You can "have it all" in this vacation getaway with water and nature activities in your back yard plus numerous tourist attractions nearby. This delightful 2,200 square foot house is furnished with all the equipment you need to enjoy water sports such as tubing, kayaking, boating, fishing, or just watching the river flow by from your private dock or the expansive deck, part of which is covered and includes outdoor lighting and ceiling fan.

There is an 11' X 30' sunroom overlooking the river with eating and sitting area, a 20' X 25' living room with river view, and a 13'6" X 19'6" master bedroom with queen bed and large areas of glass on two walls boasting spectacular views of the river and mountain on the opposite shore. There are two additional bedrooms on the first floor, one with queen bed and one with double bed.

The finished attic boasts a large bedroom with queen bed, skylight, and spacious sitting area. A small bedroom with double bed, skylight, and exposed chimney is accessible off the larger room. The attic rooms have a sloping ceiling following the roofline. Every room in the house has a river view.

To add to your enjoyment of this waterfront property, the use of four kayaks, 3 single and 1 double, several inner tubes, life jackets and fishing gear are included with your rental. In addition, a 16' doublewide jonboat with motor is available for an extra charge. You can relax as you float down the wide Susquehanna or motor or paddle over to the islands across from the house to explore.

As an added bonus, pick your own blueberries on the property in season.

The bird watching is spectacular. For the last three years a bald eagle's nest on the island directly across from the house has boasted eaglets. Our guests have photographed bald eagles resting on trees in our back yard. In addition, egrets and great blue herons summer here, and many other species abound. We are directly on the Atlantic flyway.

Hikers and bikers - an 18 mile rails to trails wilderness hiking and biking path is just minutes away up Stony Creek in the largest roadless tract of land in Pennsylvania. The Appalachian Trail is only ten minutes away.

This one acre property with 212' water frontage and private dock is located just off Rt. 322/22 and is very accessible to central Pennsylvania tourist attractions. Hershey Park is within a half hour ride and Lancaster County's Dutch Country and Gettysburg are under an hour. Harrisburg's Civil War Museum and summer outdoor symphony concerts, including the river barge concert and holiday fireworks are only minutes away. Children will love going on safari at nearby Lake Tobias Wildlife Park.

For the hunter and fisherman, large state game lands and wilderness areas are nearby. Turkey and deer hunting are excellent and pheasants are stocked within a few miles of the house. Fishing in the Susquehanna includes small mouth bass, walleye, catfish and musky. Clark's Creek, just 100 yards away from the house, provides trout fishing as good as it gets.

If you are interested in the fall foliage, you will find our home the perfect fall vacation spot. You can drive through the beautiful mountains and countryside of central Pennsylvania, or just prop your feet up on the deck and gaze at the splendid colors of the mountains directly across the Susquehanna River behind the house.

The Pennsylvania Farm Show Arena is six miles away, an easy drive down Rt. 322.

This is the perfect spot for an extended family gathering - there's something for everyone!

    • Awesome! My children and I had the privelege to be among the first guests with Janice and David. Their home was wonderful. With 8 children in tow it was just what we needed. We visited for business but found tons of pleasure. It is located with quick and easy access to the Farm Show Complex as well as other areas of interest. We have so many fond and special memories and are so pleased we had the opportunity to be able to stay there. We hope to be able to go back when we can get back to the area again. I highly recommend this home to anyone....though it feels more like my own personnal home away from home because of our wonderful hosts. Teresa Knight and Family

    • What a wonderful five days we spent in your exceptional home by the river. We came fully equipped with hiking gear and maps to accomplish a lot of hiking in the Harrisburg area. Once we arrived and spent some time in the beautiful sun room enjoying the views we decided we didn’t want to leave. The hiking gear stayed in the car and we enjoyed five days of chilling out and enjoying the home and the river. We were even lucky enough to get some pictures of 2 or 3 bald eagles roosting in trees on your lot!

    • We spent a wonderful weekend at this great house! There were 10 of us, and we all had our own small space and beds. We cooked all our meals in the house . . . the kitchen is roomy and the table big enough to seat a big group. The river views were beautiful, and all enjoyed the kayaks. We meet our first grandson here so it will always be a special place for us! We hope to return another time!

    • What a beautiful setting for our daughter's wedding photos. The house is incredible and the view is fabulous! Janice and David did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. The house was perfect for the 6 of us. Complete with everything you could need on a vacation. Lots to do and lots of scenery if you just want to relax. We loved it and would highly recommend it to anyone!

    • Lovely comfortable house and setting and very helpful and friendly hosts. Gorgeous views of the Susquehanna River from the sunroom, deck and master bedroom and easy access to the river at back of house. Lots of comfortable, cozy seating. Plenty to do - great having boats right at the house, games and even binoculars for birdwatching. Some nice details like candles, terry cloth robes and portable stereo with collection of cd's in the master bedroom and even a fire ring for evening campfires. Close to Gettysburg, Harrisburg and Lancaster if want activity too.

    • The property and house was great and the owners so helpful. The place was a big hit with the kids and also with Grandma. It had a very cozy, not rental house feel to it. I highly recommend them.

    • My family from NY and my family from NC spent a week in Aug. There were 12 of us and we all had a great time. The house was in the perfected location secluded, but was close enough to stores and amusement parks.

    • What a great house for a family of nine, covering three generations, to spend a week together. The layout made it so easy to be together but still have your own space. We loved sitting and reading in the sunroom and watching the river from the deck. The location made it easy for us to visit Gettysburg, Hershey, Strasburg, Lititz and the Amish countryside but everyone was glad to get back to 'our river home' at the end of the day. We looked forward to playing on the river in the kayaks and building fires to roast hot dogs and fix s'mores. Thank you Janice and Dave for the special things like tomatoes from the garden, fresh picked blueberries and especially for the ingredients for s'mores. Thje Abury and Helfrich families July 08
