Redondo Beach house description
French Normandy at the beach. This fabulous one of a kind beach home is located two blocks from the beach in one of South Redondo's most desired locations. Built in 1929, this French Normandy style is truly a wonderful retreat! Restored over the years, it has most of its original windows and hardwood floors. The home is bright and sunny, and french pass-through doors separate the dining room from the kitchen. Three bedrooms, 2 bath, dining room, eat-in kitchen that seats four to six, new stainless steel convection/regular oven and double drawer dishwasher. Kitchen is complete with spices, coffee pot, blender and all amenities needed for cooking.
Living room has wood burning fireplace, with vintage hutches throughout the house storing dishes, books, and movies to watch. The home has antique chandeliers in most rooms lending to its old world charm.
The Garden is a wonderful retreat all on its own, boasting a hand-painted mural compliments of a local artist.
A lovely fountain surrounded by a pond with an avocado tree and giant bird of paradise, palm trees and vines cover the property, and in season the smell of jasmine is all around. The deck is situated off the house, covered with wisteria(in season) and is furnished with wrought Iron tables and chairs, chaise lounges, and a glass table that seats six. A wonderful place to dine after a relaxing day at the beach!
The master bedroom is extra large--over 550 square feet with triple sliding doors leading to the deck. The master and middle bedrooms both have pillow top mattresses and memory foam mattress toppers. All rooms have goose down comforters.
The third bedroom is decorated in a shabby chic style with both a full and twin size bed. All rooms have hand refinished, vintage furniture done compliments of Allard Designs studios in Redondo Beach.
The middle bathroom has been restored with a 1920's hand painted vanity and brushed nickel sink and faucet. It has a one of a kind chandelier, wall sconces and silk beaded shades.
The house is beautiful and charming yet functional. Great location--2 blocks to the sand. Quiet and private, this house is perfect if you want to be away from all the noise of the big cities but close enough to everything. Ask for details for special services such as personal trainers, nutrition experts or personal assistant if needed while you're here. Enjoy!
For people interested in renting a house for parties please do not book with us. We have a 10 person maximum on the property at any time and no parties are allowed. No loud noise is permitted, as we try to respect our neighbors.

We are 15-20 min to all major freeways for those who want to explore. 'So close to everything and the house has so much more than you see on the web page. It was fabulous!'
'The master bedroom is like an apartment; it opens out to the deck is so quiet, and we never slept better. Perfect retreat! We will be back next year.'
'We visited California for a much-needed break from our daily routine. We were so happy with our stay at this house--it was so charming and beautifully done, and the garden and fountain area were spectacular! In addition to the house's
great ambiance, we especially enjoyed how close it was to the beach, restaurants, and shops. We plan to return to this house on our next vacation to California.'

BEAUTIFUL HOME and MAGICAL GARDEN!
BEAUTIFUL HOME and MAGICAL GARDEN!
We recently stayed at this lovely house and had a wonderful experience. Over the years, I have also owned rental homes, so I feel it is imperative that I write this review about this special property so that it may be properly represented, especially as there are two rather odd reviews of this exceptional place. Before we booked, I read the two reviews here and decided that I wanted to meet the owner and also see the house in person. The owner was very kind and hospitable and gave me a nice tour of the property. The backyard which another reviewer said has fleas (what yard in California does not have fleas?!) is beautifully landscaped with a soothing fountain. I have a small dog and once we rented the home, our dog enjoyed both the front and backyard with no issues about fleas at all. Most pet owners understand that it is our responsibility to treat our own animals for fleas, as fleas are unfortunately a part of any warm weather climate. With that said, there is no flea problem here that is out of the ordinary. The other strange review on this site had to do with issues that were represented unfairly and inaccurately. I can only think that the person who wrote the review is really picky. The freezer was stocked with ice for us so we never needed or requested an ice-maker. At my own home, I do not even use an icemaker. The garbage disposal is not to be used in the house as it is a historic house! I have lived in older houses before and many of them do not even have garbage disposals. The owner told us beforehand not to use the garbage disposal, so this was also a non-issue for us. I do not recall if one of the burners on the stove did not work as I never used 4 burners at once (who does??). We usually only used 2 at a time or maybe 3 at a time at dinner once or twice. Another thing mentioned was that the dvd players didn't work. That's simply not true at all. Maybe the reviewer simply didn't know how to work the remote control ??? The t.v.s and dvd players worked fine for us. Finally, the furniture around the house is LOVELY! PERFECT! BEAUTIFUL! The owner used to run an interior design shop so she has exquisite pieces around the house, including two expensive couches in the living room which face the fireplace and make a nice sitting area. My husband and I had a wonderful time here and would return. The owner lives on-site but we only saw her upon check-in and check-out as we never needed anything during our stay in this little paradise!

