- The River House is more than an ordinary vacation home. It's charming on the outside and cozy inside with all modern amenities, and a very Provencal flavor. There is a private pier, perfect for catching crabs, launching a boat, watching herons and other birds, or just relaxing. We can arrange kayak and bike rentals for guests. Inside the cottage, it's bright and light with unobstructed views, cozy fireplace, lovely all year round, and warmed by sun throughout the year. Convenient to both Easton and St Michaels with shops, antiques, cafes and elegant restaurants...you won't run out of things to do. Guests who visit the River House often want to visit our restored Village House in the heart of Provence, France. It's located in Grambois, a medieval perched village not far from Aix en Provence. Why the Owner Chose St. Michaels
Situated on Oak Creek in Royal Oak, Maryland, the River House is located between the historic towns of Easton and St. Michaels. Although it was a true "fixer-upper," our cottage offered just what we were looking for--a peaceful getaway spot with lots of room, plenty of activities closeby, and opportunity for kayaking, biking, strolling, or just "chilling."
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
While we have our favorite restaurants in Easton, St. Michaels, and Oxford, we enjoy dining in and watching the constant parade of waterfowl on Oak Creek. At the River House, with its spectacular water views, we feel insulated from the stress of our everyday lives, yet we can be as active or inactive as we want--we're never bored or at a loss for a fun or peaceful way to spend our time.

My wife and I have been Baltimore residents all our lives, but we have always loved spending time in the more serene parts of Maryland's Eastern Shore. Now that our children are grown (including one grandchild) and living nearby, we wanted to find a vacation home within easy driving distance that we could use as a family gathering place.

Just a very relaxing place to stay...close enough to St Michaels, peaceful location... beautiful views...I was concerned my 3 kids (10-15) wouldn't have anything to do...but all we needed was a kayak, some crab traps and just relaxed in our 5 day stay...... The setup of the house is great..Nice open floor plan and nicely decorated... definitely a great find
Recommended for:Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

A wonderful cottage easily accessed from DC or Baltimore. Right on the river, the River House is beautifully decorated, cosy and easily sleeps 6. It's very close to St. Michaels and Easton. We had a fantastic weekend there and just wish we could have stayed longer!

We had a terriffic stay at the River House.. lovely decor, very comfortable. Highly reccommend "Bella Luna", a restaurant that is "3 minutes" away!! St Michaels is fun, quaint and a great "home base " for short day trips to interesting little towns in the area.

This was a wonderful vacation experience. The cottage is absolutely lovely and very comfortable, with all the amenities one needs. The views are magnificent (we saw two bald eagles). I am looking for an excuse to come back!

I am hesitant to even mention how wonderful this house is because I hope to rent again without competition! The location is excellent as it is close to the lovely town of St. Michaels and the Oxford ferry. The best part of the property is the 180 degree views of the river. From nearly every room, we were able to enjoy a beautiful and peaceful view. The home was clean, comfortable and well appointed.

Although the weather was not on our side with below freezing temperatures, or maybe in spite of this, we enjoyed our stay from within the cabin. The views to the waterfront were spectacular. We had a great time observing the bald eagles and falcons and all the beautiful little birds which we don't know by name. The house is beautifully decorated and comfortable and made us feel at home. We will come again anytime of the year.
