Spacious Studio Apartment, newly renovated apartment located on second floor of a 3 family brownstone on a beautiful quiet tree-lined block in the Historic District of Stuyvesant Heights in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Small refrigerator, microwave oven, 1 television with cable, hardwood floors, lots of natural lighting.
Dance/Yoga (360/sq. ft.) studio with mirrored walls + full bathroom (92/sq. ft) (by appointment only). We can make arrangements for private classes from a wide variety of New York dance and yoga instructors (Please give ample notice of dates and type of lessons requested).
Four different subway lines. 10-15 min. subway ride to lower Manhattan. PayPal and Credit Cards are accepted for reservations.
Location: 10 minutes away from the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, Brooklyn's Children Museum, Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), Brooklyn Museum of Art, Prospect Park, Prospect Park Zoo and the Brooklyn Promenade. 20 minutes away from the South Street Seaport (10 mins), Chelsea Piers (15 mins). Visit the Empire State Building (20 mins), Chinatown and Little Italy (15 mins), Times Square (20 mins), Wall Street (10 mins) Broadway, Museums and the Theatre District. Shopping in areas such as Soho, Park Avenue, 5th Avenue, and Madison Avenue. Catch ferry to Ellis Island/the Statute of Liberty.
Sleeping Arrangements: This studio apartment has a Queen sized bed and a Full sized futon that easily converts to a bed.
The Queen sized bed comfortably accommodates 2 adults.
The Full sized futon can accommodate 2 adults.

I wanted to take my wife for a short vacation in New York since she had never been there. While I was looking for a budget hotel in Manhattan (yeah right!) I took a chance on homeaway.com and found Ray's studio apartment in Brooklyn. Ray was very nice and helpful during the booking process and also after we arrived. He allowed us to check-in early since out flight arrived in the morning. He also gave us ideas about where to eat and a good general overview of the neighborhood. The apartment is on the second floor of their brownstone building in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn. If you have problems climbing stairs then you might want to find another place to stay but then again you won't be able to use the local subway stop, either. The apartment had a queen bed (the photo shows a futon but there is an actual bed) and a futon that can be also used. A small window A/C unit worked fine and kept the unit reasonably cool during the hot July days. The apartment was clean and comfortable and it was perfect for our needs. The mini-fridge also was nice to keep bottled water cold and handy. The shower had plenty of hot water. The building was quiet and we were never disturbed while we slept. The neighborhood felt reasonably safe and it was only three blocks to the Nostrand Ave. subway station. A single woman might not feel safe late at night by herself but we had no problems. The people we talked to in the neighborhood were friendly which made our trip even more enjoyable. The easy access to the A and C trains was very nice since those trains serve many of the hot tourist areas (Times Square, Chinatown, Central Park, etc…) and it made it easy for us to connect with our LaGuardia airport shuttle bus at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Overall I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Raymond’s apartment to any of my family or friends. We’re planning our next trip to New York with our three kids and I’ll be staying at Ray’s larger apartment (# 174166) which also has stellar reviews.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

Ray and his wife Linda were very nice. The room was clean and comfortable. They told us were the closes subway was. They suggested restaurants, bars and also were we could find convenient stores.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

Ray and his wife were wonderful and went out of their way to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and comfortable. As explained in previous reviews, Ray took the time to ensure we knew which subway to take to get to Manhattan. He also suggested restaurants and bars that we could try. The subway is only two blocks away. We had an unexpected flight cancellation and Ray graciously allowed us to stay an extra day on very short notice. This was our first time to New York and one that we will never forget. Next time we take a trip to New York we plan on staying at Ray's.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

This was a perfect place to start our exploration of New York City (August 28 - September 4, 2010). Raymond (the owner of the appartment) was very helpful and always available. The appartment is located very close to the subway (A, C line). Just 15 minutes away from Manhattan and also close to all interesting places in Brooklyn. This will save you a lot of time. The appartment is clean and it is a quiet and safe neighbourhood. Don't miss Ms. Dahlia's Cafe just a few steps away from the appartment.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

We stayed there July 12-16, 2010 and it was great. Raymond was very nice and helpful regarding where to get onto the subway and what we needed to know. We were a short walk to the subway and found it easily accessible to downtown. The place was very clean and comfortable to stay in. We really enjoyed our stay and have a great and affordable place to stay made it even better. Thanks again Raymond for your help and we look forward to going to NYC again and staying at one of Raymonds Homeaways! Only a few short blocks to the Nostrand subway station on the blue line (trains A & C) means you're minutes away from Wall Street, Greenwich Village, Penn Station, ... even Columbus Circle and the upper west side. Very convenient to be so close to the A and C line. The apartment is in a beautiful old brownstone on a quiet street. Around the corner is Ms. Dahlia's, perfect for your first coffee of the day, on your way to the subway. The apartment is nothing fancy, but it's clean, it's bright (gorgeous back yard out the windows) and it's in an area that would feel perfectly safe for even a single woman. Thanks so much to Ray - we didn't get to see much of you, but appreciate your availability and quick response!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.
