Excellent accomodation, very well appointed. Nice and quiet with a sunny patio to have your breakfast on. Walking distance to the Plaza, Canyon Road, Railyards, in fact practically everywhere although we recommend driving, parking and then walking. Also recommend purchasing a key for parking meters. If we ever visit SF again we will be sure to stay here again. Organic breakfast supplies provided for the firts day were much appreciated especiallyas we got in late at night. Laundry facilities and supplies also much appreciated.

Owner response:Dear Ms. R and Mr. K: Thank you very much for taking the time to enter this review. I am sure it will be helpful to people who are looking for a place to stay in Santa Fe. We hope that you can return sometime. Roxanne

Exceeded expectations

The Casita de la Luna exceeded our expectations. The Casita is beautiful, peaceful and well situated, being within walking to the historic Plaza. There are shops and restaurants nearby to satisfy all. The creature comforts of home have been provided by the owners, Roxanne and Andy. Love the Santa Fe style and would not hesitate to recommend this location to our friends and family! Already starting to plan our next trip to Santa Fe.

Owner response:Dear Mr. & Mrs. G, I am so glad that you were comfortable in the casita and enjoyed your visit to Santa Fe. We would be pleased to have you return at any time. Roxanne

repeat stay at our favorite spot

My husband and I have stayed at the Casita de la Luna twice for three weeks at a time, and we cannot say enough good things about our experiences. The casita is beautifully maintained, artistically furnished and very comfortable. The patio is an ideal place to sip wine, nibble cheese and read after a strenuous day of sightseeing in Santa Fe. We hate to share this wonderful secret place with others! It is so convenient to everything one would want to do and see, and has the added benefit of returning one to the serene oasis of the casita at the end of the day. Perfect!!

Owner response:Mr. & Mrs. J, It is always a pleasure having you guys stay at the casita. You are wonderful guests. Hope you have a very pleasurable fall and winter. Roxanne

New Year's Stay

Guest: Texas Red (Lubbock, Texas)
Date of Stay: 12/27/10 Review Submitted: 01/04/11

My husband and I have just returned from this darling casita in Santa Fe. It was everything we'd hoped for: well located, warm, and well maintained. It looked just like the pictures. We met the owner, she was making sure everything was in order: fresh fruit, bread for breakfast, keys, etc. Very well located, not just to the plaza and downtown, but to the interstate, art galleries, 2 shopping malls with grocery, theatre and casual and fine dining. We had snow and freezing cold in the single digits, but we were warm and cozy. The pinion wood for the fireplace never ran out, it almost made things too warm with the other heater. The king size bed even had a heated blanket and fine quality sheets. Our week was over too quickly, we'll definitely return.

Owner response:Dear Mr. & Mrs. D - It was a pleasure to meet you. I very much appreciate you taking the time to post your comments. It is still quite cold here and I hope that you are a little warmer in Texas. We look forward to your next visit. Roxanne

Andy and Roxanne thought of everything to make our stay in Santa Fe our home away from home. The location was convenient as we were able to walk to the places we wanted to. They also provided fruit, milk, juice, cereal and a nice gift basket of goodies to help provide us with food to get us started on our stay. We definetly recommend this beautiful casita to our friends. We would stay there again

Owner response:Dear James and Pamela, I am glad that you enjoyed your stay at the casita. Thank you for taking the time to enter your comments on-line. I am sure that it will help others who are looking for a place to stay here in Santa Fe. Come again anytime! Roxanne

What a wonderful place: exactly like the photographs in every detail. Comfort and cleanliness and convenience are impossible to portray in small online pix, however, and Casita de la Luna scores at the top on all counts. The neighborhood, an early barrio in the Railyard district, is made up of interesting adobe residential compounds, edged by shopping and services. The private compound of which the Casita is part is close to pretty much everything you'd want to see in and around the Plaza. Highly, highly, highly recommended.

Owner response:Thanks a lot for taking the time to do this review. I hope you can come again some time. Roxanne

Casita de la Luna was a wonderful place to stay in Santa Fe this November. We came for some peace and quiet away to give thanks ahead of the holidays and found it. The casita was well stocked and furnished and even with the cooler than normal temperatures during part of our stay the casita was easy to heat up after having been out in the day. Near everything, you could walk to most things for the distance. I easily imagine visiting Santa Fe again and looking for availability in this casita.

