Description: Casita de la Luna is the epitome of the charming, authentic (original adobe) casita which everyone looks for when visiting Santa Fe. It is located within a 10-15 minute (.7 mile) walk of the center of old Santa Fe’s picturesque plaza.

In the summer enjoy our private walled garden (shared with our other casita, Casita del Sol) with comfortable outdoor seating. In the winter, cozy up by your own kiva fireplace (wood provided in winter months). The property is very private and quiet and features authentic hand-painted Mexican tile and coved ceilings with original vigas. Upon your arrival, you will find all the ingredients for a continental breakfast!

Amenities: Deep porches with comfortable benches. Private walled garden with comfortable seating. Furnished with hand-carved Southwestern style furniture. Kiva fireplace and complimentary firewood (in winter months). New flat screen television and satellite service, VCR, DVD, stereo CD player, DSL. The casita features fully equipped kitchen with stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher, full size refrigerator, as well as all utensils, dishes, etc.

The bedroom features fine linens for a wonderful night’s sleep. There is a full sleeper sofa in the living room. The sunny atmosphere is the result of skylights throughout and the casita is tastefully decorated with attractive artwork and hand-woven rugs. There is off-street parking available. Laundry facilities, iron and ironing board.

The casita is maintained with care and pride and we have lots of return guests!

Casita de la Luna is approximately 830 square feet and features:

· Wood floors in living room and bedroom; tile in bathroom
· Large spa tub in bathroom
· Inviting king size bed in the bedroom with iron headboard and footboard
· Full sleeper sofa in the living room

Area:
Casita de la Luna is located in the historic Guadalupe district, at 102 Pena Place. It is a short walk to the Santuario de Guadalupe, the Georgia O’Keefe Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, Palace of the Governors, etc. Restaurants within easy walking distance include the Cowgirl Hall of Fame, the well known Coyote Café, the renowned Pink Adobe, as well as many others. There are many shops and galleries filled with lots of interesting and attractive merchandise.

A/C: The property does not have air conditioning and it is not necessary. This is the original adobe construction which has been used in New Mexico for centuries. The adobe walls keep the casitas cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The only kind of air conditioning that I could put in these historic buildings would be window units and I refuse to do that as they can be quite noisy and unsightly. We do have fans available for the summer months if people want to use them. In addition, in Santa Fe, the nights are about 30 degrees cooler than the days, so we do not have warm summer nights. We have guests who return every summer and know that the casitas are very comfortable. I remember a couple from Southern California who stayed with us a few years ago. They were concerned that there was no air conditioning, but they decided to stay anyway. They later told me that they were totally comfortable and were very pleased to have stayed in our property.

Why the Owner Chose Guadalupe

10-15 minute walk to the plaza, but less expensive than staying on the East side. A few blocks from the new Railyard.

The Unique Benefits at this Casita

I always put in the makings for a breakfast (cereal, milk, juice, bread, jam, fruit, butter) so people won't have to arrive in the afternoon and then immediately go find a grocery store.

Owner's Map of Guadalupe

My husband and I bought this property more than seven years ago. When I first saw it, I knew it was the one because of the privacy, quiet, peacefulness and short walk to the plaza. I love owning the property and the people who come back year after year. We have lived in Santa Fe for almost 9 years and live a little bit outside of the city limits. We have an 11-year-old son, two collies, a cat and two pet rats.

    • We recently spent one week in Santa Fe staying at Casita de la Luna. Upon entering the Casita, we knew we had chosen the right place to stay. The decor was so tasteful and comfortable and was such a nice place to return to after a day of exploring Santa Fe. The Casita had everything that we needed. What a nice surprise to find thoughtfully chosen foods for breakfast the first morning (no dashing off to the market first thing). Also included, a nice basket of fruit and another filled with local goodies - chocolate, cookies, coffee. The cleanliness and the comfortable furnishings really made the Casita feel like home away from home. The extra added bonus was that it was within walking distance of the plaza, railyard (which has a wonderful farmer's market)and more. We would love to return to Santa Fe again in the near future and would stay at Casita de la Luna for our next visit.

