Great group of guys 50's - reunion

Guest: Doug
Date of Stay: 02/16/12 Review Submitted: 02/24/12

Message from a member of an annual reunion group of college classmates probably about their 30th year. Suzann, I am back to work today. We had a wonderfull time at the Cascadel House. You really have thought of everything, there was even wood in the bin next to the stove. Just a dusting of snow when we arrived which melted away. We found the waterfalls, beautiful. Made 3 trips up the mountain, Sky Ranch road, Beasore Road, and up toward the Whiskey creek camp ground. Got in some good four-wheel'n and did do some plinking (shooting) way up high. Thanks much.. Beautiful house. We may give you a call again. Doug

A Mountain Oasis

Guest: Russ (Orange County, CA)
Date of Stay: 12/28/11 Review Submitted: 01/03/12

We visited Cascadel for a week-long after Christmas New Year's celebration with our kids and grandchildren. One of our goals was to show the grandkids snow, but mother nature did not cooperate in that regard, as temps were cold in the mornings and reaching mid-sixties by afternoon. This turned out great for driving; driving to and from Yosemite from Cascadel in the snow would be a challenge. But as it turned out, we experienced pleasant and scenic drives each day we visited Yosemite (45 min drive on good roads to south gate). The house itself is situated in a quiet mountain neighborhood a good 4-5 minute drive off the main road. We could hear the nearby waterfall from the house; the hike to the falls taking about 5 minutes....a beautiful view stretching for miles. The house itself has all the amenities we needed including a wonderful master bedroom suite with huge jacuzzi tub. My daughter played the piano after dinner each evening. We had plenty of room, even with 6 adults and 4 kids. Suzanne was very accommodating and a pleasure to work with; there are directions for anything and everything one needs. In retrospect I am really happy that this was the first time in about 50 years there was no snow in either Cascadel nor Yosemite. I just wish that Yosemite had a plan for non-snowy winters...it might happen again someday.

Lovely Time

Guest: Helen (Pleasant Hill, CA)
Date of Stay: 09/24/11 Review Submitted: 10/02/11

Spent a week at the Cascadel home at the end of Sept, weather was perfect. Spent several nights eating and socializing on the deck. Got up early one morning and spent the whole day at Yosemite, had forgotten how beautiful it was. The home is well stocked and very comfortable, piano added lots of fun. Bass Lake is a lovely lake, it was quiet and calm while we were there but the fishing at Mammoth Pools is the best the men in our group had experienced for a long time. Suzann is available and very helpful for anything. Our only complaint was the distance to Yosemite, would have liked a couple more days there.

This cabin has everything you need to have a great stay. Just bring yourself and some food. It's open, sleeps plenty and has a DVD and direct TV. The deck is great for watching stars at night. There is a swimming hole near by, it looks like it would be nice but I didn't have time to enjoy it. I guess I'll have to try it next time.

My stay during the month of September

Guest: Peter (Coarsegold CA.)
Date of Stay: 09/16/11 Review Submitted: 09/24/11

We had a great time the for 3 days in Septermber 2011. I planned a group of on/off road motorcyclists (4) to come site see the area. The house was super nice, all accomodations one could possibly want and the peacefulness of the outdoors while sitting on the deck. The home itself was very comfortable, made me personally feel relaxed allowing me to put all personal home life and work aside. It was a rock throw to Yosemite which we rode to on Friday, going to Glacier Point which over looks the Yosemite Valley. On the way back, we went to Bass Lake (Ducci's) for odours, several movies such as the Great Outdoors was filmed here. This is about 15 minutes from the Cabin/House. Saturday, we rode from the house right into the National Forest which borders the house. We were in the high country in a matter of minutes, starting at 4000 feet elevation and reaching 8500 feet. The terrain was beautiful, running streams, green ferns, wild life, what more could we want. The bottom line, because of the location of the home, the activities that surround the home, and what the home provided in regards to accomodations, I have alreday reserved it for another stay in the future. We had just an awesome stay!

I found the condo very adequate for our family. grandparents, children, spouses and grandchildren. The grand kids lofted the loft and had plenty of room to play, the bedrooms were great. Loved the fan over the bed. The kitchen was very well equipped with pots and pans and all the cooking utensils. We BBQ'd every night and had great family dinners. We had easy access to Bass Lake, were we rented a Patio boat and spent most of our time as well as Yosemite and Manzanita. We loved the pools and waterfalls near the house. Very peaceful and quiet vacation. Perfect family time !

Perfect family vacation home!

