My girlfriend and I stayed here for four nights in December, even though the pictures on the website are beautiful they don't do the place justice. Jennifer, the owner, filled us in on the great local spots and Cava Restaurant was our favorite. We walked to the beach and coffee every morning, this is a very safe and cute neighborhood. The cottage was easy to get to right off the freeway (noise was not a problem for us). We happened to get some beautiful sunny days and lounged in the yard and BBQed, which was pretty awesome for December. Overall amazing stay, and we will spread the word to our friends and family!

Ok, I feel guilty giving this place anything less than a 5+ star rating. The owner has overlooked absolutely nothing. Everything you could possibly need during your stay is provided from scissors to flashlights to air freshner. Full sized fridge. Beautifully decorated. This is not just a bunch of left overs from Aunt Sophie's house that were thrown together to make a rental. Clean, lots of towels. Great totally private yard just for the rental complete with picnic table and lounge chairs. We were there in winter but I saw boogie boards and beach towels and chairs. Easy walking distance to walk into the "town" of Montecito for breakfast or dinner. Off street parking spot for one car. There is nothing more the owner could do to make this place better. Now for the bad news. This place backs up to a freeway. I'm talking right behind it. When really big trucks went by the bed actually shook. The first night it really bothered me (CA resident- my knee jerk reaction is I'm thinking earthquake over and over). Got more used to it by second night but I would not want to be here in warmer months when windows are open. The pull out bed was fine for a child but had a big lump that would bother an adult. I might rent again. Not sure. Price was fair and that is saying a lot for a location like Montecito.
Owner response:Thank you for all the nice things you said about the cottage. I don't get complaints about noise ever. It is true that if you want to be close to the beach in Santa Barbara you will be near the train tracks or the freeway. There is just no getting around that trade off. Best, Jennifer

We had an awesome time at Jennifer's cottage in Montecito. It's very close to the beach which was ideal for the kids. They are still talking about it. Also, since our kids have bed time around 7:30pm, it was critical for us to be able to cook and relax in the cottage. That said, we did take advantage of the close proximity to "downtown" Montecito where we picked up a few pizzas. We ended up extending our stay and certainly would love to come back at some point in the future. Santa Barbara and Montecito just have the best weather in California.
Owner response:I am so glad you enjoyed your stay and got to relax. Please do come back again! Best, Jennifer

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage and the location could not be better. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and Jennifer was very accommodating. The location is perfect and we easily walked to the restaurants, shops, and butterfly beach. The patio area is private, large, and secure which was a plus for us since we have bikes and did not have to worry about where to store them. Would return without hesitation, and look forward to our next trip.

We recently stayed at Jennifer's cottage and found it to be the ideal place for our Santa Barbara trip. Here are a few highlights: 1) The cottage is immaculate. The pictures are an accurate representation of this relaxing oasis. There is enough space to comfortably fit a family of four. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is a private walkway and backyard so the visitors feel as if they are staying in a private hideaway. The kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook and there is a washer/dryer for those who are planning a longer trip. We definitely enjoyed dining in the backyard and relaxing in the beautiful garden. 2) Jenny and her family are the perfect hosts. They are responsive to your needs and always greet you with a warm smile. They helped make our vacation perfect. 3) The location of the cottage in Montecito is ideal. We liked the quiet and secure neigborhood. Butterfly Beach and the Coast Village district are both within walking distance. What more could you ask for? A beautiful beach, fantastic restaurants and shopping are just steps away. All the Santa Barbara attractions are just a short drive away too. 4) We have used VRBO before with pleasant results. This trip, however, topped them all. We look forward to returning soon.

The property is absolutely beautiful, very well maintained and everything is exactly like in the pictures here. Jennifer and her family are wonderful hosts. They really make sure that you have your privacy and they really go all out to make you comfortable. The cottage is in the back of the main house and is very nicely fenced off from the rest of the house. Jennifer lets you park your car in their driveway which is really nice of her. My wife and daughter stayed at this cottage for six weeks and they loved the stay. The cottage had everything from Maytag washer/dryer to every little thing in the kitchen so they never missed their own house. Pros: 1. Easy access to Hwy 101; 2. Walking distance to the Coast Village with several wonderful restaurants and watering holes (that get celebrity guests!), Starbucks, grocery store, bank, and art galleries; 3. Walking distance to one of the best family beaches (Butterfly beach) in Santa Barbara and great surfing locations nearby; 4. Very close (5-10min) by car to State Street which is the shopping and food district in Santa Barbara; 5. Very close (10min avg) by car to all attractions in Santa Barbara - the mission, etc.; 6. Very safe and upscale location; and 7. Cottage has everything you need for a home away from home. Cons (very insignificant): 1. Some traffic noise in the night from the highway; 2. Wireless internet was patchy but if you have a 3G connection or an IPAD, you don't need it; and 3. No dishwasher - you may need it only for long stays. There are some really nice restaurants nearby so not a big deal at all. Overall, Jennifer's cottage is a steal - several times better than staying in those pricey hotels nearby! I was skeptical about this booking on the internet in the beginning as I had heard horror stories of misleading pictures and other con jobs but Jennifer has changed my perspective completely for the good.

Enjoyed our two-night stay at this HGTV-worthy cottage. Though near the freeway, it was as quiet as could be. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything we needed as we like to cook and the decor was awesome, very upscale. Jenny is right on premise and there to help. It is very private on the grounds of the main house with a parking space provided in the driveway. I really appreciated how very spotless everything was. The location is very good--walk to town, walk to beach, easy freeway access. Can't say enough. Dined at Cava and had the best fajitas on Coast Village Rd (walkable). Mary Louise and Raymond, Chicago

Great location, great property and amenities, but most importantly - Jennifer, the owner. Not only was she understanding and helpful when we had a scheduling issue due to a personal emergency, she also made sure that our stay was pleasant and enjoyable. From furniture to silverware, and the interior design to all the great advices she gave us about the area and places to see, everything spelled a personal touch and care. Highly recommend it - you won't regret renting for a few days or more.
Owner response:So glad you enjoyed yourselves hope very much to see you both again .Jennifer