      Homeowner Response:
Dear Kathy and Greg, I'm so happy that you were pleased with my efforts to try to make your accommodations comfortable. Thanks for your kind comments. Roxanne Connan

    • Our stay could not have been more enjoyable. Casa de Luna is perfect for a Santa Fe vacation, so comfortable and convenient. An easy walk to the plaza and downtown Santa Fe. After a long day of touring, hiking or whatever it was so nice to return to. It has all the information and conveniences anyone would want. We look forward to a return visit.

      Homeowner Response:
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Cushing, Thank you for taking the time to enter your comments. We would welcome you back at any time. Roxanne Connan

    • Casita del Sol (the companion casita to Casita del la Luna) is one of the finest places we have stayed in more than 35 years of traveling in the US and abroad. The property is delightful, with a private, well-maintained garden, and is meticulously maintained. The amenities and appointments are first rate, from the furnishings, to the bedding and linens, to the laundry facilities and the completely stocked kitchen, to the thoughtful and much appreciated complementary breakfast foods and Santa Fe snacks. Not a thing is overlooked. In this respect, the casita is without peer. We felt like we were housesitting for a friend rather than lodging at a public accommodation. On top of it all, there is not a better neighborhood to stay in all of Santa Fe. It was dead quiet at night; the only sound was the patter of rain on the roof. We kept wondering where the barks of the neighborhood dogs were--nothing! Plus, the casita is located a short stroll from the Sanbusco shopping district, the newly remodeled train yard complex and the plaza. The off-street parking is a most welcome addition. We've stayed in Santa Fe many times over nearly 20 years and this was our best experience yet. We commend for providing such a wonderful place at such reasonable prices. Certainly, this won't be our last visit.

      Homeowner Response:
Dear Tom and Karen, Your kind comments mean so much to me. It is a real pleasure to own these casitas and interact with the people who stay there. Thank you for recognizing the efforts that I take to make this the best experience that I can for folks coming to visit Santa Fe. Come back soon! Roxanne

    • It was a delight to stay at Casita del Sol. Everything that you could want or need was provided by Roxanne. From the wonderful bread and cookies, to cereal, milk, fruit, coffee etc. The patio was aslo a wonderful extra. It is a great place for coffee in the morning, and relax with a glass of wine in the evening. It is an easy walk to downtown Santa Fe, and other restaurants in the area. It is nice to leave the car behind and walk this beautiful city. Also, having Sharon in Casita #1 to answer questions and give suggestions on what to see in New Mexico, and where to eat in Santa Fe was another plus. I would stay at Pena Place again, without a second thought. Thanx again, Roxanne!!!

      Homeowner Response:
Dear Barb, Thanks for letting others know that you enjoyed your stay in our casita. I know it will be helpful to future guests. Come again soon! Roxanne

    • Casita de la Luna is the perfect place to stay if you want to be near the downtown plaza area. Several restaurants in less than a mile radius, and LOTS of shopping nearby! The casita itself had all the accommodations necessary for a comfortable, relaxing stay. Very comfortable bed and pillows! My partner and I appreciated the fully stocked kitchen cupboards and amenities. Highly recommended for couples looking for a quiet place to stay in a Santa Fe casita! Thanks for everything Roxanne!

      Homeowner Response:
Dear Laurel, I'm so glad that you enjoyed your stay here in Santa Fe and, in particular, enjoyed the casita. Thanks very much for your comments. Roxanne

    • The casita was terrific: quiet, comfortable, more spacious and homey than a hotel room and in a terrific location. The seeduction bread, jar of jam, fruit, milk, juice, tea bags and cereal provided breakfast for three days, so we never left the casita before 11 a.m. We walked to and from shows at the Lensic and the Santa Fe Playhouse; the Capitol, the plaza and Canyon Road; dessert at Cowgirls and La Choza; and lunch or dinner at Cafe Pasqual and the Shed. We recommend it as a great place for peace and quiet when you want it while close enough for any activity.

