We are winding down from our almost 2 week stay here. This is like a real home, the beds are super comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked (every kitchen needs a garlic press, though), the furniture is not just pretty, it's quality and comfortable. The pictures are accurate. We have been prudent with the air conditioning, but haven't needed it much. Nothing is better than fresh Hawaiian breezes. The Fairways is a beautiful cozy kind of place. The pool is close and lovely. The grounds are blooming. My only wish is that all the TV's had HD and the same channels. My husband watches games and I like HGTV and that wasn't on the upstairs TVs

Beautifully docorated condo, clean, well maintained ... 2 minutes to pool and relaxing hot tub, less than 20 minutes to Puako and Hapuna Beaches (two of the best beaches on the Big Island) ... condo located on dry side of the island, so no rain during our stay here, cool trade winds in the evening allowed us to sleep with the windows open ... recommend day excusion to Hawi and Pololu Beach, overnight excursion to Volcanoes Nat'l Park (stay in Volcano, use Saddle Rd and visit Mauna Kea on the way), on the return trip stop at Punalu'u Black Sand Beach for snokeling with turtles and obilatory tourist spots at South Point, Pu'uhonua (Two Steps), Kealakekua Bay, and Kona ... owners very helpful answering all questions/concerns, hooked us up to terrific guide book and the best tours ... stayed 8 days, it wasn't enough time ... we're coming back ... would recommend this condo to our family and friends

We spent two weeks in Mike and Cathy's home in Mauna Lani and had a great time. The condo was very well appointed, spacious and felt at home right away. We arrived quite late on a Sunday and had no problem finding it as well as feeling right at home being able to get our 4 and 6yo boys to bed after a long travel day. The master bedroom is very large with a huge bathroom. The second bedroom is also large and very bright and airy. Fantastic kitchen with everything you could ever need. We only ate out a few times when we were away for the day so it was nice to feel right at home and use all the amenities. The inside dining room didn't get any use from us as we ate all our meals outside on the lanai...which is fantastic with the built in BBQ and sink. The location of the condo in the complex is also top notch. It is literally a 20 second walk to the pool without being besieged by pool noise. Our boys kept asking for more "pool days" and they just couldn't get enough of it. Fantastic beaches are nearby with our favorite being 69 beach just south of Hapuna Beach. Saw two turtles there on different days. All in all a great time and we hope to return again soon.

After some difficulties finding a place to rent, I found this location and contacted Mike. From the first phone call I knew this was the place. By far the most professional and easiest booking experience I've had. Enough of the booking, on to the vacation. We arrived found the unit to be in fantastic condition. The two bedrooms upstairs were huge and every thing was super clean. The pull out couch in the master was perfect for our toddler. Right out the back slider was the pool and hot tub, which were great. Kitchen - New appliances, well stocked with the essentials and even when the coffee pot broke, they had a backup in the unit, so we were set. Living room and dining room ample room, didn't spend much time here and rarely turned on the TV, but it was good. Upstairs, back bedroom with it's own bathroom was great for our family friend who came. Master was huge, bathroom with separate tub and shower were great. Big + was the washer and dryer on site, saved a ton of packing for us. Location - Was perfect for us, plenty of nearby beaches to check out, easy drive to Waimea or Kona.

Our second visit to this lovely home was even better than last year. The home is so comfortable. Nothing has been overlooked. Owners have created an ambiance that allowed us to relax and recharge. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the bedroom lanai overlooking beautiful landscape-snorkeling at the beach club-swimming in the pool-and we managed a few new side trips. We look forward to a return visit to this villa.

We have rented over a dozen houses/condos over the last few summers and our stay at the Fairways at Mauna Lani easily ranks among the best. Even before we arrived we felt the "aloha spirit". Mike and Cathy were always responsive and pleasant to converse with. Hale Hula Villa itself is gorgeous; the perfect base for Big Island adventures. It is instantly apparent that you are staying in a home and not "just" a rental property. Foodland (2 minute drive), the well appointed kitchen and gas grill make eating in convenient. When you are ready to dine out there are good choices right in the villa and great choices less than 30 minutes up the mountain in Waimea. There are half a dozen world class beaches for swimming and snorkeling within 15 miles of the villa. And when you are ready for more adventure, zip lines, helicopter rides, hiking and more are all short drives away. Mahalo Mike and Cathy; we will definitely be back!

