"Hope Cottage" is a lovely, professionally decorated summer cottage built directly on the rocks. The original house was built in 1901 and has many charming details. The spectacular views of the Fox Island Thorofare and outer islands of Penobscot Bay cannot be beat. At high tide, the water comes under the house and one truly feels as if you are afloat! Available June, July, end of August and September 2009. A deep water dock and moorings are available for minimal fee.
The main cottage has a central living room, with plenty of seating for entertaining or simply relaxing by the fire. There is a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, fridge and stove/oven. Off the kitchen is the best dining room on North Haven!
There are 3 comfortable bedrooms - a master bedroom with queen bed, and two bedrooms with 2 twin beds in each in the main house.
One full size bathroom with shower, tub and double vanity accomodates all your guests with ease.
In addition there is a "Back Cottage" with two bedrooms, each with one twin bed, a shared full bath and a washer and dryer. This back cottage is perfect for additional family, friends or babysitter. Wireless internet access is available in both houses.
Another treat to the house is a newly built outdoor fireplace which is a great place to have an authentic lobster bake, grill up some steaks or cook s'mores every night!!!
Renters may have access to a deep-water dock and mooring. Bring your sailboat or motorboat to explore the amazing islands nearby. North Haven also is home to a semi-private, nine-hole golf course that has been written up in Golf Magazine as one of the best public nine hole courses in the US (and is within walking distance of the house).
The quaint village of North Haven is a 10 minute walk, or 5 minute bicycle ride. It is home to a newly built community center which is the hub of activity all year long. There are a few small restaurants to dine at for lunch and dinner. North Haven is also home of some very talented artists including Eric Hopkins, Angela Adams and Herbert Parsons (Google them for more info.).
Enjoy true peace and quiet! Or fill the house with family and friends and enjoy spectacular sunrises, cool nights and warm sunny days lounging on the porch.

The Unique Benefits of this House
"Hope Cottage" is in the ideal location! It is a short stroll into town, yet incredibly private! It is wonderfully decorated, yet incredibly comfortable. But, this is not a cabin in the woods by any stretch. It is a lovely, well-maintained house. It is fully equipped for families with children. A portable crib is available. The dining room seats 12. The beds sleep 8. The sunrises are unbelievable!!!
