We did not stay at this location - instead rented one of Historic Hawthorne's other offerings. We found everything as promised. The studio was very comfortable. We did have a need while we were staying in the studio and it was promptly taken care of by Mike and Clare. They welcomed any communication from us. We will return to both Portland and Historic Hawthorne Rentals. The location of these rentals is in a lovely part of Southeast Portland. On Sunday when downtown Portland was essentially closed the Hawthorne neighborhood was very much alive. Close by grocery stores make walking to pick up groceries easy. During our entire stay in Portland we utilized public transportation taking the #75 bus line to the Hollywood rail station. On the nice weather days we walked the distance from our studio to the Hollywood Station and back.

We enjoyed our time at the Garden Cottage immensely. The peaceful setting and privacy were a welcome respite from the busy holiday activities. Our goldendoodle Max made himself right at home and we enjoyed having the enclosed yard so he could wander freely. The cottage was quaint, clean and well appointed. We will surely be in touch with Historic Hawthorne Rentals for our next visit to Portland

The studio is cozy and in a great location. We are vegan and found lots of places to eat in the SE and SW neighborhoods within a short walk/drive - the Fred Meyer grocery is close too....walkable. We enjoyed seeing all of the beautiful houses and gardens in the neighborhood. We took lots of walks around. It's an easy drive to downtown too. The rental was clean. It would have been nice to have napkins and paper towels in the rental for clean up, and some kind of saran wrap for covering leftovers. The dryer is in an odd location, just let renters know about that in advance, because I could not find it! The bed was also cool but close to the ceiling, it felt a little cramped but maybe we just are not used to it. Being short, the shower head did not give me a whole lot of water pressure by the time it trickled down to my height but it wasn't a big deal. Thanks for sharing your studio, we had a great time!

Wonderful studio. Bus line just down the street, so many shops and restaurants within walking distance. Felt very safe while walking the neighborhood. The patio/garden area just beautiful, wonderful spot for a cup of good coffee. Would definitely stay her again.

My family and I really enjoyed staying in the Garden Cottage! It is in a great location in Southeast PDX, close to Belmont Ave and the shops on Hawthorne, both walking distance, and a playground was less than a block away. The cottage is small but cozy, with everything that one would need for a comfortable stay, and very private from the main house. As a former resident of Portland, I love this neighborhood and would recommend this rental over a hotel downtown any day!

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Garden Studio. We spent a lot of time exploring the neighborhood, and were able to quickly walk to shops and restaurants on Hawthorne and Belmont streets, as well as Laurelhurst Park. The rest of the city is easily accessible as well via car or public transportation. The studio itself was quiet, cozy, and pleasant. We would definitely stay again.

I loved staying in the Garden Cottage--it's peaceful and cozy, and the wonderful bamboo, patio, skylight and stained glass windows give it lots of charm. Great location too!

I was contemplating a move to Portland and spent my weeklong stay trying the city on for size. The garden studio was a comfortable, conveniently located and well-appointed home base for exploring all that Portland has to offer and I would definitely stay there again.

Such a cozy retreat! It's tempting just to lounge about and contemplate the bamboo and while foolishly ignoring that great neighborhood and city right outside the gate. Find balance: do both.

We stayed in this delightful cottage for 10 days and had a wonderful time. It was a great place to cook dinner and enjoy a good meal on the ample (covered! - important for Portland) patio space, and it was an easy walk and/or bus ride to restaurants, cafes, shops and city life. Chris and Shelley have taken extraordinary care to make this a home away from home, and have succeeded!

We had a wonderful stay at the Garden Studio. The location couldn't be more perfect - blocks to Hawthorne, Belmont streets - both which have great stores and resturants. The studio itself is so cute, decorated well, charming, quiet. It was just perfect. Every amenity you could want is available. It was just charming - I will definately be back.
