We arrived at the condo as planned last evening; and everything looks great. The view from the lanai meets all my wife's expectations ie close to the beach, waves beating on the shore. The condo is excellent, just as promised. I'm watching the waves waiting for the sun to rise above the mountain; looks like another glorious day in Maui!

Hi Herb and Kathy, Sorry this thank you is sooo late but things have been busy since returning from your great condo. We just wanted to say thank you for allowing us to use your beautiful condo. Everything was great and just as you promised. Also thank you for returning the deposit check so quickly. The kids wanted to fish and I bought two inexpensive poles and the kids had a great time catching fish from the sea wall. I hope you don't mind but we left the poles for others to use. Since coming to the Papakea several years ago, the kids developed a great love of catching frogs by the pond at night. I thought they would have outgrown this tradition by now, since they are so much older now (16,14,11) but they had the best time catching frogs with the new friends they made. My older son really enjoyed the Jacuzzi with his new friends but I actually found him several times looking for the frogs instead. We are already making plans for the summer of 2013 for the family vacation again and I am actualy trying to sneak in a 8 day trip for just my wife and I before that. We never had a honeymoon and I am trying to sneak it in but I am not sure how I am going to do this. So I will concentrate on the 2013 family vacation for now and work on the honeymoon in between. When would be the best time to make reservations for 2013. Thank you again,

Aloha Herb and Kathy!! We had a wonderful stay at your vacation condo!! It was very cozy, loved the large kitchen granite counter, and truly enjoyed sitting on the lanai!! My mother-in-law loved watching the ocean and sunset every night. We will recommend your place to friends/family looking for ideas on where to stay. We miss the sun and beach!! Hi, Herb-My friends and I are checking out this morning. We had a FABULOUS time! Thank you for sharing your amazing condo with us! It was so nice discovering snorkel gear and lounge chairs and boogie boards-that was great. The beds and linens were REALLY comfortable, and you have done such a beautiful job decoating the place with all the granite and the amazing master shower! Everything went smoothly-the only casualty was I did drop and break a cereal bowl! I do apologize for that-of course just take it out of my deposit! I don't think I can go back to eating breakfast anywhere but on a beach-front lanai-thanks again for everything! Beth

Dear Herb: Your refund cheque for the security deposit arrived in yesterday's mail. Thank you for sending that so quickly. I forgot to mention that this trip was a wonderful one for our friends from Florida. He had a chemo treatment the day before they came to Maui, and although he was very tired for the first few days, it was just the tonic he needed. We spent many happy hours on the balcony, and ate all our dine-in meals out there. Just so you know, we did not feel at all crowded in your unit. It's lay-out accommodated us very comfortably. Ross and I took the pull-out, and we both slept like babies--lulled by the wonderful sounds of the Pacific!! Thanks again for everything. I just wanted to say thanks for renting us your beautiful condo in Papakea. We had a terrific time and the accommodations were perfect. We were extwmely happy with the location, but even more so, everything that was provided in the condo. It was just as advertised and I can't wait to stay there again some time in the future. We left a couple of beach chairs in the closet so there is a set of 4. We tried to pick up as best as possible and we left the condo in great shape. Thank you for sharing your wonderful piece of paradise with us this week. It is so beautiful. We watched the whales from the balcony. Black Rock was amazing. Saw a huge sea turtle snorkling. Herb and Kathy, Well we sadly departed Papakea yesterday and now we are back in Anchorage with 8" of new snow and more on the way! Just wanted to say that the place was fantastic and we hope we can come back again! Thanks for sharing your home with us! Everyone we met was so nice. We had our Kona coffee and fresh Maui Gold pineapple every morning on the lanai - it was just perfect! We could not have picked a better place and will highly recommend your place to anyone who plans a trip to Maui! Thank you again - everything went 100% smoothly. I couldn't get through though as your recording said you weren't accepting calls. Your place was so relaxing and so comfortable. We couldn't have been happier. We would like to come next year again but we probably won't need two bedrooms as I don't think my father in law will be able to co come next year as travelling was very hard on him. Hi, there. We had a wonderful time. You and Kathy have a beautiful "second home" there on Maui and we have often thought if we should try and buy into something like that so we could go over more often than we do .Sounds like you are looking to spruce up what you already have and I'm sure it will look even more beautiful and welcoming. Yeah, it sounds like a working vacation for the both of you, but I know you will take time to enjoy the lanai and its awesome views. Like we mentioned earlier, Dave was very good about working with us and I felt bad that he, too, was on vacation and had to be interrupted, You should have wonderful weather in Septimber as well. Our entire family had its best vacation ever. The Papakea Resort is wonderful, as is your stunning condo. We love the views from your lanai, where we have our breakfasts and lunches. We've never seen more beautiful sunsets. Thanks again for your restaurant tips. We stopped at the Kula lodge after our trip to the top of the volcano. Dinner was great! Hi Herb - I just wanted to thank you again for extending our stay - we had a wonderful time staying at your condo. I left a few things at the condo that will be useful for the next guests like laundry detergent and some reusable plastic containers and 2 reusable ice packs for picnics etc. I assume that everything else was fine - we took good care of everything! When we departed yesterday we tried to make certain that everything was in order and left a note for Dave. Herb and Kathy - I am sitting on your sofa writing this message - our trip is coming to an end. It has been beautiful over here this week. Hi, Herb and Kathy- Thank you for the return of our deposit. We had a wonderful time at your condo and very much enjoyed our stay there. The location is absolutely perfect and we found the lanai so enjoyable. The grounds of the resort are very well maintained and we enjoyed the pool, hot tub and the exercise classes that were offered. We very much enjoyed watching the whales from the lanai. Some days they were quite close to shore and other days they were further away. But, we had our binoculars with us and watched many groups of whales over the three week period - there was not a day that we did not see several whales. The weather was beautiful. We did manage to get get out and find the sea turtles that are literally directly in line with your lanai - a couple of hundred yards out in the ocean. We were very appreciative that we were able to stay late on our last day as that was the the very best day we had for snorkeling. The Farmers Market and market for fresh fish are both so handy. We made sure we went to the Farmers Market every day that they were open. Their produce was a wonderful mid-winter treat for us and the fresh fish from the fish market was excellent on the grill. The proprietors there were very helpful in suggesting fish that we wouyld enjoy and then helping us know how to cook it. I am sending you some pictures that we took from the lanai - you can use them in any way you like. There should be eleven. Thanks once again for all your help in planning our vacation. We hope we will be visiting Maui again soon.
