Perfect place for couple or large family!

We rented this home in November for our 15 yr wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time. The owner was prompt and friendly when answering several email questions we had before deciding to rent. The home is positioned well on the property to enjoy the beautiful water and sunrise. The pool was warm - heated as it said it would. There are some pool floaties and life jackets available. There is a tiki hut/bar stool/table area with very sturdy chairs and lounge chairs for enjoying a cup of coffee, or a drink. The property is 2 secluded, well manicured acres with palm trees and tropical plants which added to the overall experience and made it all the more peaceful and quiet. The property manager was nearby in case we needed anything and we met him when he came to mow. He was friendly, pleasant and non-evasive, came to mow, asked us how the stay was so far and if we needed anything or had any questions, got in, mowed and left. The home is well stocked with all the needed items from pots/pans, spices to cook with, to towels for the pool. The screened in porch connects to the living room with wide sliding doors that open to let in the breeze in from the water. The home has nice speaker system with a dial so you can also enjoy the music outside by the pool. The master bedroom in the main house (property also has nice guest house if you have large family get together) is on the opposit side from the large bedroom with 2 queen beds, and mattress very comfortable. There is an outdoor shower, private dock you can fish off of, kayacks, and bicycles for additional things to do. The home is about a 25-30 minute drive from Key West so close, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the tourists. If we stay in the Keys again, we would rent this place again w/o looking at any others. A little pricey for us, but so glad we splurged as it was well worth it. We also had a late flight and although check out time is 10 AM the home owner was gracious and let us stay a later into the afternoon. Overall experience in renting, staying and getting deposit back was excellent.

We stayed at the Powell home on our vacation in June 2011. WOW!!! it was definately more than we expected. From the accommadations to the view everything was MORE than we expected. My husband and children enjoyed the Guest house while our very dear friends took the main house. As Lea said, it made going home hard. Thank you for opening your home to us. We really enjoyed ourselves and would likely return. God Bless

We have traveled all over the country and stayed in many types of resorts and timeshares. My husband is 46, I am 39, my sons are 14 and 11. We stayed in the Powell home with another couple and 5 additional children between the ages of 14-17. Every single one of us has agreed that this was one of the most amazing experiences we have ever had. We have all been to the Keys before on several occasions. It was The Powell House that upgraded our memories of The Keys from Wonderful to Exceptional and Unforgettable. Our children daily walked out the porch doors and snorkeled or Kayaked right behind the house. Then, they would take a nice relaxing hot shower outside and slip into the refreshing pool. They even had space to play football and tag games in the front yard. The kids and Dads caught large fish off the docks everynight. This is the first time I can truly remember not wanting to leave and furthermore, missing The Powell home when I returned to my very large and nice home in Fort Myers. It is hard to put into words what I am trying to express, I suppose that for the very reasonable rates that The Powell house was asking, I wasn't sure if it was going to be as nice and accomidating as some of the other properties that were being offered at higher rates. I am certain that I was wrong. My husband and I agreed that this is the home that if we ever were in the market to buy an estate like this and it was for sale..we wouldn't even bother looking at any other homes. Honestly Fantastic.

Perfect spot and wonderful place

If you're looking for a place to stay in the Keys, then this is the place! We have stayed here twice now and would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a relaxing and yet adventurous vacation. The home sits on the ocean with a dock that has a fish cleaning station w/running water. You can snorkel and fish right off the dock. We rent a boat each time and the boat rental will drop the boat off at the dock and you're ready to go. Take the boat to great fishing spots and snorkeling are all 5 minutes from the house. When your done come back and enjoy the heated pool w/volleyball and basketball. Home is surrounded by water on 2 sides and has a gated fence in the front. Very private and relaxing.

We stayed here Easter 2005 and are booked for 2006. It is in a very quiet spot, so peaceful! The kids enjoyed the sand area and we ALL enjoyed the dock and the wonderful, large pool. We enjoyed all the amenities of using the Powell's wonderful home. We did a lot of crabbing around the dock, plus fishing (not so much luck), watching the fish around the dock (even a very large barracuda!). There are many great restaurants with a 5-15 minute drive. With the kids, it was wonderful having the washer & dryer. We'll be back!

The Keys are always a wonderful place to visit. The Powell House made our stay more enjoyable than other visits we've had to the keys. The kids swam in the pool, snorkeled at the dock, fished in the canal, ran the big yard, played in the sand, and napped in the hammock. All that and Wow, what a view, morning, noon and night....

HI, I am the owner, diane powell. I only added this site this past month...may 04. We have plenty of comments in the guest book I leave at the house. But, I'm not sure many people will use this after they have left. Mostly, people have commented on how much fun they have had and that they want to return. I have had a few comments on how much nicer our place is in person. The pool is a big hit. I really haven't had any negative comments. diane powell