      Homeowner Response:
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Kelly, It is really gratifying to know that you were able to relax and enjoy for a week. Hope you can bring those feelings back when you need them in your everyday world. Roxanne

    • To say our experience of “Casita De La Luna” was a little slice of heaven would be a tremendous understatement. I know why the swallows return yearly to San Juan Capistrano, it is the same reason why I return to Santa Fe year after year. It’s because of the haven we have found nestled in the heart of Santa Fe. After a long day of air travel, I get so excited knowing soon I will being seeing the “St. Francis” exit and know I am about to arrive at my home away from home. No matter what time of day you arrive at your casita when you open the door it welcomes you. In our casita our fireplace is set and ready to go. It has all the comforts of home and then some. My husband does not like to travel because he can never get comfortable in the beds provided at many places. Here he knows he is going to get that great night’s sleep. The bed is not too firm and not too soft. Within moments he is happily snoring into his king sized feather pillow. Roxanne Connan goes out of her way to make sure that while you are here, you feel relaxed, cozy and that this is truly your home away from home. We have come at many different times of the year. Fiesta in September is one of our favorites. No matter what time of year you visit there is always something going on or something to do. I loved the basket of information that is organized for each visitor. Everything you may want to see or visit is right there at your fingertip. We love to look at the 100 plus year old homes on the way to the Plaza. Half a block away Borders is in the San Busco shopping center, or in the casita bedroom there are books from many well known authors to enjoy in the garden. We really didn’t need our car to see a lot of Santa Fe. Time seems to stand still here and one tends to appreciate the value of a stroll. I could go on and on about Pena Place forever. Instead I will just get my reservation in for next year. I don’t want to miss out on yet another vacation made perfect by starting with a casita at Pena Place! Thank you Roxanne Connan for the time and effort you put in to making our stay unforgettable year after year!!

      Homeowner Response:
Dear Terri Lynne and Dal: Many thanks for your kind comments. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay. It would be our pleasure to have you return at any time in the future. Roxanne

    • What a wonderful place to stay while getting to know Santa Fe! The casita is comfortable, quiet, nicely furnished and decorated, with a well-equipped kitchen and very spacious bathroom. Roxanne's little touches make you feel most welcome. The location is convenient for walking to the plaza, farmer's market, and many galleries and shops. You could easily stay here and never need your car. We too hope someday to be able to return to Casa de la Luna.

      Homeowner Response:
Many thanks for your kind comments. It would be our pleasure to have you as return guests at any time. Have a nice summer. Roxanne

    • The place was all we could ask for plus some. The little things that were there; breakfast for your first day, organic good products, firewood, information on what to do, friendly neighbors, clean sheets and bathtubs, etc. The plaza was a perfect walk away-just enough to get warm. Everything was beyond expectation. I would recommend this place for people of all tastes- you will be happy.

      Homeowner Response:
Dear Mr. Fletcher, It was very kind of you to take the time to enter your comments. I know that future guests will really appreciate it. I hope your year goes well. Roxanne

    • What a delightful casita! We walked in the door and there was the wood and starter all ready to light in the kiva fireplace, just one of the many thoughtful touches provided by the owners. And there were directions for building a lasting fire. There were fresh food gifts, maps, directions and comments on restaurants, shopping, sightseeing. But the most pleasant unexpected surprise of all was hopping out of bed that first morning onto a WARM floor--I padded around in bare feet, luxuriating on the radiantly-heated floor. We walked to the Plaza, Tomasita's and other restaurants, and in general had an absolutely wonderful time. We'll be back.

      Homeowner Response:
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Lane, Many thanks for taking the time to add your comments. You know from doing your own search for a vacation rental in Santa Fe that the comments really help reassure those who are looking. Kind regards, Roxanne
