Spend your vacation living in close harmony with nature in this beautiful octagonal oceanfront home. The home offers two large, nicely decorated bedrooms- each with its own private full bathroom. There is one bedroom upstairs and one downstairs for complete privacy.

The upstairs bedroom is huge- more like a studio apartment than just a bedroom. With screened windows all around, you will feel you are living among the trees. This bedroom has its own mini-kitchen, refrigerator, full bathroom, and a safe for valuables. In addition to the queen bed, this room also has a convertible sofa bed (with real mattresses) that can sleep two more. In this room you will awake to gorgeous sunrises over the ocean, perhaps with howler monkeys in the trees outside.

The downstairs bedroom is conveniently located at ground level for those who may prefer to avoid stairs. The windows are screened to allow all the ocean breezes to flow right through. Wake up and step outside to the covered patio, where you will enjoy your morning coffee with a peaceful view of the ocean- just steps away! The entire home is set like a jewel in a dramatic rock formation on the edge of the ocean. Iguanas sun themselves amid the tropical plantings, and monkeys often can be seen in the trees.

The home is located in a private, quiet area with only three other homes nearby. Stroll down the road to find a sparkling river that empties into the ocean. Before that a lovely 8 foot waterfall cascades into a clean, fresh-water swimming lagoon with a rope-swing for the kids. Kids of all ages will also love exploring the tide pools among the rock formations.

Of course, there is also a beautiful sandy beach for those who prefer sunbathing, snorkeling, or ocean swimming. Good news for fishing enthusiasts- this is one of the best fishing spots around, so bring your gear! Do you prefer surfing? A quick 5-minute walk from the house will take you to the Los Cedros surf break (boards may be rented in town).

One of the best attributes of this rental is that you can avoid the expense of a rental car because the local shuttle bus runs close by the house. And if you like, it is a easy 20 minutes walk to Montezuma. Catch the bus in one direction to get to Montezuma with its shops, restaurants, and nightlife. In the other direction you will find the small sleepy village of Cabuya, and the world-famous Cabo Blanco Absolute Nature Preserve. Whether you prefer wildlife viewing or snorkeling, surfing or fishing, nightlife or peace and quiet- Las Rocas truly offers something for everyone. When you close your eyes and picture your perfect vacation, Las Rocas has what you dream about.

We just returned from Las Rocas and are still daydreaming about our amazing vacation! The house has a lovely view of the ocean with coconut palm trees and lime trees in the front yard! Three howler monkeys visited us everyday -What a treat! The fishing off of Las Rocas is supposed to be the best in the area! We snorkeled at Tortugua, ziplined the rainforest canopy, visited the waterfall and lagoon by the house, hiked to the Montezuma waterfall and swam in the lovely beaches all around Las Rocas and Montezuma. The town of Montezuma was very funky and fun with a lot of good restaurants. We did not rent a car and really enjoyed riding the bus into town. We met alot of nice folks that way. The owner of the house and the caretaker were both so friendly and helpful. We cannot wait to go back!

I stayed for 2 weeks at Casa Las Rocas with my family at the end of March. I would highly recommend this house for rental. The owners Tad and Jana provided excellent communication and helpful advice. The property manager Leanne went above and beyond in helping us. We had done a fundraiser to help a local school and she helped us set that up and organized our visit to the school to provide a new roof and to buy a sink for the school and trim dangerous trees in the school yard. 500 dollars goes along way to helping the local community. The house is ideally situated if you like a quiet, calm area away from the crowds. It was very hot, dry weather during our visit but there was always a cool breeze at the house. The tidal pools and outdoor shower were wonderful for cooling us off. The beaches near the house are interesting and pretty. Playa las Rocas and Playa los Cedros. The property is quite private and an easy distance to Montezuma and Cabuya for all the necessities. We explored the area of from Mal Pais to Manzanillo and visited Curu and Tambor and found the distances easy from the Casa Las Rocas. The neighbour was helpful in directing us to good areas for hiking and wildlife viewing. We explored up the Rio Cedros and found two wonderfully private water falls with deep pools for swimming. We saw troupes of howler monkeys and capuchin monkeys everyday. We would recommend Playa Grande, Cablo Blanco, Curu, and Playa Hermosa tidal pools for seeing flora and fauna. We bought fish from Vin in Cabuya and ate a fabulous meal at Soda Marvin in Cabuya. We also enjoyed eating at Puggos and Cafe Organico in Montezuma. The second week of our stay was during the national holiday of Semana Santa and the area became more crowded and noisy with campers and Tico tourists. We would avoid that week in the future. We enjoyed the neighbours dogs and chickens but some people might not like having them under foot. We saw other properties for rent in the area but we all thought that Casa Las Rocas had the ideal location. The upper bedroom is beautiful and the lower one was well layed out. The kitchen is small but was well equipped and most of the time we were outside on the patio, in the hammacs or on the beach. The property is quite large with beautiful boulders and trees. The rocks out front were ideal for watching the sun rise and for fishing.

