The view teases you from the moment you pull into our driveway. Once inside it simply captivates you. Equally remarkable is the historic town of Dahlonega itself, with its quintessential courthouse square. Our home, about 7 miles north of town, is perched on the side of Cedar Mountain. Settle into a wicker rocker on our porch with your morning cup of coffee and watch the sun climbing over Yonah Mountain and the Appalachian foothills.

Great restaurants, live theater, antiquing and panning for gold are just a few of the things to do while you're here. Just a quick turn off the Dahlonega Wine Trail, our home is a perfect place to stay if your planning to take a tour or attend an event. Then, there's also the hiking, waterfalls, truly amazing twisties, rafting, not to mention the exciting new North Georgia Canopy Tours in nearby Lula.

The house is a flexible combination of three suites, each with it's own stunning view and separate entrance. Carson's Run is a very unique home that can accommodate up to twelve in for a wedding party, family reunion or group vacation. Need something smaller? Each suite can be rented on its own. Call us for details on renting just what you need.

The Phoenix Suite sleeps up to six guests. The Gathering Room features a sitting area in front of a fieldstone fireplace on one side, perfect for curling up with a great book. On game day, or movie night, the TV area with it's 46' Wide screen, is the place to be. One of the two sofas is also a queen size pull-out. This unit has a fully outfitted kitchen with adjoining dining room. A large sultry Master Suite with king size brass bed also provides a cozy sitting area for a bit of peace and quiet. The second bedroom has a queen size bed and can be accessed from the master bedroom if needed. Out on the screen porch, you'll find a daybed and a few rocking chairs; a nice place to get together at the end of the day. Also on the porch we have a dining spot. You can serve dinner right from the grill as the sun sets.

The Fireside Suite conveniently adjoins the Phoenix on the same level. This small romantic suite with private bath and separate entrance features a queen size iron bed right in front of a gas fireplace. There is a screened porch for morning coffee that you can prepare in your own very neat mini-kitchen.

On the lower level, the Mystic Suite adds a queen bed as well as a queen pull-out sleep sofa in the sitting area. This suite has a country modern feel with an eclectic combination of antiques and collected pieces. A fully equipped kitchen comes outfitted right down to the salt, pepper, sugar and Splenda. This unit also has it's own entrance and a wrap around porch.

Our house has everything you need to hideaway for a week or maybe longer.... Don't forget the groceries!

What makes this different from other houses for rent in the Georgia mountains is you feel like you are a guest in someone's home instead of being in a rental property with second-hand furniture and appliances. The house is beautifully decorated. The kitchen is well equipped and was great for preparing meals for our group of foodies. There is a brand new five burner stove that was as nice as my stove at home. It was great to have two full refridgerators to store all the food and drink we brought. The views from the house are outstanding. One morning we all woke up at 6:45am to enjoy watching the sunrise and drinking mimosas. It was too cold for us to take full advantage of the deck and porches but I think in the warmer weather I would be spending most of my time on the porch off the dining room with a daybed and table and chairs. The house is also very well situated and is close to the town of Dahlonega, several wineries, and good hiking trails. The owner was very responsive from my initial inquiry to the follow-up after the stay. You cannnot go wrong choosing this place for your getaway.

My husband and I wanted "the perfect place" to celebrate Christmas with our son and his family and we found it at Carson's Run. Even with rain everyday but 2 of our 10 day stay, we had the most wonderful time with room to gather or have some space. We occupied the Phoenix and the Fireside Suites and there was not an ammenity that was not available. We cooked all but 2 lunches at the house and every possible utensil to make our meals was available. The morning sunrise was breathtaking and even in the bitter cold (20 degrees) I was out on the patio and up the driveway to capture a multitude of pictures. The owner provided us with some things to do including bringing a rock from our home in TX and placing on the grave of an Indian Princess. There are not enough words to describe this wonderful home and as someone else said in a review, the pictures on this site do not do it justice. Our son and his family had lost their home to a fire caused by lightning in Aug. 2012 and were "camping out" in an apartment waiting for their house to be rebuilt. Our Christmas at Carson's Run was just what they needed and I believe it will sustain them until their house is ready once again. We loved visiting the town of Dahlonega and Helen. Thank you Steve and Melissa for opening this home to us.

