Alta Vista's main house sleeps 10, and the guest house (rented separately to main house guests only) sleeps an additional 4 persons. Alta Vista is a relaxed getaway in Sonoma County, and a perfect home base for enjoying the Wine Country. When at the property, it feels as if you are at a remote retreat. However, unlike other vacation homes in Sonoma County which require a 20 minute drive to any civilization, Alta Vista is very conveniently located. Situated on a hilltop in the most desirable part of Santa Rosa, Montecito Heights, it has all the privacy of a country home but is only a ten minute drive to groceries, local spas, the farmers' market & restaurants. Alta Vista is a 20 minute drive either north to Healdsburg, north east to Calistoga or east to Kenwood - all wonderful Wine Country towns with excellent restaurants and shopping. A five minute drive up the mountain from where Highway 12 and Farmer’s Lane meet in Santa Rosa brings you to this excellent vacation property.

Alta Vista's bright, comfortable, main house has five bedrooms and sleeps 10. On the lower level is a large kitchen with island and new gas range, bright breakfast room, dining room, large living room, all with views of the garden, pool area or trees. There is a bathroom on this level. Outside the kitchen double glass doors is an outdoor dining area with a 12 foot long redwood table (from a local, old growth restoration forestry concern) that can comfortably seat 15 people.
The second level offers a very large master bedroom with a queen size bed, three additional bedrooms with queen size beds, one more bedroom with two twin beds, a master bathroom and two full additional bathrooms. Four out of five of the bedrooms have all new furniture & bedding. All of the bedrooms have two separate doors, one to the interior of the home, and another which provides easy access to the garden, pool and grounds.
Set amid the garden is a large, in ground, solar heated pool as well as a spa (the spa is usually operational). This has to be one of the best pools in Sonoma County - not only for its size and garden setting - but because it has a high end spa quality salt-chlorine generation system which is an ultra clean, natural system which results in fresh water that does not irritate eyes. The solar heating for the pool is available from May 1 through October 31, as the solar thermal tubes need to be drained in case temperatures drop low during winter months.
The property's separate guest house is available for larger parties, and sleeps an additional 4 persons. The guest house has a spacious living room with 2 large walls of 10 foot tall windows looking out to trees, and sliding glass doors out to the pool. There is a small kitchen equipped with a stove, sink, & dishwasher, and the bathroom has a large shower, sink, & toilet - all new. There is a separate bedroom with a queen size bed. The guest house is available for an additional fee, for parties of 11 to 15 persons, and is only rented to parties renting the main house.
Begin your morning enjoying a hot coffee or tea in the garden by the pool, planning out your day. Spend the day enjoying the property, exploring the wine country's charming towns & plazas, hiking or mountain biking through forests with excellent trails at nearby Annadel State Park, paddle boating or canoeing at Spring Lake, winery & vineyard touring, horseback riding or gourmet lunching. Indulge in an evening swim and take in a spectacular sunset through the silhouettes of trees surrounding the property.
The central location of Alta Vista is ideal for day excursions to all of Sonoma Valley and Napa Valley, whether for wine tasting or outdoor sports. A quick drive to Highway 101, and you can be on your way to spend the day or evening in San Francisco.
