The Kuleana Resort is located between the West Maui mountains and the ocean on the gold coast of Maui. Unit 411 is a one-bedroom, second-floor oceanfront unit amidst lush gardens. It is newly remodeled with granite counter tops and travertine floors throughout. A private lanai affords views of the islands of Lanai, Molokai, and beautiful sunsets. During winter season you can whale-watch from your private lanai. Turtles abound and an on-site snorkeling ramp affords easy access to the water. We have a small beach that comes and goes, but Kapalua and Kaanapali beaches are nearby, as are many other picturesque beaches. There is also an on on-site access to an activities desk where you can book tours. You can do everything or you can do nothing. We were married on the grounds and return every year to celebrate our anniversary.
The condo complex boasts a tennis court and a large swimming pool, suitable for lap swimming. The Kuleana is well known for its grounds which are on seven acres with walkways surrounded by gorgeous plumeria and ironwood trees, all types of hibiscus, ginger and palms. These grounds are tended with pride and are among the best on the west side.
Shopping, dining and golf can all be found within a 5 mile radius. We are three miles north of the excitement of the Kaanapali hotel district which includes spas, golf, surfing, kayaking and shopping. We are five miles north of the historic charms of Lahaina where you can find restaurants for every taste, boats for sport fishing, movie theaters, art galleries, shows and plenty of shopping. We are about 5 miles south of the famous Kapalua golf course. Of course, you can always stay in and barbeque on the beach while enjoying the sunset. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you might need.
We remodeled in 2006 adding travertine floors and granite counter tops. In March of 2009, we purchased a new sofa and all new lanai furnature, and we added hi-speed internet (DSL) and wi-Fi. In February 2010 we added new wool Hawaiian rugs. We continue to keep this unit in the best and cleanest possible condition.

I can't say much else other than that this condo is perfect for a Maui vacation. It is beautifully renovated and so thoroughly stocked with all the essentials, you can just relax and enjoy your vacation. The pool is right behind the condo and the ocean directly in front. The description of the condo on the VRBO website is exactly what you can expect. Thank you Bob for another wonderful holiday, we appreciate you renting your condo!!

My boyfriend and I stayed at this condo for 6 nights in September 2011. It was simply amazing! The pictures do not do it justice! It has everything you need and then some. The snorkeling right outside of the complex is as good as some of the highlighted snorkel sites on the island. We saw more turtles here than anyplace else! Because this unit backs up to the pool (vs. parking lot) it is very quiet. The grounds are beautifully maintained. High-quality, highly recommended for two people, we hope to stay again!

That is how I feel about our stay. If you are looking for a perfect place to relax and enjoy the spirit of Aloha, look no more! The unit was exactly as described and then some. It was clean, quiet, and had all of the amenities we needed. This is our 4th summer in Maui and this is the best place ever!! Full size kitchen is great! Our daily plan is to always have breakfast and make our lunches before we start the day. We barbeque for dinner or maybe pick up something on our way home after our day snorkeling and/or diving. We loved sitting on the lanai to watch the sunset with our cocktails and dinner. It's also a perfect place just before sunrise with a couple of coffee and your journal! The pool and surrounding grounds were very lovely. The location is perfect. It is close enough to Lahaina if you just have to be a tourist for a bit, then we scurry back "home" to the waves and the view. We say when you stay in Honokawai, you feel like a local. If you stay at this condo, you will also feel like you are staying in a friend's home while they are away.

This condo was absolutely fantastic. I'm writing this review the night before we have to leave, and my only regret is that we have to get on a plane tomorrow. The furnishings are fantastic, the view is incredible, and the owners are top notch. I couldn't even tell you how many whales I've seen from our back porch, which is directly over the private beach. Despite all these great things, my favorite part was swimming with turtles just off the private beach. This place is wonderful and it has exceeded all of my expectations.

