Location: Bass Lake, Yosemite Area, Gold Country & High Sierra, California, USA (1-Hour from Fresno and FAT (Fresno International Airport))
Accommodations: Roomy Bright Mountain House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths (Sleeps 10)
Located in the exact center of California. Minutes from Yosemite, national forests, John Muir Wilderrness for hiking, dirt biking, 4-W driving, etc. Yet, 3-4 hours to San Francisco, Los Angeles or the Pacific Ocean.
Neighborly, but private home in valley of former dude ranch. Spacious, sunny and light with landscaping including lush lawn for children to play safely while parents watch from the kitchen or deck. Piano, ukele, bongos as well. There areas for volley ball, baseball and basket ball.
Surrounded by National Forest, the community is composed of custom homes varying from multiple acres to 1/3 acre lots located along narrow paved roads winding through beautiful cedars, black oaks and pines. 40 acres has been designated open space, which has tree-lined all year Whiskey Creek sandwiched between 2 beautiful meadows. Abundant wildlife and wildflowers. Morning and evening walks to the cascades and the Indian grinding holes is a wonderful way to feel the Sierra.
Mariposa Grove (Giant Sequoias) at the South gate of Yosemite National Park is 35 minutes away. Historic Sierra National Scenic Byway only 5 minutes away. Both offering history, hiking, mountain biking, off-road vehicle trails/roads, fishing, hunting in season and swimming in the community's Whiskey Creek pools, or at tranquil Manzanita Lake (15 minutes) or Bass Lake (also 15 minutes away). Manzanita Lake allows non-motorized boats and Bass Lake the full spectrum of jet skis, water skiing, sailing and family house boats for day use.
Events include dancing and eating at Bass Lake's outdoor Jazz on the Lake every Friday night. Not limited to age. Wawona Hotel has a pianist that plays requests and Saturday nights holds a BBQ and square dancing for all ages. Other festivals and art events are continually provided for tourists.
Horse back riding is available at Fish Camp (30 minutes), groups hikes and nature walks are also available as well as tours of the Sierra Visit National Scenic Byway or Yosemite Valley.
For those strenuous hikers, the Scenic Byway is the starting point for a trans-Sierra hike to Mammoth. One day each way if fit. For more casual hiking or biking, the Scenic Byway offers less than 5-mile hikes to lakes or peaks showing the beauty of our many granite domes. Oh yes, Yosemite is ready to show you its grandeur too. 35 minutes to Mariposa's splendid trees and history; 20 minutes to historic Wawona Hotel and another 45 minutes to either Glacier Point or the Valley.
Snow sports' enthusiasts can enjoy the family friendly slopes at Badger Pass or the challenge of Sierra Summit. Both 1 1/2 hours away (max). Ski rentals are reliable. Snow shoeing or cross country skiing up Peckinpaw Road (Yes, Sam Peckinpaw grew up here). Historical cabins, wildlife and sheer beauty will be experienced. Snow does cover the Cascadel Valley, but cannot be depended upon. When it is present, people ski along the road and in the 40-acre open space. There are two large LL Bean Snow Tubes for guests.
Relax or be as busy as you would like. Great Mexican restaurant in North Fork, more formal dining at Bass Lake. You will surely enjoy visiting the little mountain town of North Fork for movie rentals or groceries. It takes you back 30 years. The Sierra ambience is waiting for you. Everything I have ever wanted is here in Cascadel and I would really like to share it with you.

Guests 7/15 I lived vicariously hearing of their adventures and they were very adventurous. Plus, Greg tinkered around the house fixing the watering system, spot cleaning the carpet upstairs and making suggestions. Very upbeat and endearing. Every home needs their energy. Thank you for being guests.

We did alot of cooking in the kitchen and grilling on the deck. Took many walks to the falls. We spent three days in Yosemite and my kids shall have memories forever. We rented a boat on Bass Lake and what a hoot. We ate at The Forks restaurant and loved it. The fireworks on the lake on Friday night were amazing. Wildlife watching from the twin bedroom was really fun

August 12th to August 20th 2009 Suzann we had a wonderful time. We wrote in your guest book about some of it. How could you not be able to relax there... It is sooo peaceful, calm, and awe inspiring to just look out the window. The children enjoyed every minute. Especially my 5 yr old granddaughter. She played the piano, rolled in the grass, up and down and around on the deck and stairs, then we went to a place she could walk wayyyyyy.. out in the water all by herself, (Manzinita Lake, and the river at Yosemite) the sparkly water and sand...and the hikes to the falls.. she knew the way and would lead us there. The younger two, 3yr and 18months also found things that fascinated them: the pools at the falls, the lakes, the wild life in the yard and of course the piano. I think the whole valley knew we were there: we aren't a very quiet bunch, noisy but happy lots of good laughs and memories from this vacation. My family had some conflicting work schedules soo there was someone coming and going, but we all managed to be together for 2 whole days. Thanks again for all the information on where and what to do,your directions where prefect, and your home is very comfortable and it was great being able to stay there. The Zepeda Family

Hi Suzann, We had a wonderful time. Here is the map of the route we took the first day, it might help others you just have to change the start address MAP On the second day it was very crowded inside the park so after visiting Bridalveil falls we went to less popular places and did some night time fishing at Bass lake. The third day was when we had the most fun boating at Bass lake. The home at Cascadel exceeded our expectations! and I will definitely recommend it to colleagues and friends. Gopu

Hi Suzanne, I just logged into my email to send you a message when I saw your email. We had a wonderful time this last weekend. Your house was so beautiful that we didn't really want to leave. We were amazed that it was completely stocked with everything we needed like utensils, books, board games etc.. I am sure to recommend your house to any of my friends planning a trip to Yosemite. Your instructions on possible activities was also very helpful to us - otherwise we would have wasted quite a bit of time. We left the keys under the carpet exactly where we found them. Please let me know if there is any other formalities to be completed. Do also let me know if I can be of any help to you by posting reviews or comments about the house on any website etc about our experience and i will be more than happy to do so. Regards, Jai.

June 22-25, 2008 5 adults, 3 children What did we do? Hiking in the Park. This house is outstanding. Thank you very much for your house. Everything was perfect. Your deck has been a great place for our family to sit down, share a meal and have a lot of conversation, which was outstanding as we do not see each other very often. Thanks again, The Zlatins
