Top Location - Dupont Circle Luxury - Walk to the White House

Year Purchased: 2003

Why the Owner Chose Washington

Situated in the heart of the city is the tony neighborhood of DuPont Circle. Located in a section of Washington called "Old City", DuPont Circle is a traffic circle, neighborhood, and historic district. A number of historic homes can be found throughout the area, including the post-presidential residence of Woodrow Wilson. DuPont Circle is a known destination for fine dining and entertainment.

This cosmopolitan neighborhood includes an eclectic collection of shops and trendy restaurants that draw visitors young and old. Originally populated by Washington's old money and nouveau riche, DuPont Circle is now home to artists, intellectuals, and young professionals. Turn-of-the-century mansions and brownstones—once home to some the city's most prominent families—now house some of the nation's finest art museums, hippest restaurants, quirky shops, and foreign embassies. It is also home to the Phillips Collection, one of the city's foremost art museums featuring paintings by Renoir, Degas, Cezanne, Picasso, and others.

The Unique Benefits at this Condominium

The proximity to the National Mall, White House and all of downtown is just unmatched in this apartment. On the weekend, DuPont Circle has one of the largest organic farmers' markets in the city. This neighborhood is accessible by foot or cab and is on Metro's Red line. WalkScore rates our unit and the surrounding neighborhood a walkability rating of 98 out of 100 - so as perfect as one can get.

Owner's Map of Washington

We are family owned and operated. From the left meet Kate and Jarek (sister and brother) and our mom Dana.

We have lived in Washington for over ten years and love this cosmopolitan city where people get up every morning and get to work on changing the world. The most powerful people in DC can alter the course of history and try to make the world a better place. It's a city where philosophical debate and advocacy of issues beyond one's own family or pocketbook rule the day; a city where what's going on in one's head is far more important than what one is wearing; a city where people come from all over the world to experience democracy and learn the principles of our free society.

We get visitors from all over the country and the world. Some come for one time visit with their family, others keep coming back number of times a year as we host many repeat guests related to the federal government, foreign embassies and the US State Department. We take great pride in having our unit very clean (our mom cleans it, so you know it’s spotless), conveniently located within walking distance to all shopping, restaurants and Metro.

We want you to enjoy your visit whether it is once in a lifetime trip with your family or monthly visit for work. We are looking forward to hosting you in DC and if there is something we can help with, let us know.

Kate, Dana, Jarek

    • Jared and Kate - we just enjoyed 4 days in your lovely condo on DuPont Circle - we LOVED it! The beds were the most comfortable, the showers were incredible, the location was great for the metro and great dining. You have really done an outstanding job of renovating this condo with very high end equipment and quality materials. Only comment we have is we don't think you need to provide a computer - just tell people to bring their laptops because your wifi in great. Look forward to visiting DC again and staying in your condo.

    • We stayed at Jerek and Kate's rental for six days and it was delightful. There wasn't anything we needed that wasn't provided and the neighborhood was charming. The unit had great Metro access and after long days we loved the local resturants. We can't wait to go back again.

    • We stayed in the lower unit on Swann Street for one week from 9/29/09 to 10/6/09 and it was lovely. Very nice and clean, modern but not at all cold or unwelcoming, and excellent location (good for neighborhood, but also very good commuting via Red Line at DuPont Circle AND the S2 and S4 bus lines up and down 16th Street). This apartment was much nicer than where we spent our last two nights in DC after staying here, the Swann House B&B on 18th and Swann. Don't get us wrong, Swann House B&B is nice, but you get sooooooo much more for the money by renting this apartment. Wished we'd booked our whole trip here. It was safe and fun and comfortable. We really appreciated the great showers (you have to love a shower with outstanding water pressure!) and the bed was comfortable and made resting up between long days of walking DC a guarantee. Thanks to Jarek and Kate and their family for such a good rental. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

    • Thank you so much for your hospitality. Your home was perfect for our family of 5. It was clean and well equipped with everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable after long days of walking. We appreciated your advice on restaurants, transportation, etc. It was an easy walk to the metro and we walked to the White House a couple days. The surrounding area had alot to offer as well. We will definitely recommend your place to friends. Thanks again!

    • We loved the unit and the neighborhood. We would definitely recommend this place and will recommend you to our friends. Thank you for your hospitality. PS The Walk to the White House was perfect for us ... the walk from the Lincoln Memorial after the fireworks was long :-)

    • Dear Jarek and Kate, We very much enjoyed our week at your place. We found the accomidations to be perfect. It is in a lovely area and close to two metro lines. We really appreciated your recommendations for resturants and places to be sure not to miss. (the Old Post Office was great) Should we find ourselves in DC again, we will certainly check with you first. Thanks again,

    • Thank you Jarek and Kate for your hospitality. We had wonderful time in DC and appreciate your help as well as all the information you provided. We loved your apartment and enjoyed the many restaurants in the area. The Old Post Office was a huge success with the kids and we gave up on the Washington Monument after learning about it from Jarek. We all used Metro and the Metro Bus but walking was just so easy that we walked perhaps hundred miles over the one weeks we spent here. Again, thank you for hosting us. You all have a beautiful house and have done great things with it. Suzanne and Travis D.

    • We really loved this place. Location was ideal for walking around and exploring the city. The neighborhood of Dupont Circle was full of life and we found it very energizing. The apartment was very nicely furnished, very modern and spotless when we arrived. It has small patio which we enjoyed while having our glass of wine at night and we found the grill and used it couple of times. Great place in great location and the owners were super nice and full of ideas of what to see and where to eat.

    • Lovely apartment - very appealing atmosphere. Great location. Incredibly comfortable beds. Only downfalls: internet was extremely unreliable (only worked about 10% of the time), washer and dryer were advertised but were not there for our entire week's stay (a real disappointment - owner said they stopped working last week and he was in process of having them replaced) and no outdoor grill (as was advertised).

      Homeowner Response:
Jeanette - thank you for your feedback. Indeed our washer and dryer stopped working right before your arrival and we are waiting for replacement and as it turns out, the units are on back order. As for the grill, I wish you mentioned that you wanted to use it as it is stored under the stairs for winter and we would have set it up for you. I am sorry to hear about the Internet and that it gave you troubles. Our service is provided by Comcast and there are service interruptions time to time. I am not sure why it only worked 10% of the time as it is connected to our cable TV which means, the TV wouldn't work either. Perhaps, it had some reliability issues for which we apologize.

    • We spent the Christmas holiday here and the place was the present! Everything was cozy and clean. The owners had paid exceptional attention to anticipating our needs. We have already recommended this location to everyone who will listen. We hope to revisit in the near future.
