Three traditional B&B rooms are on the top floor: the Kahili Master Suite (private entrance and King bed); the Maile Room (a single bed room) and Hina's Bed Chamber (a double bed room). Laka's Garden is the third unit, located in a tropical garden setting and is a large, separate one bedroom apartment, including living and dining area, with a double bed, convertible sofa bed, full kitchen, screened-in lanai, and private entrance.
Guest rooms feature SelectComfort "Sleep Number" beds covered in 600-count Egyptian cotton sheets and hand-made quilts. Room rates include daily lavish Continental breakfast, Jacuzzi, flat screen HDTVs, Wi-Fi and free local and domestic long distance phone service.
Hale O Nanakai is close to grocery stores, shops and restaurants as well as being minutes away from major sight-seeing areas (National Tropical Botanical Gardens, Waimea Canyon, Hanapepe Art Night, the Lawai International Center, Mahaulepu Beach, Spouting Horn, top-rated Poipu beaches and Kauai Coffee Visitors Center).
Yoga instruction is available on the premises or beach upon request. An on-call masseuse and private Cessna airplane tours are also available upon request.
Here’s what guests are saying:
“The ambience of this beautiful chalet exudes the warmth of the fine woodwork, the beauty of natural stone and tile and the feeling of modern luxury combined with European antiquity and upscale tropical touches,” Uli Deitz, Berlin, Germany.
Attention to every detail in the home's guest rooms was meticulously lavished by owner Sheila Heathcote, twenty-year resident of Hawaii. "I lovingly and passionately created and personally designed this bed and breakfast for guests seeking an alternative from commercialized visitor destinations".
"My home is my castle and I consider my guests as royalty," says Sheila. "Because of my study of Hawaiian culture, native botany and archaeology, and my passion for outdoor activities, I am here to offer unique tips on aspects of Kauai that most visitors never get to experience."

Why the Owner Chose Kalaheo
The South Shore of Kauai was the natural choice for me after living in a beautiful, plantation-style cabin in Koke'e State Park (adjacent to Waimea Canyon State Park) for three years following the 1992 Hurricane Iniki. Kalaheo's "upcountry" location provides sweeping panoramas of the azure ocean and the emerald coffee fields and is located in a quiet residential area away from the commercial, tourist-oriented zone. It is, however, only 20 minutes from Lihue Airport and 5 minutes from Koloa's shops, restaurants, farmer's market and grocery stores. World-class beaches are located in the nearby Poipu area.
The Unique Benefits at this Bed & Breakfast
Located within walking distance of Kukuiolono Golf Course with it's forested jogging trails and the National Tropial Botanical Garden's Education Center, one can hike through the McBryde Coffee Plantation fields to scenic cliffs abutting the ocean.
Private flight-seeing tours on a Cessna 172 can be arranged at discounted prices and a masseuse will come to the property "on-call" to provide massage therapy.
Hale O Nanakai Bed & Breakfast is surrounded by mature fruit trees, native and indigenous plants and shrubs and beautiful ornamental flowers. Breakfast (included in the room rate) provides guests with a sampling of the property's fruit in season, and cut tropical flowers adorn the main dining area and guest rooms. The home is styled in the Hawaiian tradition, with bright open spaces, beautiful views and feng shui winds that glide through the rooms.

"My home is my castle and I consider my guests as royalty," says Sheila. "Because of my study of Hawaiian culture, native botany and archaeology, and my passion for outdoor activities, I am here to offer unique tips on aspects of Kauai that most visitors never get to experience."
Sheila has lived on Kauai for more than 18 years. The first 3 of those years were spent living in an Old 1930's Plantation Cabin in the mountainous area known as Koke'e. She has hiked the majority of the trails in the area and indeed on the island. A pastime that she continues today with a passion. She has immersed herself into the Hawaiian Culture, learning both the language and the Hula!. If you love to hike or simply want to know more about the islands or even the best place to eat or visit, Sheila will happily help you get the best from your vacation. It is what she does - naturally.