Aloha Mike and Cathy Words cannot describe how we enjoyed our stay at your lovely condo. From the first step in the condo till the last made our stay on Big Island perfect. The condo's decor was exceptional, luxurious and classy. The Fairways complex is well maintained, secure and our children loved the swimming pool. The private beach club was one of the best places to snorkel in our three weeks in Hawaii and we snorkelled nearly every day. The condo's location to all of the amenities, beaches and sightseeing was perfect. When we return to Big Island we will surely give Mike and Cathy a call. Mauna Lani is an excellent location to enjoy the Kona coast and this villa was beautiful, pristine and comfortable. The photos really don't do it justice. The owners, Mike and Cathy were a pleasure to work with and provided just about every amenity you can imagine. It was great to travel light, knowing there was a washer and dryer available, especially after beach trips. The kitchen was well equipped for any type of cooking. The private beach is gorgeous with great snorkeling and activities such as kayaking and paddle boarding. We also went to the Luau at the Fairmont, 5 min away and were regular customers at the Farmlands market. We hope to return someday, this was such a relaxing vacation. Highly recommended!

In no time at all, this property felt like our home away from home. Beautifully appointed, clean, well maintained, and located right next to the pool and fitness centre, it was everything Mike and Cathy said it was. The grocery store located at The Shops had everything we needed and was very reasonable, especially with the discount scan tag provided on the condo keys. (If more significant shopping is needed, there's a Costco in Kona.) We loved watching the sunsets from the Tommy Bahamas restaurant, and the convenience of the board shop for beach rentals, as well as the galleries and Hawaiian entertainment around the fountain in the evening. The Beach Club was perfect for snorkeling, long-boarding, lunch, and just being lazy with a good book. And it was wonderful to be able to stay in touch while we were in paradise with the unlimited free phone calls to our family back home. We'd recommend lots of activities in the area: Umauma Falls zip-lining (1.5 hrs away on the Hilo side of the island, and 9 lines!), taking the Scenic Route through the rainforest on the way to Hilo, golf at any of the nearby courses (one of our frugal favorites was Waikoloa Village where the locals play), the Coffee Shack overlooking Captain Cook for breakfast or lunch, the outstanding snorkeling at Honaunau Place of Refuge (20 miles south of Kailua-Kona), boogie boarding right in Kona at White Sands, the many markets for fresh fruit, vegetables, and souvenirs, and of course, the cold beer at any of the outdoor bars and restaurants in Kailua-Kona. Mike and Cathy made it really easy to rent their condo, provided contact numbers (if we needed to reach them for any reason, which we didn't), and returned our security deposit within days of leaving. Would we come back? Absolutely. Thanks for being such great hosts!

This property was very clean, beautiful and relaxing. There is no need to take a snorkeling excursion, we snorkeled in several locations on the island, but the best was right off the Mauni Lani Beach Club. Sea turtles, conche, and many types of fish in crystal clear water. No worries with this one.

From the first time I saw the listing for Hale Hula Villa, I felt like this would be a great place to stay. All conversations with owners Mike and Cathy were really positive and they are so willing to help. Mike went above and beyond to give us travel tips and information to make our trip to the Big Island awesome. The condo is beautifully apppointed, very comfortable and has that very cool "Island" feel. Located close to anything you could possibly want or need, it's a A plus from this happy traveler and his family.

This was our fourth trip to the Big Island and “Hale Hula Villa” is by far the best place we’ve stayed! It’s tastefully decorated, impeccably clean, private and quiet, has comfortable beds and furniture, a well-appointed kitchen, and beautiful grounds. GREAT value for the money. The experiences we had while we were there were memorable, too: walking to the beach at the Orchid each morning, snorkeling at the Mauna Lani beach club, lunch at Merriman’s in Waimea, exploring Hawi, munching samples at Kawaihae’s macadamia nut factory, and hiking along the cliffs near Polulu Lookout. Next time we come back we will stay here for sure!

The Cusacks have created the ideal environment for relaxation. Previous visitors have accurately described the layout of the "home away from home". We enjoyed coffee on the lanai off the master suite every morning and marveled at the beautiful landscaping which added so much to the ambience. The Beach Club was beautiful and snorkeling great! We were fortunate to have son and daughter-in-law with us a few days. The island has much to see within easy driving distance. We hope to return to this condo. Photos do not do it justice. It is much better in person!

This was our fourth visit to the Big Island and our second to the Fairways. This Villa is so well equipped and its location is fantastic - especially if you have a young family - just yards from the gorgeous pool complex. Everything in the Villa is of high quality, especially the beds - which were the comfiest ever. Also the upstairs Lanai has lovely comfy chairs and footstools - perfect to sit on for early morning Kona coffee and sunrise! Also the downstairs lanai has a great large table and plenty of comfortable chairs to sit at by the BBQ. The beach towels provided and in fact all the linen throughout was superb. Huge TV in the lounge and TVs in both bedrooms too. Plenty of info about the island is to hand in the house and I must point out that although we have visited several times before, the owners went to a great deal of trouble to answer any questions and provide us with as much info as possible. They really were incredibly helpful and informative - and reassured us tremendously - especially as we were travelling from the UK. Everything they organised was perfect and they were extrememly professional to deal with when making the booking. Overall this Villa was exceptional and next time we return for the Ironman competition we'll be booking it for definite! We had the best time ever! The Mauna Lani Beach Club is superb too, for safe swimming and great lunches, and having two fantastic hotels with great restaurants just minutes away is a real bonus. Absolute paradise. Highly recommended.