Date of Stay: 08/07/11 Review Submitted: 08/17/11

My family loved the comfortable decor! Most of our time was spent in the kitchen and dining area, all 8 of us fit well. My little niece loved taking baths in the big tub upstairs! Everything you need is there for you, we just needed food ans clothes. Many condiments were generously left there for our use. We got good use out of the tiny, but just what we needed washer and dryer. The crock pot was great, since it is quite a drive to Yosemite! We made chili and a whole chicken fit in it another night! Loved being able to walk to the creek/swimming hole. It was a beautful hike, the water was very cold! Bass lake was our choice for swimming, the family had a blast there! We felt just isolated enough from the busy city we come from. Thanks Suzann for making our stay comfortable and easy!

Date of Stay: 07/12/11 Review Submitted: 08/05/11

We only stayed 2 days and spent most of that time in the park being a tourist (first time). However, the house was beautiful-spacious-and cozy like home. Could not figure out the 3 tv remotes so we played a game from Suzanns supply and laughed till we cried. Would stay again, in a heartbeat, so we can find the first waterhole (not the falls).

Owner response:Mary, thank you for taking the time to comment. As a result, I created a map to the Pool #1 and a list of steps for the TV and Blue Ray. Wish I were with you to play games. Bet I know which one made you laugh. It is a great game and very educational for kids, that is, if the title doesn't put one off. Really wishing you could visit again.

Fantastic rental property with plenty of space, well equipped & very clean. Added bonus of no cleaning fee! Close enough to Bass Lake, short hike from the house to a beautiful waterfall & natural swimming hole, kids loved it! We hiked to the top of Fresno Dome & were rewarded with panoramic views. We were there for July 4th weekend & watched the fireworks on Bass Lake which was an amazing show! The owner Suzann couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. I would definitely recommend this property for rental purposes.

Owner response:Sinead, Thank you for your review. Your comments will really help future guests recognize what's available. You really packed your stay with activities. How exciting to hear and I bet great for the kids. Come back again, Suzann

A better than home away from home near Yosemite

Guest: Barb (Philadelphia area)
Date of Stay: 06/11/11 Review Submitted: 06/22/11

Look no further than this property if you are looking for a home away from home near Yosemite. The accommodations are roomy, warmly decorated, and stocked with everything for cooking, sporting, and playing games that the heart could desire. The owner went out of her way before and during our visit to answer questions and provide events updates and destination information. The neighborhood feels remote while still being located near all the necessary amenities. My family and I would definitely return again.

Another Great Visit

Guest: Barb & Todd (Tarzana, CA)
Date of Stay: 06/04/11 Review Submitted: 06/12/11

This is the 2nd time we've stayed at Suzann's lovely house and we enjoyed it as much this time as we did last year. We used the fireplace alot, kept toasty warm as it was pretty cold out last week. Even though it rained the first day we were there, we still had a fantastic time. This time we cooked more meals so we wouldn't have to go out and eat. The kitchen is great, fully stocked, had everything we needed to make some great meals. Glacier Pt. was the highlight of our trip. We can't wait to come back and visit again soon. Thanks for everything, Suzann!!

Owner response:Thank for your review Barbara. It pleases me immensely that Sundance was able to romp around in the snow at Glacier Pt. and has healed so nicely. And, that you all enjoyed yourselves so much. Having guests like you is almost as good as being there myself. Looking forwrd to your return. Suzann

This is the first time that we travel with our dogs and this home made it possible!!! The cabin itself is beautiful and there is a ton to do in the surrounding areas (lots to do with the dogs). The cabin has a grassy area next to it, perfect for the dogs, and a deck to keep the dogs contained. The home had lots of commodities (tv, full kitchen, hot tub) and was perfect for our family!!! It is a little far from Yosemite, but definitely worth the drive. Suzann was awesome and kept really good communication with us. She gave us a lot of good information and really helped us plan our trip!! Based on her recommendations, we were able to see amazing sights and really enjoy the area with our dogs. Thanks again for everything!!!!!