My brothers and I met here for a Thanksgiving Family reunion. The 3 suites were perfect for our families to have their own space but plenty of room for gathering in the main living room and also big kitchen for cooking/grilling and large dining space. Kitchen was fully furnished! We didn't need to bring any cooking equipment. They even thought of the small touches like soaps! The cabin is more beautiful than the photos. And the views are breathtaking! I highly recommend!

The cabin was fantastic. It was spacious and the owners provided all of the necessary basics down to the little shampoos. It was beautifully decorated and felt very homey instead of the sterile feeling you get from hotel rooms. The cabin provided a comfortable place for the whole family to sit and mingle and also comfortable and spacious bedrooms in which to retire.

Myself and about 11 other people stayed at Carson Run. The place slept 8 people in full size beds and then an additional four on two sleeper couches! With such a large group it was great to be able to accommodate so many people. A nice surprise was that there is not one but two gas grills at the cabin.

We enjoyed everything about our 10 day stay. The photo descriptions were accurate. I traveled with a man in a wheelchair. Prior to our stay we discussed our situation with the owners. He was completely honest, and we were happy. There is only one step down into the kitchen area. The floor plan is very open, so my friend was able to be in the middle of everything that was happening. The two attached upstairs apartments are completely accessible and spacious for someone who can manage an independent transfer. There are plenty of places to enjoy the morning sunrises. The entrances, driveway, and the road behind the cabin were easily accessed by my friend and his electric wheelchair. The views were incredible. Everything was immaculate. The kitchen had every type of pots and pans, and utensils. Unbelievably clean. I am a bicycler, and road is on the 6 Gap route. Challenging bicycling, Beautiful views. I was about 3 miles from the Woody Gap Appalachian trail head. Equally fun. Our family spent time in the Dahlonega Historic area, where there was a large choice of Eateries, and curio shops. The gold museums, and college were interesting. Driving to many of the falls were a highlight of our trip. Quite a few of the falls were visible from the car. We liked the privacy and quiet. I would definitely return.

We found Carson's Run earlier in 2011. We rented all units for a week. The home was great and Steve was too. We enjoyed the available privacy created by the home's layout and the view from the upper level is awesome. The screen porches were our favorite places! We miss it already and are hoping to return soon.

When renting long distance (and over the Internet) you always hold your breath just a bit until you actually see the home. In this case, our expectations were far and away exceeded! Steve and Melissa your home is absolutely beautiful. The furnishings and decor are wonderful and the house was so clean. The fact that we had everything we could possibly need made us feel like we were staying at a friend's house rather than a rental! The sunrises were spectacular (my coffee just won't taste as good this week without 'em). We are already planning our next visit! I am going to make it a point to stay long enough that I can bring a good book to read out on the screen porch! Thanks for sharing your home with us.

We spent a week at Carson's Run. The three separate suites were perfect for our family reunion. Each individual family had some privacy when they wanted it which was a big plus. The kitchens were well stocked and everything was clean. The owners were available by phone or e mail when we had questions. We were also pleased that we had good cell phone reception with AT&T. This was a wonderful place for a family reunion!

An interior designer with a degree in business management coupled with a passionate motorcyclist and property manager make up this duo. Steve stumbled into Dahlonega on a motorcycle trip with a couple of buddies in 1995. The postcard to Melissa that day read, 'You've just got to see this town!'. Ten years later we headed down to Georgia to have a look see. Skipping from town to town, Steve saved Dahlonega for last. It was love at first sight. Two days later we had found the house on Cedar Mountain and a year later it was ours.

                      Why Dahlonega:
We chose Dahlonega because when we are here, we feel like we have stepped back in time, a time before fast-food. Dahlonega is a place where people really do say hi to folks they have never met. It's a place to live out our life where living matters. There's a kinship between North Georgia and the landscape of New England. Here, we can enjoy the warmer weather without giving up the changing seasons.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
The house itself is unique, in that it is made up of three interconnected suites, each with it's own character. Families can spend time together catching up, while enjoying the privacy a stand alone cabin offers. Separate entrances let everyone come and go as they please without disturbing the others in the group. As any portion of the house can be rented on its own, smaller parties or individuals can find the suite that works best for them.