First off I want to thank you for letting us stay at your condo. We had a great time that, while I have been back now for well over a week, I'm truthfully just starting to get back into the swing of my 'normal' routine. Perhaps just a carry over of all the fun that we had while on the island. Here are some of the highlights: Mauna Lani Beach Club - I'm not sure if this is emphasized enough on the site. That is a very nice beach and you were right -- excellent snorkeling Manta Dive - it was really neat. Down at 35' with 16' mantas basking in the illuminated and therefore plankton filled waters around us. We bought the video. Good times. The drive from the condo to Pololu Valley and then to Akaka falls and Hilo via Waiamea We actually hiked out to the Lava entering the ocean and Les got some good pictures Hilo Farmer's market Snorkeling We will treasure the memories we had on the Big Island forever.

We just completed our third stay in four years at your beautiful condo. It is such a relaxing atmosphere with the outdoor barbeque and the gorgeous pool. We especially loved being able to walk to the Orchid for cocktails and sunset viewing. It is the perfect base for exploring all the features the big island has to offer. We hope to return!

We recently spent 3 weeks in your villa, and were impressed with the cleanliness and how well-appointed it was. You can certainly tell that you have a lot of expertise in interior decorating--we appreciated all of the extras, including the 500 count bed linens. We especially found helpful the information that Cathy gave us about the island, and places to visit. We would like to recommend Huli Su's in Waimea for a great lunch. The Foodland Market in the Mauna Lani shopping center was a great place to find excellent meat and seafood at reasonable prices. We hope to stay again in the future.

We spent a lovely, relaxing week in this beautifully decorated condo - just the right style and comfort for Hawaii. The owners obviously have made a tremendous effort to get things right! This home is extremely well stocked with all amenities. We already were familiar with the Mauna Lani resort. This was a good location - a reasonable walk to The Orchid or the Mauna Lani Shops - and a short drive to the beach club, where we snorkeled every morning. We definitely would stay here again!

I have been to Hawaii many times and this is now my favorite place to stay! All the comforts of home and alot more. The location is ideal and and the grounds very beautiful. Mauna Lani has everything you need and want, no need to go anywhere else. We would like to return soon.

Our family had a wonderful time staying in your lovely home. All the comforts and conveniences of our home and the fun, relaxation, and recreation of yours! We arrived home and are already missing Hawaii and your wonderful home! It was everything you described and more. The kitchen was so well stocked and we made our selves at home cooking and enjoying both lanais and the grounds. We had the pool to ourselves many times!SKM was great. We could not find the switch for the master bathroomlights....turned out we had the swinging door open toward the bathroom and it's behind it. They called back very quickly and helped us find it! We had an incredible time up at Volcano National Park and went to the night viewing of the lava flow into the ocean....what a show! We found the Food Farm market at the Mauna Lani shops to be great and handyand their marinated flank steak was great! We also had some fresh fish from there. We found our old favorite fish market up in Kawaihae calledHale I'A (Fish House) and the owner, Kanoe I'i was wonderful. It's paintedbright yellow and green and is across from the Kawaihai Harbor and theshopping center where the back side of Café Pesto is. Thanks again for sharing your lovely home in paradise. We hope to get backin the future (hopefully, not too distant!).

Very comfortable condo - Quite Hi-Tech as everything "beeps". We have had a blast! If you are a diver - the night dive with the Mantas is a must. We will never forget it. We enjoyed the green of Waimea and Hilo. Felt like home in Paradise.

Aloha and Mahalo! We absolutely loved your place. It is now our new favorite condo to stay in on the Big Island. The Hula Hale is both beautiful and comfortable. We appreciate all of the attention paid to the details both in the condo and ideas of things to see and do on the island. This is definitely one of the very best resort areas on the entire island. It was especially nice to be able to walk to shopping and restaurants. The unit is gorgeous, but also extremely comfortable. We have enjoyed two relaxing vacations here and plan to return.

1/9/08 - 3/6/08 This home, as others have noted, is really comfortable, lovely, and a wonderful respite from the cold, biting winds of the western, Wyoming winter. The two months that we stayed here gave us the much needed warmth our bodies craved. Thanks for making your home here available to us.

Your home is lovely and very comfortable. We had an amazing 10 days & look forward to coming back. Seeing the Southern Cross from your balcony was truly a highlight.