Owner response:Hello Ofelia, Thank you for your rev iew. I so enjoyed our association. You were such an exhuberant guest and sharing the places I enjoy was an absolute pleasure. You were super great guests in every respect. Come again, Suzann

Hi Suzann, Just wanted to get back to you personally about our vacation. We had a great time....even the weather cooperated, it only rained and hailed at night, just like in Camelot. We all appreciated your comfortable home and tried to treat it with care. Loved your wood floors. I let our daughter and her husband have the master, since I'm not a happy stair climber, and it was nice to be on the same floor as the kitchen, I spent a lot of my time there! FYI....I did notice that the plates are so big that the spray arm on the DW wouldn't spin so we ended up using the smaller plates....better for portion control anyway! I would have gotten back to you sooner, but Jim was scheduled for surgery at 6am on Monday, so we hardly had a minute from the time we got home. He's doing fine now so I am finally catching up with mail...and.... Thank you for the quick return of our security deposit! I am really hoping our son and family will be able to join us there sometime. On another note...how lucky you are to live at Blue Jay... and have a cabin in the exact center of California!! Both are vacation paradises. Is there a story there? That is a great picture on your kitchen counter, I assume it's you with your hubby? It helped us feel like we were staying with friends. My grandson wrote in your guest book, I never had time to read it, but I know he loved being there... ( and that he's used to spellcheck.....) Until next time, Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. Sincerely , Jan, Jim and family

Our three generation family of eight was able to relax and prepare meals with plenty of elbowroom. The decor was clean, comfortable and the piano made it feel it like home. We took our lunch on the two days we drove to Yosemite and ate all other meals at the house. Knowing Suzanne provided a Crockpot made it easy to plan meals that would be ready as soon as we returned from the two trips we made to Yosemite. There were plenty of pans, dishes, towels, soaps & paper goods for our every need. The kids loved the yard for tossing a ball or frisbee. This home is everything it says in the description.

We had a wonderful time visiting the house and Yosemite in April. The house was beautiful and the neighborhood was wonderful and quiet. The kids had a blast walking down to the waterfalls at the end of the road with grandpa and sleeping in the loft like a slumber party. The adults enjoyed the peacefulness of the mountains, and grandma and grandpa enjoyed the hot tub Saturday night! The house had plenty of space for all 10 of us and there was so much to do we were able to have a weekend without "technology" like we had hoped for! Thank you for such a beautiful weekend!

April 5th to April 8th 3 adults and 8 children – left the house in excellent condition including home made tortilla soup in the frig since she knew I would be visiting Cascadel over the weekend. Thank you Ermina. It was deeeeliciious! Dear Suzann, We all definitely had a great time! Your cabin was very welcoming and comfortable for all of us-of all ages. Since it was our first time staying in Bass Lake, we would definitely love to come back and explore more of the area. Perhaps again this summer so we can enjoy the falls in your community and activities on the lake. The drive to Yosemite wasn't bad either-it is even more beautiful in the spring with the snow capped mountains and rushing waters. We enjoyed taking lots of pictures. Unfortunately we weren't able to go back on Thursday or Friday since it snowed, but playing in the snow was just as fun for the kids. It was the first time most of us experienced a true winter (or spring shall I say) wonderland. It was beautiful watching the snowfall. Luckily we packed our full snow gear as well. I can't thank you enough for arranging us to stay in your cabin. We all have memories of a great time. We will definitely reserve with you again the next time we plan a vacation in the area. 4 days was not enough! Sincerely, Irmina

Winter Wonderland in the Fall!

Guest: kim (Fremont, CA)
Date of Stay: 11/20/10 Review Submitted: 11/30/10

We spent the week of Thanksgiving 2010 at this well equipped, comfortable cabin. We had about 15 inches of very unexpected snow. We were snug in the warm cabin as we watched the gigantic snowflakes fall through all the wonderful big windows. My husband tried his hand at quite a bit of shoveling. We were "trapped" for one day - no chains or snow tires. It was a great oppotunity to simply relax, play games and enjoy the ambience of this lovely home. We even played a new game - Reminiscing. It is a game for "people over the age of 30". Needless to say, our 27 year old daughter got everything right and showed us old folks how to play - ha! It was a wonderful week. My 83 year old mother sat for 2 hours watching the melting chunks of snow fall from the trees. It was better than any Hollywood movie. Thanks Suzann for sharing your lovely home with us!

Lovely and Spacious!