We were married at Kuleana in May, 2010 and my mother stayed in this condo. I thought it was once of the nicest we had seen( that was the 2nd time we had been there and had friends staying in quite a few of the other condos). We decided to book the condo when we went back in December 2010. We will only stay at the Kuleana because the location is perfect, whales breaching right infront of your lanai and watching the many turtles for hours on the reef right in front. I would make coffee and watch them feed from the lanai every morning. The farmer's market is only a 5-10 minute walk away as well and the best local organic food you will find. The condo is completely redone and we loved the shower, great for just walking into and cleaning off after a day at the beach located right in front. Robert is great to deal with and you will not be disappointed with the grounds, the condo and the location, everything you can ask for in a tropical vacation. Thank you so much for letting us stay there again The Jenkins

Just returned, sadly, to Illinois after 10 perfect days at Kuleana 411. This property is a whale watchers dream! From the outstanding view, to the well maintained grounds to the great location, this condo has it all! I would highly recommend this location to Maui experts and novices alike. Make sure to use the cooler provided to help save a little money on lunches and snacks while you are out and about. It saved us a lot of $$$. Parking is ample, the neighbors are very friendly, and the sunsets are the things of legend! Do not pass go, do not collect $200. Go directly to Kuleana 411.

This condo is absolutely amazing - don't even think twice about renting it. It's in the best block of units on the property, "sandwiched" between the ocean and the pool, so you don't need to worry about hearing street noise. It's also been completely (and tastefully) renovated making for a very comfortable stay. We were pleasantly surprised by the "little extras" the owners thought of - things like a reference binder filled with information on what to see and where to buy, beach chairs & towels & cooler to borrow, a fully stocked kitchen (right down to aluminum wrap and Tupperware). For us, this meant less time organizing ourselves and more time enjoying the island. The view from the lanai? Let's just say incredible, day or night, with unobstructed views of the ocean and the islands of Lana'i and Moloka'i. In terms of the property itself, we found it to be one of the nicest around, and we really did our homework before renting. Lush, manicured gardens, large pool, very serene atmosphere (i.e., architecture blends in wonderfully with the surroundings). We wanted a "home away from home" and that's exactly what we got... no big, unsightly condo towers here! We were lucky as the small beach (right in front of the condo, too) was there (it comes and goes), which we enjoyed much more than we thought we would. Early morning swims (before heading out for the day) and/or late night swims (before going to bed) were part of our daily routine. Add to all of this the fact the owners are wonderful to deal with and you have a winning combination. My only regret? Not staying more than 10 days. (Actually my other regret is that Champlain did not discover Canada somewhere in the Hawaiian islands... Mau'i is stunning!)

Keleana #411 was a great place to stay . Bonnie and I enjoyed the Views , Breezes, and Whale watching from the Balcony. It was cosy and easy to keep up, so we had more time to enjoy the island. A perfect place for a couple to enjoy. I'm hoping to return soon ..

My husband and I absolutely enjoyed every day at Kuleana #411. We visited during March 2009 and could have spent countless hours watching whales from our balcony. The best feature of #411 is the view and closeness to the ocean. The ocean waves were perfect for the surfers who entertained us every evening as we sat on the balcony and ate dinner as the sun would set. The rainbows were breath taking and the grounds of the condo complex are perfect. The unit itself came with everything from wine glasses, sunscreen, beach towels and even a pair of binoculars. We could not have asked for a nicer spot in paradise and plan to return!

We stayed at Kuleana 411 for a week in September 2008. We were familiar with the property grounds because we had stayed in another Kuleana unit before, but never in 411. We love Kuleana's location on the island of Maui due to its proximity to lots of the activities we like (snorkeling, body surfing, Lahaina & Kaanapali, rugged north coast, etc.), yet it is quiet and peaceful. Plus the sunsets were terrific every night. Unit 411 has been modernized delightfully, and is thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed, including a small ice chest that we used on every outing. I will definitely go back. We loved the location of this unit on the property, and the property was very well maintained and beautiful. Unit 411 is one of the best units in the complex as it is on the top floor overlooking the beach and immediately next to the private pool. We would drink Kona coffee watching turtles in the morning, and take up a lounge chair by the pool during the heat of the day, and swim/snorkel in the ocean in the afternoon. It was great having the blender and refrigerator only steps from these water attractions; made everything very simple. Every other night we met great people cooking at the well maintained gas grills, which are thoroughly cleaned every morning. There's nothing like grilling fish and steak while watching the sun go down after a wonderful day exploring the island or just reading a book. I find it far better than hotel lodging. I felt completely at home, but I wasn't...I was in paradise.