Owner response:Many thanks for your remarks. It was a bit cold when you were here, however, tonight and tomorrow we are expecting a big snow storm. I imagine that you are happy to be back in Austin. Please come again any time. Roxanne

We recently spent one week in Santa Fe staying at Casita de la Luna. Upon entering the Casita, we knew we had chosen the right place to stay. The decor was so tasteful and comfortable and was such a nice place to return to after a day of exploring Santa Fe. The Casita had everything that we needed. What a nice surprise to find thoughtfully chosen foods for breakfast the first morning (no dashing off to the market first thing). Also included, a nice basket of fruit and another filled with local goodies - chocolate, cookies, coffee. The cleanliness and the comfortable furnishings really made the Casita feel like home away from home. The extra added bonus was that it was within walking distance of the plaza, railyard (which has a wonderful farmer's market)and more. We would love to return to Santa Fe again in the near future and would stay at Casita de la Luna for our next visit.

Owner response:Dear Kathy and Greg, I'm so happy that you were pleased with my efforts to try to make your accommodations comfortable. Thanks for your kind comments. Roxanne Connan

Casita del Sol (the companion casita to Casita del la Luna) is one of the finest places we have stayed in more than 35 years of traveling in the US and abroad. The property is delightful, with a private, well-maintained garden, and is meticulously maintained. The amenities and appointments are first rate, from the furnishings, to the bedding and linens, to the laundry facilities and the completely stocked kitchen, to the thoughtful and much appreciated complementary breakfast foods and Santa Fe snacks. Not a thing is overlooked. In this respect, the casita is without peer. We felt like we were housesitting for a friend rather than lodging at a public accommodation. On top of it all, there is not a better neighborhood to stay in all of Santa Fe. It was dead quiet at night; the only sound was the patter of rain on the roof. We kept wondering where the barks of the neighborhood dogs were--nothing! Plus, the casita is located a short stroll from the Sanbusco shopping district, the newly remodeled train yard complex and the plaza. The off-street parking is a most welcome addition. We've stayed in Santa Fe many times over nearly 20 years and this was our best experience yet. We commend for providing such a wonderful place at such reasonable prices. Certainly, this won't be our last visit.

Owner response:Dear Tom and Karen, Your kind comments mean so much to me. It is a real pleasure to own these casitas and interact with the people who stay there. Thank you for recognizing the efforts that I take to make this the best experience that I can for folks coming to visit Santa Fe. Come back soon! Roxanne

It was a delight to stay at Casita del Sol. Everything that you could want or need was provided by Roxanne. From the wonderful bread and cookies, to cereal, milk, fruit, coffee etc. The patio was aslo a wonderful extra. It is a great place for coffee in the morning, and relax with a glass of wine in the evening. It is an easy walk to downtown Santa Fe, and other restaurants in the area. It is nice to leave the car behind and walk this beautiful city. Also, having Sharon in Casita #1 to answer questions and give suggestions on what to see in New Mexico, and where to eat in Santa Fe was another plus. I would stay at Pena Place again, without a second thought. Thanx again, Roxanne!!!

Owner response:Dear Barb, Thanks for letting others know that you enjoyed your stay in our casita. I know it will be helpful to future guests. Come again soon! Roxanne

Casita de la Luna is the perfect place to stay if you want to be near the downtown plaza area. Several restaurants in less than a mile radius, and LOTS of shopping nearby! The casita itself had all the accommodations necessary for a comfortable, relaxing stay. Very comfortable bed and pillows! My partner and I appreciated the fully stocked kitchen cupboards and amenities. Highly recommended for couples looking for a quiet place to stay in a Santa Fe casita! Thanks for everything Roxanne!

The casita was terrific: quiet, comfortable, more spacious and homey than a hotel room and in a terrific location. The seeduction bread, jar of jam, fruit, milk, juice, tea bags and cereal provided breakfast for three days, so we never left the casita before 11 a.m. We walked to and from shows at the Lensic and the Santa Fe Playhouse; the Capitol, the plaza and Canyon Road; dessert at Cowgirls and La Choza; and lunch or dinner at Cafe Pasqual and the Shed. We recommend it as a great place for peace and quiet when you want it while close enough for any activity.

