We have owned a unit in the Del Mar Beach Club since 1977, however this is the best.

This townhouse is one of only three in its complex with tremendous ocean views. The unit has two assigned spaces in the underground parking garage which is gated and very secure. The master bedroom shares a deck and upstairs bath with the second bedroom of two twin beds that we pushed together for another king. The loft area would be fun for little ones, but I think big people might get a little claustrophobic. There is a spiral staircase leading from the ground to second floors. We stayed with six people, putting two on the inflatable mattresses on site. Beach toys and chairs, cute towels, area guides, and a well-stocked kitchen are highlights of this property. It seems each renter leaves some little "improvement" which is fun. The property has private beach access - a gate with a code, down many steps. About half-way down is a wonderful lounging area with deck chairs. We spent a magical evening watching blue whales spout in the distance. In the morning you can see dolphins just past the boogie boarders, and flying fish on the waves. The unit has a Weber Q. We cooked ribs and entertained a party of 14 very close friends. We spilled-out onto the lawn, but since we were done early, neighbors didn't have an issue. The little BBQ was a champ. The only downsides were we couldn't find the blender top (one of the pan lids works great,) and you have to be diligent about keeping the kitchen clean or those wonderful little California sugar ants will move in. The spiral staircase makes the second floor inaccesible to anyone handicapped. Some may find the decor dated, and there are cosmetic repairs that could be done, but I'm not one to talk! We stopped at Costco off I-15 on the way in to stock-up (about 12 miles away.) There is an Albertsons nearby. Bangkok Bay Thai is within walking distance and truly superb. On Sunday do the Farmer's Market on Cedros Avenue, which is also home to some fine shopping. Check-out Leaping Lotus. It is a quirky crafty place where lots of artists have kiosks. Pizza Port is a long but enjoyable walk and sports some fine brews. The Coaster and Amtrack are very convenient. In all, we had a most enjoyable trip. This property's location is ideal. We walked everywhere we needed to go. The sunsets and walks along the beach were awesome. This is a great spot to relax and unwind in an clean airy environment. I would definitely rent this place again.
