Celebrated Parent's 60th Anniversary with four generations under one roof!

We couldn't have orchestrated a better property to host our parent's 60th anniversary. The home itself is wonderfully decorated in the Northwoods theme. Very comfortable, with large and small sitting areas to accommodate various interests: talking over a cup of coffee, catching the news/weather at the end of the day, playing games around the dining room table, etc. The out of doors was GREAT for the kids of ALL ages. The gradual sandy beach, in the quiet bay, allowed the 4-10 year olds to spend vast amounts of time digging in the sand, floating on air mattresses, paddling kayaks, etc. The older 'kids' played ladderball and bocce ball on the lawn, and enjoyed skiing and tubing on the clean river. One of my greatest joys, was once again fishing with my Dad, who first taught me to fish 45 years ago. Working with the owners via internet and phone to work out the details was our first experience in renting a vacation home, but it was easy and enjoyable. It takes a certain kind of person to open up their beautiful home to others. A gift basket greated us on our arrival. We also had a local contact to turn to with any questions during our stay. THANK YOU, Jim and Laurie for sharing your home with our family! From making smores around the campfire to visiting local attractions, to just enjoying Family Time, we couldn't have asked for a better place to spend time together.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

Wonderful experience! Absolutely stunning property. Comfortable, beautifully decorated home situated on a quiet bay. This is a great place to relax and escape for a few days. We highly recommend the property and would love to visit again! Our expectations were definitely exceeded!

We had an amazing time at this home. We had 12 family members there for a week, and there was plenty of room for everyone. The fishing, boating, waterskiing, tubing and everything else was perfect. The home is beautiful and wonderfully decorated. Every detail was attended to. The several kids that were with us never ran out of things to do, but they made grandpa clean all of the fish. Great family memories!

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us this week. Everyone absolutely loved the place. It was perfect for us. We caught tons of fish off of the dock, we enjoyed sunset cruises every night on the pontoon, we cooked dogs and s'mores on the fire, and we spent every afternoon pulling everyone behind the ski boat. My young niece absolutely loved all of the Moose, and made sure everyone saw them all. Don't be surprised if I become a fellow home owner on Shell Lake someday. We'll be in touch if we can figure out timing and details for next summer.

"You probably have plenty of pictures of your house at Shell Lake but the smile on Betty's face here attests to how much we enjoyed being there. I noticed that you pretty much filled up for this summer on the VRBO website but we can always say we were first."
