We brought our daughter and son-in-law on this great vacation to your wonderful city. We loved your property and we were not disappointed in how it was discribed on the VRBO website. It was clean and well maintained. The owners were quick in getting back to us. We would gladly recommend this property to our friends and relatives. The night before we left we met Elizabeth out in front of our unit and asked her to pick us up in the morning to take us to the airport. She was there on time and was a very delightful driver.

We loved our stay in your lovely unit... thankyou! The unit was very clean, well maintained and beautifully furnished. Communication from the owners was excellent and any queries handled quickly. Absolutely everything we needed was at our finger tips, including a folder of information on Washington(very handy). Fabulous location to resturants, transport and attractions. We would definately rent this accommodation again and also recommend to our friends....

Myself, wife, two young sons, and their grandmother all stayed the week for our spring break vacation. We stayed in the lower apartment which had two nice bedrooms and a pulldown sofa (think futon). The boys slept on the bed which they thought was pretty cool. The area is very nice. Definitively walk to DuPont Circle and the surrounding area. We walked to the DuPont Station every morning and took the metro wherever we needed. We didn't need a car at all. It was early April and the cherry blossoms. were in bloom. It was beautiful. The area is lovely with gorgeous brownstone lined streets. There are several restaurants along 17th Street. 10 minute walk from house. We liked Annie's Steakhouse and DuPont Italian Kitchen. Good food and service for reasonable price (esp for DC). We bought groceries at the Safeway on 17th and our booze at Cairo across from Safeway. The apartment is in very good condition. It appears to have been recently renovated (IKEA style, very modern). Beds are very comfortable. Though I wouldn't recommend adults sleeping on the pulldown unless that's something you're use to. Awesome master shower, loved the shower head. Kitchen is modern and new with all the items needed to prepare meals at home. The owners were very responsive (all correspondence done via email). We really have no negative criticism. It's exactly what we expected. Now if you are from suburbia US where you live in a 3000+ SF home please note that this is a city apartment brownstone. It is small, but not uncomfortable. You have two floors of the four.floor brownstone. The bedrooms are small as well as the common area but that was not a problem for us as we were out seeing DC every day. If you're staying in DC stay here if you can. We think you'll love it.

Four of us had a fantastic stay! As former DC residents, it was fantastic to feel like we were HOME. The kitchen was great, and we used it to cook a pasta dinner the night before our half marathon (the reason for our trip). The common areas were lovely for sipping wine and catching up with friends. The beds were comfy, and the showers had amazing water pressure! Of course, the location cannot be beat - tons of restaurants, shops, and sights within walking distance. Metro and Bus routes are super convenient as well. I would HIGHLY recommend this condo to anyone traveling to DC.

We enjoyed our stay at this townhouse very much. The unit was very clean and everything was in great shape. It is located close to two metro stops, several nice resturants, and a Safeway grocery store. We felt very safe walking around at any time of the day or night. The decorating of the townhouse is very stylish. The kitchen is well stocked and the appliances are top notch. Getting to the National Mall is very convient either by Metro or cab.

We had a wonderful time on Swann St. for Thanksgiving week, visiting our DC college student daughter and seeing the sights. The apt. was just lovely, decorated so sleek and sophisticated. The lovely high ceilings and color coordinated walls, furniture, linens and art work made us feel like we were in a classy resort. We cooked turkey dinner in the kitchen and had guests over, and we had everything we needed as the kitchen is well equipped. We used the kitchen to save money on breakfasts and happy hours, as food in DC is pricey. The beds were very comfy(and I'm very picky about beds) and there was a ton of left-behind travel guides and maps etc. for our use. The bathrooms were very modern with great shower heads. The neighborhood was so charming... colorful row houses, churches and a few blocks from many different restaurants. I felt very safe walking in the area and to both close by metro stations. We also were able to hail taxis at all different times on 16th St. when we had tired feet. This rental was everything we had hoped for and we will return!

My husband and I made our first trip to Washington DC in October. Choosing the Swann Street condo in the Dupont Circle area was a great decision. The location was perfect. Walking distance to restaurants, shopping and city bus line, yet a very quiet, clean and comfortable place to enjoy after our long day of site seeing. The furnishings were all top notch with a well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and even a patio. The owners were very responsive to all of our inquiries. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay. We hope to come back again soon and would certainly stay at the Swann Street condo again.

My family of four thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the condo! It was clean, comfortable and centrally located to the metro - though we walked to most of the area's major attractions. Great restaurants were nearby, but the nearby Whole Foods and modern kitchen let us save $ cooking in several nights. The owners were very accomodating to our travel needs. We felt like we were coming to a home each night rater than a rental. I would highly recommend thie property.

My children and I rented this condo for a week for our vacation to Washington DC. Jarek and Kate were fabulous to work with! I have to say, I was a bit skeptical - never having tried this type of approach for lodging before, but Jarek and Kate proved to me that this is exactly what they say it is! The condo we beautiful and felt homey the moment you walk in the door. Everything you could need was available. They provided tons of brochures and materials to help assist with where to go and what to do in DC. The grocery store was only a few blocks away. Starbucks - 2 blocks away. CVS about 5 blocks away. Some fabulous restaurants also only a few blocks away. The bus route runs right by the condo which made it extremely easy to get around town. I can't thank Kate and Jarek enough for making this available for rent. It was so much better than staying in a hotel!!

