The traditional B&B consists of three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious living and dining “common” areas, and a 500 square foot sun deck. I can comfortably sleep two couples and a single.
Because of the antiques, glass tables, mirrors and picture windows, as well as the elevated lanai and balconies, this area is suitable ONLY for adults.
The three bedrooms include: the Kahili Master Suite (private entrance, private bath and King bed); the Maile Room (a single bed room) and Hina's Bed Chamber (a double bed room; shares bath with Hina) a large living and dining area and a 500 square ft. sun deck with ocean views. Available for a minimum of three nights or for extended stays. Rent entire upstairs for $275 /nt. + 13.5% tax + $125 cleaning fee + damage deposit. Individual rooms for smaller parties also available (Kahili $135/nt.; Hina $110/nt. or Maile Room $75/nt.)
We also have a lovely 2 room apt. called LAKA'S GARDEN with Queen & sofa bed (sleeps up to 4 starting at $160/nt. OK for kids OVER 12) with full kitchen and ocean views available ... Contact us for details.
WiFi, free phone service, cable TV, Hawaiiana Library, beach gear, coolers, day packs, sand chairs & mats. Off-street parking.
Hale O Nanakai is close to Koloa, Poipu, Hanapepe and Ele'ele grocery stores, shops and restaurants as well as being minutes away from major sight-seeing areas (National Tropical Botanical Gardens, Waimea Canyon, Hanapepe Art Night, the Lawai International Center, Mahaulepu Beach, Spouting Horn, top-rated Poipu beaches and Kauai Coffee Visitors Center).

After travelling for nearly 20 hours from England, I was glad to arrive at the B&B. Shelia was very welcoming. After being given a quick run down on the beautiful rooms, I was left to settle in and have a good nights sleep. The following morning and every morning of my stay, I awoke to a lovely breakfast of Bagels and fresh fruit, along with sunshine and great views. Shelia answered my many questions on best best places to go and best things to do. Shelia has vast knowledge of the island and of the traditions and history of the island. I cant wait for my next trip to Kauai and I will ensure I stay with Shelia again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you Jan! I hope you will return again. Thanks for the wonderful review.

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was wonderful to absorb the atmosphere and see the sunrise each morning on the deck. The whole house is beautifully decorated!!! We especially enjoyed the breakfast times which included the fresh fruit of pineapple, papaya, lichy fruit, bananas. Sheila and Simon were great hosts...even on the day of the tsunami warnings, they were very calm and encouraging. We would return without any qualms! We were surprised to hear the roosters crowing early in the a.m. :) Just didn't associate them with the islands, but enjoyed them all around.Owner response: Thank you kindly! It was such a pleasure to have you as guests. We hope you will return soomn! Aloha, Sheila and Simon Hale O Nanakai B&B

Dear Prospective visitors, My wife and I recently stayed at the Hale O Nanakai bed and breakfast in Kauai, Hawaii. The island of Kauai is also known as the garden island. Simon & Sheila were great hosts second to none. The rooms and bathroom were super clean. Sheila provided us with everything we needed for our stay. Including outdoor equipment that we could not take with us. Minnie and I highly recommend staying at the Halo O Nanakai. We also enjoyed the fact that there were not a lot of tourist but the island offered everything we expected to see and do in Hawaii. Mahalo Ray and MinnieOwner response: Dear Ray and Minnie, Thank you for your glowing review. It is really appreciated. Please come back and see us again soon!

Aloha, What a treat is was for our women's group to be the first to stay at Hale O Nanakai! It is all new and decorated so beautifully. The warmth and comfort is totally inviting. Whether in the Kahili master bed room, the Hina Bed Chamber or the Maile Room... every room feels special and cozy. We had wonderful conversations around the dining table while enjoying local fruits, pastries and coffee. The special touches thoughout the house, the beautiful living room, the view from the lanai (not to mention the Jacuzzi) just completed the joy of our visit. I highly recommend this B&B as one of the top stays on Kauai! Frieda FreitasOwner response: Dear Freida, Your lovely review has helped kick start this business and has been greatly appreciated. Owner info
Year Purchased: 1996
About the owner: 'In my fifth year of being a Bed and Breakfast hostess, I have learned many things from guests that have helped me improve services and the overall B&B experience, owner Sheila Heathcote explains. 'My home is a castle and I consider my guests as royalty,' says Sheila. 'Because of my study of Hawaiian culture, native botany and archaeology, and my passion for outdoor activities, I am here to offer unique tips on aspects of Kauai that most visitors never get to experience.' 'I have lived on Kauai since 1992 and in Hawaii since 1988. Essential to my integration to these beautiful islands, I studied about native plants, birds and conservation efforts. A degree at Kauai Community College allowed me to explore the Hawaiian culture, archaeology, Polynesian Voyaging and other useful courses to enhance my knowledge. I danced hula with Healani's Hula Halauand spent three years living in the uplant forest of Ko'kee in an Old 1930's Plantation Cabin. I became involved with Koke'e Museum and trained as an interpretive hike guide, and also tagged along with botanists, entymologissts, mycologists, geologists and orinthologists to learn as much as I could about 'the mountain'. I have hiked all the trails in the Waimea Canyon and Koke'e State Park areas, as well as throughout the island. I am an amateur windsurfer, certified scuba diver, Na Pali coast and river kayaker and all-around beach lover. I would be delighted to share with you my personal knowledge of the best, safest, and most stunning beaches on Kauai, and the activites that are the most fun!
Why the Owner Chose Kalaheo:
The South Shore of Kauai was the natural choice for me after living in a beautiful, plantation-style cabin in Koke'e State Park (adjacent to Waimea Canyon State Park) for three years following the 1992 Hurricane Iniki. Kalaheo's 'upcountry' location provides sweeping panoramas of the azure ocean and the emerald coffee fields and is located in a quiet residential area away from the commercial, tourist-oriented zone. It is, however, only 20 minutes from Lihue Airport and 5 minutes from Koloa's shops, restaurants, farmer's market and grocery stores. World-class beaches are located in the nearby Poipu area.
The Unique Benefits at this Bed And Breakfast:
Located within walking distance of Kukuiolono Golf Course with it's forested jogging trails and the National Tropial Botanical Garden's Education Center, one can hike through the McBryde Coffee Plantation fields to scenic cliffs abutting the ocean.
Private flight-seeing tours on a Cessna 172 can be arranged at discounted prices and a masseuse will come to the property 'on-call' to provide massage therapy.
Hale O Nanakai Bed & Breakfast is surrounded by mature fruit trees, native and indigenous plants and shrubs and beautiful ornamental flowers. Breakfast (included in the room rate) provides guests with a sampling of the property's fruit in season, and cut tropical flowers adorn the main dining area and guest rooms. The home is styled in the Hawaiian tradition, with bright open spaces, beautiful views and feng shui winds that glide through the rooms.
