Secluded luxurious farmhouse in the heart of Umbria, owned by an Italian-American couple. Just one and a half hours from Rome and Florence, this house is in the middle of forty acres of woods on a natural reserve that includes Etruscan tombs, nature trails and a stunning view of the Calanchi valley. Ideal for young families and people who enjoy privacy and nature.
The house has been remodeled, but preserves its unique charm and sense of rustic elegance. The home itself has terracotta floors and wood beams throughout, plus spacious patios for outdoor dining and sunbathing under the shade of four hundred year old chestnut trees.
The main house has a master bedroom with an antique wrought iron bed and bath with tub, plus its own entrance. There is a living room with fireplace and satellite TV, CD player and a small den /playroom with a day bed for an extra person to sleep. Next to the den is a spacious guest bathroom with shower. The gourmet kitchen is fully equipped with pots and pans and tableware for twenty. There is a loft over the kitchen with a cozy twin bedded room (ideal for children) and its own bath with shower and private entrance. A few meters distance from the main house is a romantic and private guest house with four poster bed, mosquito net, and a large bath with shower. The pool is 10 by 6 meters and is surrounded by lawns and Balinese wooden beds for sunbathing and a convenient outdoor shower.
Just up the road is a small village for everyday needs, and a mile away is Cività di Bagnoregio, a famous medieval village that can be reached only by crossing a footbridge. Orvieto is fifteen minutes away and has many shops and a railway station to bring you to all of Umbria's famous towns for day trips.
For families traveling with children, the house is fully stocked with toys, books and videos in both Italian and English to keep the little ones entertained.
