Port Clyde cottage description
NOTE: SEE A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION AND MANY MORE PHOTOS AT THE WEB SITE LINKED BELOW.
Romantic ocean view cottage on over an acre of land across a small country road from the Drift Inn Beach - sandy and good swimming. Sweeping views to the south out to Brothers Island and the open Atlantic. Front yard graced with maples, fragrant firs, and a path that winds to the beach only 150 feet away.
10-15 minute walk into Port Clyde's restaurants and galleries (less than a mile). Buy your lobsters directly from the lobstermen themselves. Ferry to Monhegan Island (departing from Port Clyde) makes a great day trip.
New (built in 2000) cedar-shingled house. Interior is sunny and light, crafted from wood throughout, with contemporary furnishings. Front porch with hammock, deck chairs and Atlantic views. Play croquet on our seaview lawn or bocce in our wooodland glade.
Enter from the back of the house into open great room with beechwood floors and ocean views. Well-equipped kitchen off entry door. Small sea view "relaxing" nook to left of great room. First-floor bedroom with double bed and full bath (T/S).
Up the carpeted stairway to master (queen-size) and new luxury bath with tiled shower. Small "morning" balcony and computer nook with internet access. Go up a few steps to the sea view cupola/study with a desk and a futon. This is good sleeping for anyone who wants to be lulled to sleep by the sound of lapping waves. Note: no door on cupola, therefore, not an enclosed room.
Included is a separate 14x20 rustic bunk house with an ocean view, a cheery wood stove and twin beds. Kids love it!

Great house. Setting was beautiful, both property itself and one of the rare beaches in the area directly across small access road. Great views of sea from house and property. Furnishings in the house, including the owner/artist's works, were also a wonderful addition. Owner was very easy to work with to make arrangements. Area was exactly what we were looking for. A relatively quiet, non-touristy area that still had a few shops/restaurants nearby. Also good launching point to nearby points of interest --- Rockland (about 20-25 min), Camden (1 hour), Boothbay Harbor (a bit over an hour). Definitely would stay there again if we're lucky enough to make it back.

Beautiful cottage, expansive views, and Sandy beach! Great location if you are looking for a peaceful vacation and want to experience Maine without the crowds. Spent a wonderful week with my wife and four children and didn't want to leave! Port Clyde, Marshall Point Lighthouse, Monhegan Island....so much to see and do in this beautiful area of Maine. The photos of the house do not do it justice. I will certainly recommend to family and friends. Our only complaint is that our time went by so quickly!

All the comforts of home and more.
All the comforts of home and more.
Upon walking into this wonderful cottage, it was everything we dreamed of and more. Not only steps from the ocean, it is also a gallery of the owners beautiful artwork. The landscape of the property also reflects his love of the land and his skill at gardening. The entire property breathed of relaxation and contentment. We felt all the stress of life disappear. The house boasts all the comforts of home from every imaginable appliance to linens, spices, in home surround sound and hundreds of CD's. In the kitchen we found a very helpful binder full of suggestions for activities in the area including great places to eat. If you want to stay away from the hustle and bustle that some "touristy" areas have, then this is your cottage. If you would like to immerse yourself in Maine culture, then this is the area for you. In the small town of Port Clyde we found the residents nothing but pleasant and welcoming. They enjoy telling their stories of life in Maine. We were in within walking distance of delicious eateries, small stores, galleries and a picturesque lighthouse. We hope to return yearly.