Great location...house needs to be updated
Great location...house needs to be updated
I have to agree for the most part with Jenny's review. It has also taken me a while to write this review for multiple reasons. The owner is a very nice person, but she needs to invest in some updates in the property in order for her future renters to feel that they are getting a good value. I rented this house with my husband, three kids, and my parents for about 5 weeks. The location is superb. You can walk to the beach and many great restaurants in the Redondo Beach area. Unfortunately, this is the best thing that I can write about the property at this time. When we arrived, we noticed that the ice maker/water dispenser on the refrigerator did not work. Two of the burners on the stove were also not in working condition. There was a note that instructed us that we were not allowed to use the garbage disposal. When I communicated the problems to the owner, she was shocked that these were a problem for us. While we made due with the lack of ice maker and broken burners on the stove, the lack of a usable garbage disposal was a major inconvenience. As Jenny stated in an earlier review, the parking area was not usable either. There was a bunch of stuff blocking us from using it. Thankfully, street parking did not end up being an issue. In addition, the furniture in the main living area was very old and uncomfortable. We had to move a TV into the family room area and rearrange the furniture in order to utilize the room. Due to her response from our first complaints, I didn't bother to tell her that the DVD players she has in the house were also broken. If she was willing to put a little bit of money into these inexpensive issues, I am confident that she would have this house rented out a majority of the time. I am also a landlord to a property in the Hermosa Beach area, and I assure you that our requests were NOT unreasonable.

Absolutely wonderful week at a beautiful home!
Absolutely wonderful week at a beautiful home!
My family and I rented this house recently, When we arrived the owner had fresh cut flowers for us which was a great touch and so inviting! Prior to arriving, we had hoped that the house and grounds would be as pleasing as they were in the photos and I must say they exceeded our expectations. The whole property is even more beautiful in person. We really had everything we could have needed here. The kitchen is well stocked with all the amenities we needed and there are lots of shops and restaurants nearby as well. My kids walked to the beach every day and the house had beach-towels laid out on chairs for us to take with us to the beach. This home is perfect for a family visiting who wants to be near some activity but also be able to retreat to a quiet, peaceful home at night. We will definitely be staying here again next year and will book in advance to make sure we get in!

Relaxing Stay at the Beach
Relaxing Stay at the Beach
My husband and I and our dog live in a historic home and were thrilled to find out that we could vacation at a historic home near the beach! This home is very clean and decorated to the historic age of the home with all the comfort of today. In reading the review from a past renter, I was astounded at the comments. First of all, we had no problems with the owner and her dogs living in the loft above the home. It was very reassuring knowing that if we had any problems or questions the owner was there to assist. I find that it is very common to have fleas near the beach and we took the precaution to protect our dog prior to our stay, therefore, we had no problems. The cost of our stay was very reasonable when you consider that the location is in a very nice neighborhood and just steps from the beach. I would recommend that you make your reservations as soon as possible, because this place will book up fast. We will make reservations for another stay in the near future and will recommend to our friends.

Awkward To Say The Least
Awkward To Say The Least
It has taken me almost 6 months to decide about writing this review. We feel empathy for the owner, but feel that renters have a right to know what they may encounter out of fairness. We were only there for a long weekend but upon arrival discovered that the enclosed parking area was being used as a storage area and not available for parking as promised. The home is very well furnished and maintained, but the owner and her 2 little dogs moved from the main house we were renting and stayed in a studio loft above us all weekend. We felt as if we were booting her to the curb and we did bump into each other in the privacy of the backyard early on that first morning in our PJ's. It was awkward to say the least. I wish we'd known ahead of time. Our little dog (who was graciously welcomed by the owner!) was looking forward to exploring the pretty enclosed garden and backyard but there were so many fleas... When we mentioned the emergency flea-bath after our first visit to the garden, the owner shrugged it off because she didn't want to use any chemicals. We stay at rentals in the area frequently and all of these issues were "firsts" for us. Had the garden been treated for fleas, the parking area cleared for our vehicle and the owner stayed off-site it would've been a lovely long weekend but we felt as if we were invading her privacy, and likewise. We had all of our meals at restaurants and walked the dog out front when he needed to go outside. Just a very awkward weekend overall.
