Located on 15 private acres of Ponderosa Pines, our completely renovated bungalow sits on the previous Gary Cooper Ranch above the fabulous “Blue Ribbon” fly-fishing section of the Missouri River near Craig, Montana. Incredible fishing is just minutes away in any direction. Mid Canon boat launch is 2 miles from the house, Craig launch is 7 miles, and Wolf Creek Bridge launch is 14 miles. Float or self-wade any of these famous sections of the river. Montana's top-notch bird and big game hunting areas are close to the property. Our home is perfect for 2-3 fishermen or 1-2 couples.
With sweeping views of Eagle Rock and the Missouri River, you can relax after an adventurous day in the gazebo or on patio furniture overlooking the river. Watch deer graze on the lawn in the morning and evenings. There’s no denying that this stretch of the river has the best fly fishing in the West, but one can order up Montana’s best canoeing, kayaking, hiking, wildlife observing, big game and bird hunting, exploring the Lewis and Clark Trail, dinosaur digging, antiquing, boating on Holter Reservoir, or visiting our renowned Charlie Russell Art Gallery in Great Falls. And . . . we’re only a little over 2 hours away from Glacier National Park!
Our charming air-conditioned home was recently refurbished with new paint, carpet, appliances, furnishings, and bedding/linens. The 1100 sq foot living space has two bedrooms (one queen bed and one full size bed) and one bathroom with a tub and shower. The living room has a Lazy Boy queen sleeper sofa with a luxurious pillow top blow-up mattress. The rooms are well appointed with a hunting/fishing country theme.
The full kitchen is well equipped with all appliances, dishes, and pots and pans. Included are a washer/dryer, gas BBQ, and plenty of parking for vehicles and boats. There’s a new Vizio 42” television with Dish TV, DVD player, and stereo system along with a gas stove in the living area for cold evenings. Long distance calls can be made at 25 cents/minute.
The town of Craig is located 7 miles upstream and boasts three fly fishing shops. The Trout Shop offers fantastic breakfasts, Starbuck’s coffee, and an extensive wine selection. At Izaak’s Restaurant you can grab a causal lunch or a gourmet dinner that rivals the big city. Twelve miles downstream is the town of Cascade which has a grocery store, gas station, and post office.
We love animals and will consider allowing a dog with a deposit. Our hunting dog sleeps in the totally enclosed patio. Please, NO SMOKING inside our home.

I'm Vance, an artist-craftsman, and my wife, Valerie, is a school teacher from Sun Valley, Idaho. We both love the out-doors and are avid fly fishermen!
Why the Owner Chose Craig
Fifteen summers ago we took a fly fishing tour of Montana. A friend told us not to miss the Missouri River near Craig. After 7 glorious days of fishing the Big Mo, there was no turning back. Every summer since, we have spent many lazy days floating and wade fishing Lewis and Clark's favorite stretch. My wife and I put on the river at 7am and fish past dark catching the largest Rainbows and Browns you could ever imagine! It wasn't just the fishing that captured our hearts - the scenery in the Missouri River Scenic Corridor is absolutely breathtaking. The first time that the real estate agent showed us our property, we were spellbound. It looked as if we were walking on the grounds of a National Park. A great day of fishing on the river, a summer BBQ outside watching a pink and orange sunset, the buzz of a Trico cyclone moving up river, the white pelicans floating by the house, or the occasional deer walking through the yard to munch on the lush flora are all memories that we relish when the snow flies and summer is long gone.

Hey Valerie and Vance-- We had a great time staying at your wonderful place. It is like a little piece of Nirvana, upon you really can't improve. It has the best view I've ever seen of the Upper Mo. You guys are really fortunate. The boys were no slouches when it came to fishing either--both caught a fine array of browns & rainbows on the river. I'm still basking in the glow of Montana. I'd like to hop on a plane and head back. We will definitely be in touch next spring about another rental in 2010, hopefully for 10 days next time. Then I can do more painting (as well as the fishing). Thanks for your hospitality and I know that Don thanks you heartily as well. Vance and Don fished the river the morning of the day we left. It was our best fishing trip ever. Give me a holler if you plan to be in New York City.

Valerie- We both wanted you to know how much we enjoyed staying in your vacation home. We both appreciate the effort you have gone to make it very easy and luxurious to stay there. We had no problems with anything, and hope we left it in as good shape as when we got there.
