing. Ana and Hector are so friendly and accommodating (I could check in early). The apartment itself has so many homey touches (basic food items are there so I didn't even have to buy coffee or milk) and very secure and quiet at night.

First time travelers to Madrid....we knew nothing about the neighborhoods. We must have looked at 50+ apartments (online) prior to booking Huertas 12. WE SCORED!! And you will too! We stayed for 6 nights. This apartment is located on Calle Huertas which is a very quiet street, pedestrian only right in front of the building which makes the location a very quiet one. We walked EVERYWHERE! This apartment is so centrally located! We were 15 minutes from everything! Of all of the plazas, Plaza Santa Ana turned out to be our favorite and it was just around the corner!! This apartment is well-maintained and fully equipped - you will not need anything except for your suitcase. You will find coffee makers (traditional & American), juicers, pots, pans. The kitchen came in handy for our morning breakfast. There is a decent market around the corner on Plaza de Matute. The owners are wonderful! They speak excellent English which made communicating very easy. They are extremely helpful and accommodating. If you are looking for a comfortable, convenient place to stay in Madrid - look no further! You will not be disappointed!

You could not ask for better hosts! We would love to come back and stay again in the future! THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL STAY! We HIGHLY recommend this VRBO!

We had a fabulous five day stay at Huertas 12. The apartment is modern, lovely and nicely furnished with everything you would want. It is very well located with good restaurants and cafes in nearby squares and walking for sight seeing is quite easy. The best part of staying here, however, is knowing Ana and Hector; they are wonderful, warm and will go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Thank you Ana & Hector.

This apartment was excellent in all ways. The location was wonderful as a base for exploring Madrid on foot - in the middle of a vibrant neighborhood and yet quiet at night for sleeping. The amenities were great, making us feel very much at home away from home. The personal welcome and support were much appreciated. We would love to stay in your apartment again!

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful week-long stay. The location is great, close walk to Sol, Plaza Mayor, the Prado, Atocha, and the metro. It is very secure with 3 keys required, and very quiet with a balcony facing a nice courtyard. The interior was nicely rehabbed (spacious kitchen, living area, bedroom, and bathroom) and there is a great doorman named Jesus who is helpful. The Anton Martin market is close-by, so we made a few meals at home. The owners are very pleasant, we would definitely stay there again.

I am finally travelling for pleasure after over 30 years as a flight Attendant and have stayed in many 4 and 5 star hotels throughout the world. We have just enjoyed a fabulous week in Madrid staying in Hector and Anna's Huertas apartment. My husband and I would give this apartment a 10 out of 10 for: location, quality, comfort and security. The concierge, Jesus, makes you feel very safe and secure and was extremely helpful. Hector and Anna were very gracious hosts. We would highly recommend this apartment. John and Jennifer McGuinness

This is a beautiful apartment - very comfortable and perfectly located. Madrid is a very walkable city and this apartment is centrally located for easy access to museums, Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Atocha train station, etc. My husband and I brought our 6-month old and it was quiet and well-equipped with everything we needed for our 5-night stay in Madrid. Ana and Hector are perfect hosts and willing to help with anything.

Nice place, off the street and quiet! Near to the center of town, and easy to get around from here. Hector and Ana were very helpful and easy to work with. Would stay there again. It is really a one room/studio, with a sleeper sofa, and worked very well for our needs.
Owner response:The bedromm and living areas can be visually separated by a blind, thus allowing for a more intimate environment.

This is a wonderful apartment; modern, clean, comfortable, and quiet. It is tastefully furnished with all amenities needed for feeling quite at home. The building is secure and during the day a concierge is in attendance. The location is perfect- -close to metro but more importantly, only a 10 minute walk from Plaza del Sol and El Corte Ingles for all shopping (including supermarket) as well as a 10 to 15 minute walk from all the incredible art museums. It is also one block from Pl. Santa Ana and Pl. del Angel with many clubs, tapa bars and restaurants. Ana and Hector are congenial and accommodating owners providing very thoughtful extra welcomes--milk, soda, juice, butter in refrigerator, a bowl of apples on the table, as well as coffee and tea. I would highly recommend this apartment for a lovely stay in Madrid.
