Nice cabin with everything you need to get away from things for awhile. Dave is very accomodating, I left a battery charger there, they mailed it back to me without me even asking! Hot tub is great, if its warm enough to go canoeing around the lake that's also a good time. Deck comes with a big gas grill to cook outside, nice gas fireplace for colder nights. Flat screen with cable & iPod hookups. Groceries take a 10 minute drive but heh, you aren't going there to be right next to a Walmart anyways so just plan ahead:)

What a wonderful cottage to find!

Guest: Susie N. (Sacramento, CA)
Date of Stay: 09/08/11 Review Submitted: 09/23/11

We had a wonderful long weekend at Quietwater Cottage. The cottage is situated on the Wisconsin River. The deck was where we spent most of our time, watching the wildlife and an occasional canoe. It was a grand place to sit after dinner and listen to the Sandhill Crane calling until nightfall. The cottage was well appointed. We found everything we needed. The owners had great suggestions on places to visit, but the cottage would a great place to bring a book and enjoy life on the river. We hope to return in the not too distant future. ~Susie Sacramento, CA

Wonderful getaway at Quietwater

Guest: Bob (Joliet, IL)
Date of Stay: 05/09/11 Review Submitted: 05/18/11

Had a fantastic 4 day vacation at Quietwater. The property is gorgeous! The wife and I especially loved relaxing in the hot tub and watching the sunset each evening. Our two cocker spaniels had the time of their lives. They had a great time playing in the water and they enjoyed watching all the beautiful birds as much as we did. Dave is an excellent host and even left us a bottle of wine to enjoy while relaxing. I couldn't imagine a better way to celebrate my upcoming 40th Birthday. We plan on returning again, hopefully for at least a week this time. Four days were just not enough. Thanks for everything.

Second time up here and just as perfect as the first. Exactly what we needed for a close get-a-way from the big city. The area is beautiful and the cottage is as pretty as can be. Good fishing, incredible views, friendly people; what else could you ask for! We will definately be back!

What a wonderful relaxing vacation...

Guest: Michelle (Rockford)
Date of Stay: 10/07/10 Review Submitted: 10/13/10

Our stay was WONDERFUL!!! SO relaxing :) The weather was beautiful. The cabin was so clean and welcoming. We appreciated the bottle of wine and the comforting welcome. We fished (caught Crappie, Pumpkinseed, Walleye, Perch, Bullhead and even a crayfish and SALAMANDER!!! - have you ever seen a salamander in real life? We hadn't - it was cool). The kids put their suits on and walked right off the dock up to the island and hunted for clams (we almost had a clam bake, but the kids threw a fit :) (The dog (golden retriever) loved it too (first time she's had the opportunity to be in the water this much) We made campfire chili over the fire while we fished. That same night - we saw probably 200 cranes fly over and descend into the cattails/reeds. It was really cool. The canoes and rowboat were a hit as well as the hot tub. Thanks again for a wonderful experience!

Perfect quiet getaway for our family

Date of Stay: 09/08/10 Review Submitted: 09/13/10

We spent our first ever family vacation visiting this cottage - my husband, our 8-month old daughter and small dog. It was just the perfect escape. Our daughter's pack and play fit perfectly in the second bedroom. We enjoyed using the patio to grill, play games and just relax. Who knew bird watching would be so fun? The kitchen was well-stocked, you really just need food. Even comes with sugar, salt, spices, etc. Bedroom was very comfortable - same with all the seating in the living room. Firepit down by the water was great. We spent one day visiting Mackenzie Environmental Education Center and another at Lapacek's Orchard - got to pick our daughter's first pumpkin right off the vine. Both were just perfect day trips - just 15 or so miles away. Ron the property manager was very nice and helpful. We would definitely reccomend this to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway. You feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, yet if you want to get out and do things, there's plenty to do! Thanks Dave for providing a great, memorable trip!

My family had a Wonderful time at the Quietwater Cottage, it was described perfectly and was just what we were looking for. The view from the deck and hottub was more than relaxing. The children and dogs enjoyed the water right in the backyard. We also enjoyed boating to a nearby sandbar for an afternoon of fun in the sun. The water was a little low but once my husband learned to navigate we were able to get our boat right up to the dock by the house. We also really enjoyed the canoes that were provided. The owner and caretakers couldn't have been more helpful, great information provided on local attractions and restaurants. We didn't travel away from the cottage to much but did enjoy one day at the Dells and a lovely drive to Baraboo one afternoon. Also one evening at the nearby casino. We also enjoyed a meal at a nearby lakeside restaurant, Hooker's, absolutely delicious Friday night fish fry. I would recommend this to anyone looking to relax and have some fun with a small family. We enjoyed the experience with 2 children and 2 dogs. Plenty of room for us all. Thanks again Dave for a wonderful experience.

