About the owner: This is my retirement home, but family demands required I temporarily move to Lake Arrowhead. It wouldn't be good to leave it empty so I decided to rent it to families to let them enjoy the same environment that my family enjoy. I am a professional and my career was in corporate tax with large corporations. However, I always had time to visit Yosemite or its surrounding to hike and backpack. My goal was always to move near Yosemite.
Why the Owner Chose Bass Lake: Cascadel House is located in the most beautiful historic valley that has retained a secluded piece of the Sierra. Most Sierra foothills or historic area are overbuilt and very busy. We, in Cascadel Woods, have no commercial enterprises, traffic within the valley is only there for a purpose or is a resident. My first day after moving in, I walked across the bridge down to the cascades. Truly, I felt I was in a beautiful state park. Even the sounds of children playing brought me to that feeling.
The Unique Benefits at this House: Across the lane in front of my deck is a 40-acre open space area with a huge meadow, trails and an all-year creek. Across the meadow is a gravel/dirt road created well before 1880, but dedicated to the reigning county in that year. It is so peaceful to walk the community trails and the dirt road or hike the trail in the national forest that surround our valley. There is a two-volume trail guide just for horseback riders. Residents ride their mountain or dirt bikes up Autumn Road to explore the miles and miles of trails, Whiskey Falls, Shut-eye Peak and so on. As an avid hiker, there are unlimited places to explore. That makes me excited to begin my day.
In the winter, skiing at Badger is about an hour away; skiing at China Peak is about 1.5 hours away. There is ice skating in Yosemite Valley and at Tenaya Lodge in Fish Camp. After a snow (which usually melts in a few weeks), residents make cross country ski trails and do some sledding. Cross country skiing, snow shoeing, and a snow park are available before entering the Yosemite south entrance as well. Imagine hiking through the snow in Mariposa Grove in the winter. The clear air and blue skies set off the big trees with striking definition.
And then the wildlife. Healthy in their natural environment not being fed by humans. We have a bear, lots of deer, a mountain lion, squirrels, quail, raccoon, and many birds.
Cascadelwoods.org logs the wildlife and the history of our special area. Please visit it. You will be impressed.