We stayed in this condo during our April vacation and truly enjoyed our time there. It is located on a residential street, yet one can find everything within walking distance (a Whole Foods just a few blocks away, as well as many great restaurants). The condo is very clean and well taken care of. It's is beautifully furnished, and generously equipped with linens and towels. We will definitely recommend this condo to friends and family.

They were BEYOND happy when they arrived and said that the 2 bedroom was absolutely darling and that they want to stay there again for the next convention. The location is brilliant and the service impeccable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

A threat of heavy snow loomed over our Christmas visit (we got out just in time) but upon walking into our Swann accommodations we knew the possibility of being snowed in was not the worst thing in the world! So clean, so modern and everything we needed was at our fingertips. We loved the neighborhood as well. We spent a full day at the Newseum (highly recommended), saw everything we wanted, ate great food, took the train to New York City Christmas day and left just before the snow. Every time we listed the reasons we were so fortunate our list began and ended with our Swann apartment! Thank you, Jared and Kate, for your wonderful hospitality. Book this place now!

My husband and I stayed for weekend of Oct 30th 2010, just two nights (last year we stayed 8 nights in the same condo) and we had--as expected--a great time. Beds are still fantastically comfy, shower pressure wonderful and therapeutic, etc. A new note: last year it was a bit warm in DC and this past weekend a bit cooler at night and both times the temperature (or, the HVAC system in the apartment) were perfect! It is a pet hate of mine when you stay somewhere and you're either sweltering or freezing and that is not going to happen on Swann Street. We were in the lower level and the bedrooms are essentially an "English basement" level on a concrete floor but the floor is NEVER cold on your feet and you never worry that you'll spend the night shivering or hunting up too many heavy and hard to control extra blankets! The thermostat is controlled by the guest and you always feel comfortable, no matter what the outside weather conditions are. This is as important to me when I stay somewhere as cleanliness, and the apartment is always clean and bright, too. So, now that we've stayed twice at this property, we still strongly recommend it to anyone needing a good home base in DC and it would be hard for us to stay anywhere else when we go to our nation's amazing capital. The comfort, the safety, the easy access to food and transport, etc. keep it a winner. Maybe next time we'll try the upper two floors of this fine townhome building, just for a change of pace. But, make no mistake, the two lower level floors are tried-and-true and we'd never be disappointed to stay here. Thanks to the Mika family for their fine hospitality and smarts about providing lodging and comfort. One plug for pizza in the area: we left a print out about Pete's New Haven aka Petesapizza and they are just a bit north of the apartment and deliver to Swann St. (though it can take about an hour, so plan accordingly). Very good pizza and salad and great when you want to just flop onto the couch and talk over the day or watch some television after a long day of travel or hoofing it around DC. Try them out. petesapizza.com/apizza.html. Good luck.

The townhouse exceeded our expectations from the modern decor and cleanliness. However, the recommended taxi driver " Elizabeth" was a huge let down. We made an appointment with her the day before we had to be at the White House for our 9am appointment, and she did not show or bother to call. We even called her to see if she forgot because it was past our scheduled pick up time, and she didn't bother to call back. There are plenty of nice and informative cab drivers on 16th St, which is a few doors down from the townhouse.

This property is clean and well-maintained. It is in excellant condition, better then the average time share I've stayed in. We were greeted by a welcome note and a bottle of nice wine from the owner. He met us there shortly after we arrived to greet us personally and answer any questions we had. He also gave us some fine suggestions for restaurants in the area and sites to see. It was trulely an eight block walk to the White House and walking distance to the metro. Also close enough to a busy street to hail a cab. The property exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend it to family and friends.

We visited for a long weekend with family and the apartment was wonderful. It's in an ideal location in DC - within a gorgeous neighborhood, and easy walking distance from Whole Foods, the subway and some nice restaurants and shops. The main floor of the apartment is very open and light, with excellent fixtures (kitchen is perfect for group cooking). The downstairs bedrooms are comfortable and the remodeled bathrooms are extremely well done. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to another visit.

The beds were the most comfortable, the showers were incredible, the location was great for the metro and great dining. Only comment we have is we don't think you need to provide a computer - just tell people to bring their laptops because your wifi in great. We stayed in the lower unit on Swann Street for one week from 9/29/09 to 10/6/09 and it was lovely. Very nice and clean, modern but not at all cold or unwelcoming, and excellent location (good for neighborhood, but also very good commuting via Red Line at DuPont Circle AND the S2 and S4 bus lines up and down 16th Street). This apartment was much nicer than where we spent our last two nights in DC after staying here, the Swann House B&B on 18th and Swann. Don't get us wrong, Swann House B&B is nice, but you get sooooooo much more for the money by renting this apartment. Wished we'd booked our whole trip here. It was safe and fun and comfortable. We really appreciated the great showers (you have to love a shower with outstanding water pressure!) and the bed was comfortable and made resting up between long days of walking DC a guarantee. Thanks to Jarek and Kate and their family for such a good rental. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

