Happy New Year!

Our family had a wonderful time in Avila and enjoyed the cozy atmosphere of this charming home. The beautiful view from the deck and the easy access to the beach made it the perfect place for us to have fun and relax. It was also quiet and clean, a must for us. We look forward to visiting again!

A relaxing vacation

Guest: Maura (Los Angeles)
Date of Stay: 07/16/11 Review Submitted: 08/02/11

This house was perfect for my little family. The decor was lovely and the kitchen had everything we needed. The second bedroom was a little small, but the bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed spending time on the deck watching the seals and pelicans in the ocean, and we also walked down the hill every day to enjoy the lovely beach and adjacent ice cream shops. This house is also conveniently located for anyone who wants to explore around San Luis Obispo, which has a great farmers market and lots of cool restaurants. Mario was very pleasant to work with and we had great time.

Quiet two days doing nothing

Guest: Tarzan (Taft, CA.)
Date of Stay: 05/18/11 Review Submitted: 05/21/11

My wife and I spent our 26th anniversary here. It was so quiet, nothing but waves and typical beach sounds. We found the food at 'The Custom House' to be excellent; the service as well. We indeed look forward to another time when we can be there again. Our sincere 'thanks' to Mario and all involved with our stay.

Owner response:We were so happy to share our beach house on such a memorable event. Thanks again for the kind remarks. COme see us again. Mario

Perfect week

Guest: sue (sacramento)
Date of Stay: 11/09/10 Review Submitted: 11/17/10

I rented this cottage for a lovely week in November and enjoyed the perfect weather that Avila has to offer. I was joined by various family members during that time and each person fell in love with this little slice of paradise. This house feels (and is) like Avila before the 1992 oil spill; it was saved by it's hillside location. It has the original (refinished) knotty pine walls, new carpeting and updated furniture; very clean but definitely a beach cottage. Those looking for new and contemporary should look to the condos down the hill in the middle of the town of Avila. The owner was great to deal with and very accomodating. The kitchen was well equipped, cozy and workable. The master bedroom enjoys the same wonderful view as the living area and one sleeps well in the very comfortable bed and nice linens. Avila is regaining it's personality since the spill and is alive with sealife! We will definitely be back. Thank you for sharing your magical little cottage!

Owner response:Thank you so much for the review. Mario

Avila Beach House

Guest: Al (Phoenix)
Date of Stay: 08/04/10 Review Submitted: 08/13/10

We went for a wedding. The weather was chilly for my thin Arizona blood, but the beach house was nice with a nice view. The bathroom floor was squishy by the toliet. Water has gotten under the linoleum. Beds were clean and comfy and carpets had just been shampooed. The cabinets were filled with things that probably need to be discarded ie old spices etc. as there was no place to put the food we brought so we just put it in and on top of the frig. I wiped some food off inside the frig on the light cover that made the frig. smell like fish. I put a baking soda box in it to help absorb the odors. It would have been very helpful to have an address posted outside as the numbers are not sequential. However, the owner told us which house when we called. Thank heavens it was painted yellow. Hopefully my security deposit will be returned soon.

Owner response:Candace, We sincerely apologize for the soft linolem near the toilet. We have since totally remodeled the bathroom including new toilet and travertine flooring. We have retrained our cleaners to perge outdated items from the kitchen and since removed many unused items that were cluttering the cabinets. We have added a new 16 X 12 deck on the front of the house, cut trees for better visability and installed numbers on the house. Thanks again for helping us improve the experience we offer. Sincerely, Mario

2009 Thanksgiving

The rental was great to stay at although it is cozy. The view on the front deck of the ocean is great. The owners are great to work with and the place was very clean when we arrived. This is one of the best deals in Avila especially if you have two kids (one in the second bedroom and the other on the couch). The house is set back from the street and is a little hard to find at first. We stayed a full week and the house was a great base from which to explore the coast.
