Pipes Canyon Lodge was once referred to as 'The Ponderosa' by locals or 'The Big House' Why? Maybe it was the 12 foot high vaulted, beamed ceilings, or maybe it was the massive stone fireplace in the living room. It is rumored that Pappy himself left his mark on this grand old house. Hmm. A lot has changed since those days. The house can still seat all of its' occupants at a sweeping dining room table with elbow room to spare, but now the meals are cooked in a chef's dream of a kitchen fully equipped with every tool you will need and the spices to make all of your signature dishes. Thermador five burner cooktop, KitchenAid double ovens, dishwasher, refrigerator. Stocked pantry with bar refrigerator. Plenty of room for a handful of chefs to cook an impressive holiday dinner while others make those tangy Mojitos for sunset on the 60 foot veranda. Pipes Canyon Lodge is cozy and intimate enough to be enjoyed by a handful but spacious enough for everyone to sit around the roaring fire and tell ghost stories. There are lots of private venues indoors and out, for pouring over a good book or that script or...
Two more fireplaces and a central heating system ensure that you will be toasty during your stay. One in the dining room that adds to the ambiance of dinners that stretch into the wee hours, and one in the Jacuzzi room adding to the steam you create. The Jacuzzi is centered in it's own 500 foot square room. The spa room doubles as a dorm room and looks out at majestic Black Lava Butte, just 250 feet away. The Butte was recently named ' Ayte'ivyat' by Ernest Silva a respected elder of the Morongo Band of Mission Indians. The Serrano Indians lived on this butte and Chiefs and Shamans reportedly performed ceremonial rituals and dances on the peak. It is sacred ground. When see it, you will dance too. Climb it before breakfast and contemplate all that is good in your life.
With forty mile unobstructed views all around, sunsets are not to be missed. Whether from our 60 foot covered veranda or under our shaded pergola. What the heck, try both. Our beautiful boulder monument is there to climb or just ponder. If staying close to home is your scene, just count boulders in the front and backyard.
We are now equipped for retreats. We can accommodate up to fourteen participants comfortably in the house, and we have a separate instructor/s quarters. New this season? Our completely tricked out 1953 Spartan Royal Mansion Trailer. 300 square feet of luxury - 1950's style! Full kitchen! Sleeps two/three or four if you're 'close'! Our beautiful 20 x 20 pergola perfect for medicine circles or yoga mats or dining alfresco! Come on, you deserve it! And of course, the Lodge! 2500 square feet of bliss. Incomparable stargazing. Sunset cocktails on your own boulder monument. It's pure heaven. What are you waiting for? If that's not enough, how about the 'wild' backyard directly adjacent to 60,000 acres of wilderness. Oh, and those gorgeous bobcats. Perched on top of Pipes Canyon with views of San Jacinto, Sleeping Indian (Sawtoothe) and Big Bear.
Pappy & Harriets just down the road!!!!
What we cannot describe? The ineffable power and presence of the unseen, the whisper on the wind of a time that was, and the limitless imagination that you bring to this ancient landscape. This is a place where the loudest thing you will hear is your inner voice or the howl of a coyote. Come on up and get reacquainted.
Utterly unique Pipes Canyon Lodge at the cultural crossroads between the old and the new west. From experimental architects to cow-punk rock and roll, the Pioneertown-Pipes Canyon area has it all. Whether you drive the 20 minutes to magnificent Joshua Tree National Park or simply step out our backdoor and hike the 60,000 aces of undeveloped Mojave wilderness immediately adjacent, with awe inspiring rock formations, stunning mesas and complete quiet, you will be changed. More stars than you can possibly imagine so close you can reach out and touch them.
The lodge is perfect for a romantic getaway, family vacation, your own big chill weekend with friends, unforgetable wedding or peaceful retreat. Located just 8 minutes from famous Pappy & Harriet's Pioneertown Palace, great music and good food are easily accessible.