The Old Post Office was a huge success with the kids and we gave up on the Washington Monument after learning about it from Jarek. Lovely apartment - very appealing atmosphere. Great location. Incredibly comfortable beds. Only downfalls: internet was extremely unreliable (only worked about 10% of the time), washer and dryer were advertised but were not there for our entire week's stay (a real disappointment - owner said they stopped working last week and he was in process of having them replaced) and no outdoor grill (as was advertised).
Owner response:Jeanette - thank you for your feedback. Indeed our washer and dryer stopped working right before your arrival and we are waiting for replacement and as it turns out, the units are on back order. As for the grill, I wish you mentioned that you wanted to use it as it is stored under the stairs for winter and we would have set it up for you. I am sorry to hear about the Internet and that it gave you troubles. Our service is provided by Comcast and there are service interruptions time to time. I am not sure why it only worked 10% of the time as it is connected to our cable TV which means, the TV wouldn't work either. Perhaps, it had some reliability issues for which we apologize.

This is the best place we ever stayed at when renting through VRBO. My husband and I spent one week here with our 14 year old daughter and we all loved it. The location is ideal as it is close to all the shops, restaurants and all the sights as well as two Metro stops. We have never been to Washington and have to say that we didn’t expect such a beautiful neighborhood, very historic and very upscale. We walked back late at night from the restaurants and always felt very safe which was rather important since we had our 14 year old daughter with us. The apartment looked and felt brand new. We would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting DC for the first time with family. .

We had an absolute wonderful time in DC. Loved the condo, it was just perfect for the 4 of us. It was great being close to all forms of transportation, and within walking distance to other places as well. We had a blast at the Whole Foods Market. In fact if you check next to the pots and pans we left 3 of their shopping bags there. We headed out during Hanna to visit some of the Smithsoniam Museums and grabbed a cab and walked into at least 6 inches of water. We were so soaked, but we laughed about it all day and the rest of the night. We ended up buying ponchos as the rain and wind broke our umbrellas and then had to buy 2 more umbrellas. It was quite the day with Hanna. I think we saw everything we wanted to see and then some. Had passes on the Hop on Hop off bus for 2 days which is really the way to go when you don't know the area. Took the Circulator, and many cabs too. But I have to tell you I don't think any of us ever walked so much in our whole life as we did during the week we were there. Went to Arlington and saw the changing of the guard..very awesome. Took the tour boat on the Potomac to Mount Vernon and spent hours there too. Watched folks fish near the Jefferson Monument...catching bass they said. We have way too many pictures but we love every single one of them. A cabbie told us to go to Bobby Vans for dinner so we did that for our daughter's birthday. Great food but quite pricey. Took the advice of one of your previous guests and went to the Mexican place in Dupont circle. I forgot the name. How insane that was. That staff runs all over up and down the stairs. Crazy. Very attentive too. Had fun there. We were able to tour the White House and Capitol. That was great. Loved the Capitol. Had a grand tour from our state rep's staff. Walked amidst the protesters and loved it. Had lunch at the Hawk and Dove, had breakfast at Old Ebbits Grill..fantastic place and very nice folks.

EVERYTHING is within walking distance, stores, restaurants (Lauriol Plaza was recommended by the owner and we loved it) as well as the DC attractions. Neighborhood was very safe, historic and offers great atmosphere. The owner gave us number of tips on what the locals do and where to eat and we appreciate all of those as they all were great. All WE can say is WONDERFUL. The condo was great and Jarek was very accomadating as well as hospitable. We had a great time in D.C. although it seemed as though there was not enough time to see all D.C. had to offer! If ever in D.C. again, we plan to return to 1538 Swann Dr NW! Thanks Jarek for everything!!!!! P.S. Don't forget the shelves in the shower & a full length mirror for the ladies!!!
Owner response:Thanks Veronica - it was our pleasure hosting you all in DC and thanks for the feedback, we are already working on getting both :-) Hope to see you back in DC soon. Jarek

My wife and I stayed a week at in this divine townhouse. We loved the location in the Dupont Circle neighborhood as well as the proximity to everything in DC. Every day after scurrying about we found ourselves waiting to return to the perfect home. We travel a lot and would put this at the top of our list for a great place to stay. This is as good as it gets.

We spent 4 days/3 nights over the Memorial Day weekend. This is the best way to see Washington DC including getting to know a residential neighborhood that has everything one would want - tree lined streets, lovely private gardens, a 10 minute walk to Whole Foods and the metro. The apartment is furnished exactly as seen in the photos - quality furnishings, bedding and excellent showers. A great place in Washington DC

The location was wonderful. It gave us the feeling of really being a part of Washington. It was six of us and we had plenty space. The unit is very nice, modern and has this fresh new feel. Everything was very clean and simply exceeded our expectations. Thank you - we will be back :-) The units were clean, well furnished and comfortable. Thanks, it was a pleasure working with you.

Thank you for a great stay. The location was perfect for touring around D.C. with everything being very close. We enjoyed having the additional space for the kids as well as all the restaurants within the walking distance.