Owner response:Steph, Thanks for being our guests, glad you had a good time. Try a stay in the winter sometime! -Dave

Nice quiet vacation cottage

My husband and I really enjoyed vacationing at Quietwater Cottage. We were looking for something relaxing and that's exactly what we got. Our small dog enjoyed it, too. One of our favorite things about the cabin was the giant window in the living room overlooking the lake. During the rainy times, we could just sit in the living room and watch everything. We drove to Baraboo and went to the waterfalls Dave had told us about. Terrific view. Great opportunity for photos and it made a nice, short day trip. Dave was very helpful with suggestions, which we really appreciated.

Owner response:H&M, Thanks for being our guests glad that you made it to the waterfall, it's truly a hidden gem in the area!

My family stayed in Dave's Island View cottage this past weekend along with 2 other couples. The house was clean, warm and comfy. We spent Saturday at Devil's Head snow skiing, which was just a short drive away. We also took a quick trip to the Dells to the casino, which was also a short drive away. The beds were all comfortable and the hot tub was soo nice after a long day on the ski slopes. My son cried when we left saying that he wanted to stay there forever! It was a nice weekend trip away from the big city...

Owner response:Cyndee, thanks for being our guests and I hope that you and your family get a chance to come back during the spring or summer! -Dave

This cottage was everything that they promised. We were only two hours from home but felt like we were far, far away! The hot tub was located outside on the deck and we enjoyed it every morning listening to all the sounds of nature. It was a bonus that they allowed us to bring our golden retriever who also enjoyed it very much. If you want to get away and just relax - this is the perfect spot!!

Absolutely an amazing experience. There is nothing that compares to being in a hot tub in freezing temperatures, definitely not for the faint of heart. The cottage was great, all the amenities you need to feel like you're home away from home. Exceptionally clean and well kept, staying at the cottage is an opportunity to take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Dave, thanks again for everything.

My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Quietwater, if only it could have been longer! It was also great to find a place where we could bring her dog along, so she could enjoy the outdoors too, for far less than the price of a dogsitter, had we left her. The cottage was so welcoming, when we first got there, the temperature was nice and warm, the stereo on made us feel at home, and the rooms were clean and fresh. The location was wonderful, close enough for quick trips to the Wollersheim Winery and outlet mall in Baraboo, and the beautiful sights close to the cottage were great for hiking and long walks. The best part at the end of the day - relaxing in the hot tub, then watching a movie on the nicely sized LCD TV! I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a quiet winter getaway close to Chicago. Dave and Cheryl are wonderful hosts, and I hope to stay at Quietwater again, next time with my boyfriend!

The "Quietwater" cabin was the perfect getaway for us to celebrate the holiday with our two sons, home from college. The location to the ski slopes of Cascade Mountain and Devils Head was effortless. The photos prepared us for exactly what was advertised, a comfortable, cozy and clean getaway. We visit Wisconsin to ski, but we're already talking about some summer time there. We would recommend this experience for anyone looking to get away from it all.

We stayed at this cottage in late October and it was perfect. The fireplace was an added bonus since it was quite cold during the weekend of our stay. The hot tub was cozy and clean. Everything was stocked in the cabin...there was even sugar in the cupboard for our morning coffee. The owner was very responsive and an absolute delight to do business with. We will definitely be back.

Dear David and Cheryl, We had a wonderful time. You could smell the clean as you walked in. Even the sheets and towels smelled nice! The trees were turning, the birds were chirping, the fish were jumping and the stars were falling!! It was a wonderful relaxing time, I highly recommend it. My favoite part, besides the view of the lake, was the access to the hot tub! With all the lights off, so the only lights were the moon and the stars. We will be back!!!

We spent a wonderful weekend at your lovely home and thoroughly enjoyed helping Aaron turn 40!! We found your home to be the perfect retreat for us to reconnect with one another. There was really no need to venture away - other than a for rowboat ride! We spent several hours in the hottub, watching the stars and listening to the geese fly overhead. Thank you so much for allowing our canine companions to vacation with us! I hope we'll be back...

Quietwater cottage was even nicer than we hoped/expected! The cottage was immaculate and very comfortable -- the hosts/owners thought of everything. We loved the deck and spa! The view was gorgeous, and the area was quiet and peaceful. The location feels remote but is conveniently near grocery shopping, laudromat, and tourism/entertainment (not that you'll want to go out). We hope to come back often!

The description on line was to the t. The cottage had practically everything you needed. The senery was beautiful and relaxing. The boys had a blast with having the boats for use when ever they wanted. We hope to come back again. Only thing missing was a clothes washer, that is the only thing keeping it from being perfectly flawless. Thank you for sharing your piece of tranquility. Lisa

Owner response:Lisa, Thanks for being our very first guests at Quietwater! Glad you enjoyed it, I could tell the boys would when I saw them bound out of the car and run for the waterfront. They caught a turtle within no time! I hope you found the little laundromat just four miles up the road in the tiny hamlet of Harmony Grove. It's across the street from the Pizza Parlor. Looking forward to you being our guest again. -Dave