Guest: Lois (San Francisco)
Date of Stay: 09/24/10 Review Submitted: 10/01/10

My extended family and I loved our stay in your delightful Cascadel home. As many guests commented it's so well organized and equipped - for families and friends with children of all ages including ours in which the youngest are young adults. We especially appreciated the spaciousness throughout - in the living room, dining area and balcony, for us to relax. And the spacious kitchen made it easy for many hands to make light work. Plus the cooks were the first to spot from the kitchen window the does and fawns who visited daily. We took advantage of the location at the south end of Yosemite to visit the Wawona area, with the Mariposa Grove and the Wawona Hotel dining room a highlight. We also took a day to explore Yosemite Valley - it's a drive but a beautiful one. The greatest compliment: our family had not traveled together previously and enjoyed it so much we decided we'd like to so in future - to more national parks - can't go wrong! Hmmm...will check out how close are you to Kings Canyon and Sequoia! And who could not revisit Yosemite again and again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this wonderful home! We packed so much into the three days we were there and wished we could have stayed longer. All of the comforts of home were there Suzann is very thoughtful and has thought of everything. The wireless internet was great for my teenage daughter who can't live without texting (no cell reception). We visited Whiskey Creek Falls which is quite close to the house and although the road was bumpy and dusty it was well worth the drive the falls are gorgeous! Yosemite was amazing, we will definitley have to come back again so we can see more of the park - it is huge. The hike to Vernal Falls was outstanding and Glacier Point really gives a perspective of just how large and spectacular the park is. We also enjoyed the local pizza place in North Fork just about 5 or 6 minutes from the house - very nice people working there and excellent pizza. Thank you so much we really enjoyed our stay. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that loves to explore the outdoors or just wants to relax in a very nice home in a very peaceful setting.

Awesome Vacation House

Date of Stay: 05/29/10 Review Submitted: 06/07/10

Dear Suzanne, I wanted to write this review and thank you for everything. We stayed at this house from 5/29 – 6/4 (7 nights). We had two families (one from Phoenix, AZ and other from Jersey City, NJ) in our trip with 4 adults and 4 kids. This house was absolutely perfect for us as it provided all the space and comfort we needed. The house was very clean when we arrived. It had everything we wanted and it felt like we were in our own homes. We like to prepare our meals and the kitchen was filled with everything we needed to prepare meals. We packed lot of stuff we did not use because Suzanne had it in her Kitchen. Our kids enjoyed all the musical instruments very much in the dining room. There were plenty of bath towels in the bathrooms. There is enough space for 6 adults and 4 children to sleep very comfortably and there are two cribs for little ones as well. This House is located about 45 minutes from Yosemite South Entrance, from south entrance it’s about 1.5 hours drive to the Valley and also 1.5 hours drive to Glacier Point. Bass Lake is very close about 30 minutes from this house. This house is situated in the middle of woods and the surrounding is very quite. On our first day we saw a deer while driving in the neighborhood. We would definitely consider staying in this house again and would recommend it to others who are planning to visit this area. Once again thank you Suzanne for making out trip so memorable with your house!!

Date of Stay: 05/16/10 Review Submitted: 05/23/10

My husband and I spent 3 fabulous nights at Suzann's spacious house and the experience was amazing. Her house was so clean and uncluttered unlike other properties we've stayed at before. Suzann's house is awesome, has everything you need to make your Yosemite visit perfect. We had never been to Yosemite before and it's just breathtaking. Suzann's house is in the perfect location, away from the crowds and yet close to the park. We also spent some time at Bass Lake and it was just beautiful. I brought a book to read but didn't read 1 page; just enjoyed sitting on the deck taking in the amazing scenery. The creek by the house is a 1-2 minute walk and the waterfalls were gushing when we were there. For those of you that like hiking, there's so many places to go and for those of you that just want to relax and do nothing, this is the perfect place. We will definitely be going back again to visit, hopefully soon.

This was our first all family vacation and we had a wonderful, wonderful time. The house was beautiful, spotless clean, comfortable and spacious. Everything from the best magazines to the fluffy towels in the bathrooms, it was perfect. The kitchen was stocked with everything you would ever need to prepare meals, and we are a family that loves to cook. We were looking for something to put our water in for a hike..they had water bottles. When my son got a scratch, there was a fully stocked first aid kit, everything was perfect. Thank you for providing the stage to create lifetime family memories.

Two families - one from England and one from Australia - stayed in this great house. It's a wonderful location in the middle of the woods, so quiet and peaceful. Yosemite gate is about 45 minutes away, Yosemite valley about 1 1/2 hours - so great for a day trip. House is ideally set up for two families. The view from the main living area is wonderful - we enjoyed an ever changing scene from verdant spring to foggy and then to a snowy wonderland. The owner helped sort out a problem we had with house very promptly and showed great concern to ensure all was well.

