WOW! What a fabulous vacation home away from home. We spent 6 weeks this summer at The Sherwood House and thought we were in heaven! We had more than enough room for our family and friends to come and go. We loved being in the woods, sitting in the hot tub, and hiking around the area. Breckenridge is only 5 minutes away and has lots of great dining spots. Katy's brother, Joel, lives next door to The Sherwood House and was also a dream come true. He was so helpful with any maintenance issues. Our vacation was so wonderful that we have rented The Sherwood House again for 6 weeks the summer of 2008!Did you find this review helpful? Had a great time staying at the Red Mountain lodge this past weekend. Had a group of 13 and everybody raved about the house. Each person slept comfortably and we enjoyed the deck with grill and hot tub. We all enjoyed the house immensely during the "off season" and I can only imagine that it gets better when there is snow on the ground and skis on the mountains. Highly, highly recommended for a hassle-free Breckenridge get away.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This place is fantastic. It's exactly as promised in the description. An especially nice touch was the great wireless internet on property, this really helped out one person in our party who unexpectedly had to hop on the internet to do some work. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and pristine. The kitchen is great for large groups. The large screen HDTV was fantastic for watching the Euro 2012 and MLB games in HD. The hot tub and grill were flawless as well. This place is a really short drive from Breck. I would absolutely stay here again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Sherwood House was a great place for our gathering of 2 families for a ski trip to Colorado. The house is spacious, open and very conducive to family dinners and relaxation after a day of skiing. The location is perfect, close to a number of ski slopes and Breckenridge, yet has privacy and quiet at the house. The hot tub was a big hit, especially the view of Red Mountain peak in the background and the stars at night. The Dixons were very friendly, accommodating and attentive, thank you! We had a wonderful time and hope to return to Sherwood House in the future.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We have a group of eight ladies that love to come up to Sherwood House every April/May for our retreat. We have come to think of Sherwood House as our second home - our home away from home. We enjoy our time together so much, but being in this beautiful home makes it so extra special. We've tried other places, but always seem to come back to Sherwood House. This year will be our 5th year staying here. We have all decided that this is the place we want to stay every year from now on.Owner response: Gail, I'm glad you and your group enjoyed the Sherwood house. I know your review is 2 years old but I am just learning abou all the added features of our listing on vrbo and wanted to try out the "response" feature. Thanks for staying at the Sherwood House Steve Dixon Partner, Colorado Adventure Group, LLP

My wife and I rented the Sherwood House and brought along our two Golden Retrievers. We were really pleased that the Dixons welcomed our dogs - Breckenridge is a great place for a vacation with the canines. We were thrilled with how spacious, comfortable and well-maintained the house was - we almost don't want to tell anyone so we can keep it to ourselves! This would be a great place for a few couples to share. We thoroughly enjoyed it.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Look no further! This is it. I spent quite a bit of time searching for the perfect house to host a girls weekend for a friend who will be getting married this Fall -- we could not have been happier with the results. Beautiful location - close to town but not too close. The Dixons were wonderful to work with - even providing insider tips on nearby hikes. I highly recommend this property.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: Three Dixon brothers own and built this home in 1997. We spent our childhood living in Wisconsin and made Family trips to the Rocky Mountians every winter to ski. This home was built to continue the tradition of allowing our families to continue that tradition. Steve and his wife Katy reside in Michigan with his family of 3 children. Phil and his wife Janelle reside in Minnesota with his family of 2 children and Joel has been a 25 year resident of Breckenridge and lives with his wife Jill and new born child in a nearby neighborhood to this wounderful vacation home.
Why the Owner Chose Blue River:
Our decision to build this home needed to start with the location. Our requirements were a lot that was close and convenient to town yet offered peace and quite from the crowds of the ski resort. Mountian views and easy access to all the activitys that the area has to offer in both summer and winter were also a must. We found our lot in Blue River and construction started. Our building plans started with the need to comfortably sleep all of our families. We wanted to spare no expence in creating a vacation home that was as comfortable as our own homes. For this reason, we designed all the bedrooms to accomidate King sized beds. We also wanted a warm and comfortable environment, so we designed it to have large open spaces with two fireplaces and radient in-floor heat.