Owner response:Dear Mr. & Mrs. Kelly, It is really gratifying to know that you were able to relax and enjoy for a week. Hope you can bring those feelings back when you need them in your everyday world. Roxanne

To say our experience of “Casita De La Luna” was a little slice of heaven would be a tremendous understatement. I know why the swallows return yearly to San Juan Capistrano, it is the same reason why I return to Santa Fe year after year. It’s because of the haven we have found nestled in the heart of Santa Fe. After a long day of air travel, I get so excited knowing soon I will being seeing the “St. Francis” exit and know I am about to arrive at my home away from home. No matter what time of day you arrive at your casita when you open the door it welcomes you. In our casita our fireplace is set and ready to go. It has all the comforts of home and then some. My husband does not like to travel because he can never get comfortable in the beds provided at many places. Here he knows he is going to get that great night’s sleep. The bed is not too firm and not too soft. Within moments he is happily snoring into his king sized feather pillow. Roxanne Connan goes out of her way to make sure that while you are here, you feel relaxed, cozy and that this is truly your home away from home. We have come at many different times of the year. Fiesta in September is one of our favorites. No matter what time of year you visit there is always something going on or something to do. I loved the basket of information that is organized for each visitor. Everything you may want to see or visit is right there at your fingertip. We love to look at the 100 plus year old homes on the way to the Plaza. Half a block away Borders is in the San Busco shopping center, or in the casita bedroom there are books from many well known authors to enjoy in the garden. We really didn’t need our car to see a lot of Santa Fe. Time seems to stand still here and one tends to appreciate the value of a stroll. I could go on and on about Pena Place forever. Instead I will just get my reservation in for next year. I don’t want to miss out on yet another vacation made perfect by starting with a casita at Pena Place! Thank you Roxanne Connan for the time and effort you put in to making our stay unforgettable year after year!!

Owner response:Dear Terri Lynne and Dal: Many thanks for your kind comments. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay. It would be our pleasure to have you return at any time in the future. Roxanne

You could easily stay here and never need your car. We too hope someday to be able to return to Casa de la Luna.

The place was all we could ask for plus some. The little things that were there; breakfast for your first day, organic good products, firewood, information on what to do, friendly neighbors, clean sheets and bathtubs, etc. The plaza was a perfect walk away-just enough to get warm. Everything was beyond expectation. I would recommend this place for people of all tastes- you will be happy.

What a delightful casita! We walked in the door and there was the wood and starter all ready to light in the kiva fireplace, just one of the many thoughtful touches provided by the owners. And there were directions for building a lasting fire. There were fresh food gifts, maps, directions and comments on restaurants, shopping, sightseeing. But the most pleasant unexpected surprise of all was hopping out of bed that first morning onto a WARM floor--I padded around in bare feet, luxuriating on the radiantly-heated floor. We walked to the Plaza, Tomasita's and other restaurants, and in general had an absolutely wonderful time. We'll be back.

Owner response:Dear Mr. & Mrs. Lane, Many thanks for taking the time to add your comments. You know from doing your own search for a vacation rental in Santa Fe that the comments really help reassure those who are looking. Kind regards, Roxanne

ANOTHER GREAT VISIT TO CASITA DEL SOL RTHLTN Charleston, SC. Date Submitted: August 30, 2007 Date of Stay: July 2007 This was my second visit to Casita Del Sol in six months. My first visit was 10 days in December 2006. After that I fell in love with both Santa Fe and the casita and returned for two months in July and August 2007. All amenities were so complete, all I needed for my visit was my clothing. Especially wecoming are all the fixings for a continental breakfast the first morning. I enjoyed a new private back patio for my breakfast each morning, as well as a shady, beautifully landscaped front patio for reading and relaxing. The location is perfect...an easy walk to both the main Plaza, as well as to the new Railyard Complex , the venue for several major antique and art shows, as well as the location of many interesting shops and restaurants. I definitely recommend the Casita for either a short visit or lengthier one. I hope to return again!