I wish I knew how many things you had there and I would not have packed so much extra stuff. We brought all kinds of hair dryers, curling irons, and all those things which were already there. The house was wonderfully stocked and it was a pleasure to keep it clean. We also saw 4 deer in your yard on the side of the house. Just wonderful. I wished we had been able to spend more time there. Thank you again for everything, and I am sure we will rent this place again. Just loved it. Sara

Especially my 5 yr old granddaughter. She played the piano, rolled in the grass, up and down and around on the deck and stairs, then we went to a place she could walk wayyyyyy.. out in the water all by herself, (Manzinita Lake, and the river at Yosemite) the sparkly water and sand...and the hikes to the falls.. she knew the way and would lead us there. The younger two, 3yr and 18months also found things that fascinated them: the pools at the falls, the lakes, the wild life in the yard and of course the piano. I think the whole valley knew we were there: we aren't a very quiet bunch, noisy but happy lots of good laughs and memories from this vacation. My family had some conflicting work schedules soo there was someone coming and going, but we all managed to be together for 2 whole days. Thanks again for all the information on where and what to do,your directions where prefect, and your home is very comfortable and it was great being able to stay there. The Zepeda Family

Guests 7/15 I lived vicariously hearing of their adventures and they were very adventurous. Plus, Greg tinkered around the house fixing the watering system, spot cleaning the carpet upstairs and making suggestions. Very upbeat and endearing. Every home needs their energy. Thank you for being guests.

Guests 7/15 to 7/22/09 Comments: Hi Suzann, We had a fantastic week at the Cascadel cabin. It is beautiful. All of the ammenities that you could ask for. We did alot of cooking in the kitchen and grilling on the deck. Took many walks to the falls. We spent three days in Yosemite and my kids shall have memories forever. We rented a boat on Bass Lake and what a hoot. We ate at The Forks restaurant and loved it. The fireworks on the lake on Friday night were amazing. Wildlife watching from the twin bedroom was really fun

The house is wonderful, very well equipped, to the level of the little things that make you happy... The whiskey cascades were too tough for us this time of year - with young kids, but overall we had a great time hiking in the area and the Yosemite. Thanks Suzann for all the tips and care.

April 17-19'09 -- We (3 families with kids) spend a great, relaxing weekend in the mountain house. The house had all the amenities in kitchen , bedrooms etc. We cooked all our meals at home, barbecued , hiked a lot in the nearby trails. Kids had a blast in the jacuzzi. The water hole and the water falls near the house are awesome. It was just a great relaxation to just by the water falls and watch the sunset. The drive to Yosemite is about an hour or so and we spend one day doing that. Thanks to Suzann for the directions, tips on other activities as well. Overall we had a wonderful getaway from our daily hectic lifes and came back fully recharged :) Definitely on our list for places to go back to.

The house is perfect and Suzann is a gem. Cascadel is a beautiful neighborhood with incredible natural land features. The house is casual and easy to tidy up, yet comfortable and perfect for a larger group. We were able to get away, but still be close to Yosemite, restaurants, and other activities. I'd love to go back soon! Thanks, Suzann!

Suzann, Your place is such a great location! We walked to the nearby stream and waterfalls. Our whole family loved the house. We prepared most of our meals there with ease in the large kitchen and outdoor bbq. The best thing was the wireless internet access for our four computers. We were still able to play video games, check email and read our msn news. Thanks for all your suggestions on food, hikes and entertainment. You are a great host!

Hi Suzanne, I just logged into my email to send you a message when I saw your email. We had a wonderful time this last weekend. Your house was so beautiful that we didn't really want to leave. We were amazed that it was completely stocked with everything we needed like utensils, books, board games etc.. I am sure to recommend your house to any of my friends planning a trip to Yosemite. Your instructions on possible activities was also very helpful to us - otherwise we would have wasted quite a bit of time. We left the keys under the carpet exactly where we found them. Please let me know if there is any other formalities to be completed. Do also let me know if I can be of any help to you by posting reviews or comments about the house on any website etc about our experience and i will be more than happy to do so. Regards, Jai.

Hi Suzann, We had a wonderful time. Here is the map of the route we took the first day, it might help others you just have to change the start address MAP On the second day it was very crowded inside the park so after visiting Bridalveil falls we went to less popular places and did some night time fishing at Bass lake. The third day was when we had the most fun boating at Bass lake. The home at Cascadel exceeded our expectations! and I will definitely recommend it to colleagues and friends. Gopu

June 22-25, 2008 5 adults, 3 children What did we do? Hiking in the Park. This house is outstanding. Thank you very much for your house. Everything was perfect. Your deck has been a great place for our family to sit down, share a meal and have a lot of conversation, which was outstanding as we do not see each other very often. Thanks again, The Zlatins