And keep in mind, we are always 15 degrees cooler than Palm Springs and 10 degrees cooler than Joshua Tree Park, making this destination perfect year round. Additional accommodations available close by for larger groups. Enjoy delicious gourmet meals from Pipes Canyon Productions - with or without service. Excellent location for photo or film shoots. Pipes Canyon Lodge proved an outstanding destination for a weekend away with friends. The beautiful home and gracious owners make this an ideal rental. As described, the kitchen and living areas are well-designed; the surrounding hills and countryside provide fun hiking and exploring. The location is perfect: a bit removed from the hustle of the local towns, yet convenient, easy access to Joshua Tree. The home is extremely comfortable with numerous indoor and outdoor spaces for relaxing with friends. The owner and neighbor offered valuable advice on directions and activities. We are eager to return to this amazing home and HIGHLY recommend this property! Thank you!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

We have had the pleasure to visit Pipe's Canyon Lodge on a couple of occasions; once for an intimate getaway and once for a busy and happy family reunion. The accommodations were perfect for both! Whether you are seeking a beautiful place to relax, write, commune with nature and enjoy the best in life with the one you love, or need a terrific location for PARTY CENTRAL, the owners went more than the extra mile to make sure that we were comfortable, happy, and fully satisfied with our stay. The list of great amenities are too long to name. The environment, inside the lodge and outside on the grounds, is utterly lovely. We highly recommend Pipes Canyon Lodge for a retreat you will never forget. Only wish we could have stayed longer! FOR A GOOD TIME.......CALL PIPES CANYON LODGE!!!! What a fabulous venue to capture good quality time in an atmosphere as unique as the property itself. Incredible sunsets, enjoyed nightly on the veranda (personal highlight) followed by a nightly fire in the living room (the experience far exceeds the pictures becaue they can't captue the warmth and feel)The adjoining land was great for numerous walks in place that is most unique and spiritual. We also ventured to several noted hikings areas, the best was Joshua Tree Nat'l Park. Very clean and people friendly....I wish it were Mine!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My wife and I spent a magical weekend at Pipes Canyon Lodge, hiking among the giant boulders, the wildflowers and petroglyphs; attending an awesome Memorial Day parade in downtown Pioneertown, and then hitting the local antique stores. The lodge itself has got to be located on some kind of energy vortex, because it has such a great feeling. We loved just hanging out there, sipping cocktails on the front porch, watching the jackrabbits and quail, reading by the fire, and generally recharging our batteries... One day we wanted a change of scene, so we travelled 20 minutes or so to the Big Morongo Canyon Preserve, which is this incredible oasis in the desert. Our visit to Pappy and Harriet's was a hoot. And next trip we are definitely going bowling at the very picturesque Pioneertown Bowl!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

I never thought I'd love the desert until I staid at the Pipes Canyon Lodge. The high desert is full of beauty and calm and my experience here has made it a favorite destination. This property is beautiful and hiking is right out the back door, where you can wander through the landscape looking for petroglyphs. Local color is close by in Yucca Valley (go to Pappy and Harriet's or shop the antique stores). Joshua Tree is also very nearby, and that is legendary. The home itself is laid out beautifully so that if you're with a group, everyone can gather together or split off for a soak in the tub, reading on the porch (spectacular views all day long), or reading by the fire. Of course, if you are here with your sweetheart, you will be undisturbed and able to enjoy one another fully. Kitchen is spectacular, so it's great if you like to cook. The owners are very helpful and responsive and will make sure you have what you need to enjoy the stay. Property is excellently maintained. I recommend this property to anyone looking for a little magic off the beaten path.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Whoever said going to the desert in the summer was a bad idea, is nuts!!! What a fabulous place! We have spent many an hour in Pioneertown, but this house takes the cake. Wonderful layout, quiet, open and magical. Thanks to Pamela and Stephen and Anitra for their wonderful hospitality. It was truly a heavenly experience..... from the silence to the four (and two) legged visitors, we enjoyed every second. Thanks again! We have had the great good fortune to stay at Pipes Canyon Lodge three times—and in 3 different seasons. The summer was comfortable thanks to the swamp cooler, and the winter and early spring were cozy thanks to the heat and wood stoves. The location is beyond compare, even magical—a postcard shot out every window. One day it rained a bit and we saw a double rainbow stretching from the ground in front of the lodge to the mountain outside the bedroom window. We found it to be the perfect place for a desert getaway. It is easy to get to town or to Joshua Tree National Park from the lodge, to walk out the back door down the road into the amazing desert landscape, or to just stay put and relax in this marvelous setting. The lodge is very comfortable, very clean, and beautifully appointed, with lovely attention to detail. It felt like someone had anticipated every little thing we needed. The spa is definitely the icing on the cake! The owner was really nice to work with and arrangements were easy to make. This wonderful place gets a five-star review all around. We can’t wait to go back again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Why the Owner Chose Joshua Tree:
We had no intention of buying in the desert although it has always been our favorite place to reset our spirits. A friend invited us for tea in Pipes Canyon. On the way there, we agreed we would never want to live in a place so remote. After twenty minutes at their house, we called a realtor who brought us to this magical property. The sheer drama of the panoramic views, the power of Black Lava Butte and we were hooked. We made an offer the next day and we have never looked back. Sharing this wonderful hideaway with artists and thinkers continues to thrill and inspire us.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The play of light from dawn to starry night sky. The wildlife. The brilliant colors of the sunsets. Soaking in the indoor mineral spa with a warm
fire burning. The warmth of the stone fireplace in the great room, 'sit down' dinners in the luxurious formal dining room, cooking in the amazing
and perfectly stocked kitchen, hiking in the 60,000 acre 'park like' wilderness out the front door, waking to the golden glow of the sun coming up
on black lava butte, just outside your window. Watching the sunset from the boulder monument on the property or from the 60 foot covered front
veranda.