Casita del Sol, It's a Winner JennyinSanFrancisco San Francisco, CA. Date Submitted: July 16, 2007 Date of Stay: August 2006 I've stayed at the Casita del Sol many times while on an annual vacation to Santa Fe. The description and photos of the property are absolutely accurate and you will not be disappointed if you make this your destination. It is so conveniently located to downtown Santa Fe, museums and the Guadalupe District. When you enter the gate to the courtyard, you immediately feel you've arrived in a quiet, secluded sanctuary. The property is located at the end of a quiet, dead end lane and it is absolutely quiet. Roxanne, property owner, does everything to make you feel at home. The furnishings in the casita are beautiful. The kiva, vigas, floors and adobe walls have been beautifully maintained and all other appointments are lovely. And, the place is spotless! The kitchen is well equipped and you have everything you need to cook in, if you wish. Roxanne welcomes all guests by providing milk, juice, fresh fruit, bread and a sweet treat to get your stay started. The cd/dvd, washer/dryer, internet access and other amenities described make it easy to never leave the casita. The courtyard with its lovely water fountain, bistro tables and lovely benches, is a wonderful place to enjoy breakfast or glass of wine. Roxanne has done everything to make this a truly special place. She is also very responsive if you need anything. Once I found this casita, I stopped looking and have returned every year for the past several years. It's an exceptionally quiet, charming, authentic casita in a great neighborhood. You will not be disappointed. It deserves a 10 star rating!

Date Submitted: July 10, 2007 Date of Stay: May 2007 This was our 3rd visit to Santa Fe and we have always stayed in wonderful casitas, but Casita del Sol goes to the head of the class. Every detail has been addressed, and what you see in the description and pictures of this website only gives you part of the picture. We arrived too late to get breakfast items for the next morning;not to worry, Roxanne had made sure that we would have our morning goodies the next day. The decor is more than charming and feels cozy and warm like home. The location is perfect to walking everywhere, but also on a quiet culdesac street. I could go on and on, but just want to say we look forward to our next visit and staying at Casita del Sol

The fully equiped kitchen, comfortable bedding, proximity to the plaza, shopping and restaurants, and the beautiful landscaping in the patio are all part of what made the property so appealing. There is an additional small table and chairs in the back of the casita that I often used for morning coffee and the newspaper. It's an authentic adobe at a reasonable price.

Secluded, Charming Casita JennyinSanFrancisco San Francisco, CA. Date Submitted: July 16, 2007 Date of Stay: August 2006 I've stayed at both casitas on the property on Pena Place for several years. I stopped looking for any other place to stay after finding Pena Place. The property is at the end of a quiet street in the lovely Guadalupe District. The casita is absolutely charming, and Roxanne, property owner, does a superb job of making it feel like home away from home. The vigas, floors, adobe walls and kiva are beautiful. The kitchen is well appointed with everything you need, if you want to cook in. When you arrive, you'll find a bag of goodies to get you started on your vacation (milk, juice, fresh fruit, bread and always a sweet treat!). The quiet courtyard is beautiful and secluded, with only the sounds of a water fountain. The landscaping is beautiful and the property is immaculate and exceptionally clean. Internet access, CD player, DVD/Video and washer/dryer, make it very easy to never leave the property. The neighborhood is great and you're just a pleasant 10 minute walk to downtown SF and less than that to great shops and restaurants in the Guadalupe District. Roxanne is responsive and will follow up immediately if you run into any problems. Each year that I've returned, she's added some new touch to the property to make it even more special. It is a very special, wonderful retreat!! Not to be missed.

Date Submitted: December 12, 2007 Date of Stay: December 2007 First of all - the place is so charming, even more so that the pictures can capture...The owner's have a wonderful sense of style and aestetic, the description is very accurate, but the reality is even more impressive. Walking distance to the Plaza and restaurants and galleries... My friends and I were particularly impressed with the owner's attention to detail - they thought of everything!! First off it is very clean and you will find all the comforts of home (and probably even more!)... From the kitchen supplies (including some breakfast food to get us started!)... to the linens, to the CDs and books (just in case!)... I can't say enough about it... We love it!!!
