When was the last time you saw thousand of stars in the night sky? We are off the beaten path just enough that you can see them here on a clear night. Just imagine watching them dance lazily across the southern sky while the salt air of the Gulf of Mexico breezes through your hair as you relax on the screen porch or melt away the day's activities in the hot tub.
We chose this condo because it's not like rest, it's not like the typical tall condominium that is covered in asphalt and concrete. The Rookery is nestled in the scrubby palmetto woods of the Alabama Gulf Coast, with tall pines dotting the short landscape so that the afternoon and evening breezes can gently whisper through them, bringing perfect endings to perfect days.
It reminded us of the not too distant past of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach when fish camps dotted the landscape where people would stay to enjoy the Gulf's catch. There's not too many places like this left. There's no asphalt to burn your feet on a hot day, just a wooden walkway that runs alongside a little bayou to get to our condo. Who knows, you just might see a big Blue Heron wading for his lunch, or a turtle sunning himself on the bank. There might also be a wild Guinea Hen or geese cruising through the parking lot. They get close enough for the kids to chase them around if they want. Don't worry, they're not much bigger than a chicken.

Myself, wife and 10 year old son enjoyed our stay at Jackie's place. The pool was perfect along with the short walk to it. This place is just NEAT. As Jackie opened the door to show us the condo/cottage my breath was taken away by the elegance and enormous size. It was definitely overkill for three people. One issue I have is Jackie's online pictures are nothing compared to the real deal. You must see it! The unit was clean, so clean and tidy it appears the unit was built this spring. I recommend this to anyone wanting to get away for some peace and quiet. Heck, I recommend it to anyone period! While there is beach access within a quarter mile it is only 15 to 20 minutes to Gulf Shores/Orange Beach. There is also a store within a half mile. If you like riding a bike, bring it! The area is perfect. We will be staying again.

We stayed here for two months and here is what we know: The condo is an amazing home away from home for the value It is very well decorated, spacious, meticulously clean, well equipped with everything you need. The grounds are amazing , the pools, the tennis courts, the picinic area and the natural beauty. The beach is a close walk and is not over crowded. The condo is serene, off the beaten path but a short-easy drive into town if you want the gulf shores "hustle and bustle". Stop at the market in town, buy your groceries and you can actually never have to get in your car because although off the beaten path , everything you need is right here. There are a couple good restaurants close that are good. We were amazed at the quality of this property for the cost The owners are amazing people who go above and beyond to take care of their rental and their guest. This "home" is great for family's and just a group of freinds. Without a doubt we saw many places during a 2 month stay and were able to compare this to many places as well as hearing about owner experiences with other rentors and by far this takes top marks. Jackie and Lee , thanks for sharing your "paradise" and making everything so great. You have certainly put your heart and soul into making this exceed expecations!

My family of three, thoroughly enjoyed our trip last weekend. Jackie makes the condo feel like home to her tenants. Even down to the towels having a wonderful fragrance & feeling soft. Her directions were accurate. The condo is obviously well taken care of. She was so kind to meet us upon arrival. The directions to beach access were very helpful. It was a wonderful stay. The whole area at The Rookery was private and most enjoyable. The beach was beautiful! We highly recommend this condo! We even hope to make another trip there this summer.

This house/condo was great! Very clean, very bright, very cozy. Looks just like the pictures posted--described very accurately. The owner was extremely helpful and a pleasure to deal with. We had a GREAT time!!! I would definitely recommend this property, and I would love go to back. Great value...

What impress me the most about this property was the owner; she was very friendly, always available to answer any questions and most importantly she had a very pleasant attitude. When we arrived she was there and made sure everything was o.k. The condominum was very clean and you could tell that a lot of time and effort was put into making it feel like a home away from home. My husband, our three boys(14, 8, 6) and I really enjoyed our stay. It was quiet and very relaxing and the kids enjoyed the fact that they could swim, play, take nature walks and play tennis. We were about 15 -20 minutes away from the outlet mall, Waterville theme park, movie theater, restaurants, and the beach is about a mile away. Overall, I would recommend this property to anyone. This was one of the most enjoyable vacations ever. Thanks Mrs. Jackie for everything.
