Situated on a private, 13 acre estate, this is a place of unspoiled, natural beauty far from your busy life and civilization. The house is perched on a ridge atop the property, commanding spectacular views of the surroundings. Half of the house (built from Brazilian teak) consists of an open deck from which you can contemplate the scenery. You will be tempted to simply lie in a hammock and watch the tides change, the sun set, and the clouds float between the mountains.
The house provides a stunning 270 degree view of the surroundings, including Panama's highest mountain - the majestic Volcan Baru to the North, and many beautiful little islands to the South. Because the house is situated on top of the hill, there is usually a nice breeze, and you can watch various birds flying and hovering right at your eye level and below. There are hawks, buzzards, hummingbirds, and many other species.
The main house is comprised of an eat-in kitchen with a separate pantry/laundry room, living room with a desk area (with a high-speed internet connection), and a powder room. It is surrounded by a large deck with teak furniture and hammocks, which allows you to spend most of the time outdoors. The two bedrooms are in a separate building, connected to the main house with a covered walkway. Each has a king size bed overlooking a glass sliding door to the deck, with a full view of the ocean. Each bedroom has a large bathroom / walk in closet.
A walk down a winding path through a grove, where you can spot Capuchin and Howler monkeys, takes you down to a private sandy beach. Because of the surrounding islands, the water is calm and warm -- ideal for swimming and snorkeling. You can relax in a hammock under the newly built "ranchito", or enjoy the swim and the views. At night, the sky is lit up with thousands of stars usually invisible to city dwellers.
A number of boutique resorts and beautiful islands with pristine beaches are within a short boat ride or drive. You can also hire a boat for either deep sea or local fishing, which is abundant, or for snorkeling (several sets of new snorkeling gear are in the house).
You can treat this place as a base for exploring the nearby islands, and enjoying outdoor activities, or simply as a "get away from it all" private piece of tropical paradise. As one of our friends commented just before leaving: "I can't remember if I have any meetings tomorrow". You won't either. |
