Location: Dennis, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USA (East Dennis, Just Off Historic Route 6 A)
Accommodations: Cottage, 3 Bedrooms + No additional sleeping rooms avail, 2 Baths (Sleeps 6-8)
Keywords: Cottage
This charming, tucked-away, 2-floor cottage off Route 6-A is for cozy and easy living. It is on a small hill, with a view of the Bay as you turn into the dirt road towards the house. Both the private ocean/bay beach and the lake (right across the street on Route 6-A) are within a 3-minute walk from the cottage. Sunsets are exquisite, as are expansive walks on the beach.
Although there are homes nearby, the neighborhood is quaint and out-of-the-way from traffic and noise. Historic Route 6-A offers lots of activities: antique and craft shops, restaurants, Cape Playhouse, an art movie theatre, a natural history museum, the Cape Cod Museum of Art, and access to Route 6, Provincetown, and Hyannis with frequent ferries to and from Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket for day trips.
There are 2 excellent 18-hole golf courses nearby: Dennis Pines and Dennis Highlands. Tennis is available at both private and public facilities in the area. With multiple beaches, there are many opportunities for swimming, boating and fishing.
The biking on the Cape Rails to Trails path is flat, scenic and easy as a family activity. In addition, there are many hiking trails for observing lots of different native vegetation and flora.
When it isn't sunny or if the inclination is to stay indoors, the kitchen, recently renovated, has bar stools for 4 and is well stocked with utensils, new appliances (including an electric stove, a refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher)and a lobster pot for an at-home clambake. A dining room next to the kitchen also has a fireplace for that unexpected cool evening.
The Berber carpeted living room has comfortable furniture, including a recliner, and a television with cable service along with a VCR and DVD. Sliding glass doors in one direction lead to the sunroom used as a bedroom with 2 twin beds. The sliding glass doors in the other direction open to the deck outfitted with a new gas grill as well as a large wooden picnic table and 2 plastic chairs. Outside is an outdoor shower for taking off beach sand and a clothesline for hanging wet bathing suits and towels.
There are 2 other bedrooms in the cottage--one on the first floor with a queen-size bed with access to a full bathroom (with a tub) off the kitchen, and the other--with its own private bath--on the 2nd floor. The 2nd floor offers a getaway for a couple or for parents, where there is a comfortable bedroom with another queen-size bed, cozy sitting/working area, and full bathroom with a shower. Beds have bedspreads or quilts and pillows. We only ask that you bring your own sheets and towels.
Located near the ocean bay, the house rarely is very hot. Fans are available throughout the house--just in case. A dehumidifier in the basement keeps the house from getting too humid and moist.
The owners, who live in Boston, are available by phone to answer questions or help solve problems should any come up.

We loved the house: It was perfect for our family of four (2 young children). The nearby lake was great for them as it's shallow, and they loved romping in the surf at the beach, which was also great for a morning jog (as well as the surrounding streets). Very nice, quiet location, private. Beautiful area, with 6A and its antique shops and inns and much, much more. We had a great stay.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Perfect!

What a perfect cottage! Great price, great beach, great house! Literally everything has been great! From the reservations to our final night! The best place we've stayed on the cape! You'll feel like your @ the beach, but not in a camp. 5 of us here and plenty of room. Just a word to the wise...study the tide chart...lol. Can't wait to come back next year!
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.