Our stay at Las Rocas was beyond what we could have imagined. We went during the rainy season. Guess what, it was beautiful. Warm and sunny. The house was incredible as were the surrounding gardens on the property. Every morning we woke up to an amazing sunrise after sleeping very well. Loved taking our leftovers out to feed the iguana each day. He would watch me, and within 15 min. he was there munching on leftover papaya and such. Our last day there we had a flock of green parrots all around and two huge frogs. One does need a 4x4 vehicle with high suspension to get around to other vicinities. The town of Montezuma was extremely friendly. The owners were wonderful when contacting them. We did a ton of hiking: the falls, Cabuya nature reserve and we left a day early to hike the Arenal Volcano. Our greatest surprise in Montezuma, was releasing baby olive sea turtles at a turtle reserve just north of the town on the beach. We both shed tears leaving our last night. Best vacation ever.

Casa Las Rocas is a must do for anyone who wants the privacy of an unique beachfront home. It offers the convenience of a quick drive to town but is well away from the crowds. There is even pizza delivery for a stormy tropical night. It is reasonably priced and is clearly well loved by it’s owners. The property manager was excellent and ensures your stay is well guided. There is fishing right off the rocks in the front and marvelous beaches, swimming holes and waterfalls very nearby. Since there is only one other house on their little road, the traffic is very limited and almost nonexistent at night. The compound is very secure and parking inside the locked gate with a huge staging area for preparing for day trips. The indoor/outdoor tropical kitchen has everything you need. The upstairs suite with is it's maroon mosquito net is rustic and tropically elegant. The ceiling upstairs is an architectural delight. Thank you so much for sharing your piece of tropical paradise!

My husband and I spent a week for my 40th birthday. I can honestly say I don't think I have ever been so relaxed in my entire life. The property was beautiful. The owner and property manager were amazing to work with, so friendly and accomodating. The house was a little more rustic than we anticipated but within a couple hours we were settled in and right at home. We didn't have a rental car and it worked out perfect, a short walk to town but we mostly used the local cab service. Cab fare was only $6 each way which was much less than a car rental. Eight days of endless waves hitting the rocks out front was amazing!!! We have been home for 2 weeks now and all we can talk about is how we wish we were still sitting on the front porch at Los Casa Rocas....great place!

My husband and I spent a week at Las Rocas, and we couldn't have asked for more. Rustic and cozy it was the best way to spend our time in Costa Rica. Easy walking distance to town, but hard to leave the house since it is so relaxing. Everything we wanted and more!

My husband and I stayed a week at Las Rocas and it was wonderful. It was a bit rainey and stormy but it didn't make any difference to us because it was still beautiful. The upstairs bedroom is huge with a large shower. The bedroom has a rustic jungle feel which is perfect. The grounds of the home are very lush and even though the kichen is on the smaller size when you open the bar area it seems to double it. The kitchen patio area has the feel you are in your own private cantina. . We loved it. The rocks out front on the ocean is a new adventure everyday and the fresh water rivers close to the house with water falle are breath taking. The manager of the property is very helpful and takes care of all your concerns she is great. Thanks for everything. We will be back soon.

My new wife and I recently spent 6 nights at Casa Las Rocas and had an amazing time. The house lived up to all of our expectations. The gardens and surrounding beach are gorgeous, we loved looking for and hanging out in the various tide pools. The walk into Montezuma is a solid 25-30 minutes that we did not mind. We would take cabs at night but during the day we just hiked and enjoyed the scenery. The excursions in town are great by the way. The house was great, we had to adjust to the humidity but that only took a day or so. Keep the fans going and you will have a wonderful time.

We enjoyed a very peaceful couple of days and will miss all of the creatures! The bats and iguana worked overtime to keep all of the bugs at bay, and we enjoyed watching the crabs come out at night. It is quiet and rustic, and a short walk to the craziness in Montezuma. It is the kind of place you want to stay and "do nothing" for days, and we did exactly that! The owner and property managers were extremely helpful and responsive. We would highly recommend staying here - it was the perfect vacation.

Four of us (2 couples) stayed at Las Rocas for one week in April 2010. What a beautiful home! The owner and in-country managers were very helpful, and the house is even more beautiful than in these photos. When we had questions or needed help, we just called on the managers, and they went out of their way for us! The upstairs bedroom was more of a suite, and we had to do a switch of rooms with the other couple halfway through the week so we could all get a chance at living the luxury of upstairs! The breeze of the ocean, lightening storms, crashing waves, incredible moon-tide cycles, and seemingly millions of species of creatures...Laying in the hammock reading for hours...swimming in the ocean felt as warm as a bath, so for a real cool-down the locals, and us, swam in a creek nearby complete with a tarzan swing. We were here during a heat wave, and have never been so hot in all our lives. Don't be afraid of the bats upstairs- remember, they eat the bugs. Be prepared for the very friendly neighbourhood dogs, chickens, and roosters to wander over to the house- very entertaining to look up from your book to seek a rooster wandering by! And look up in the trees at dusk, and you just may see one or many monkeys. Small salamanders were entertaining to watch as they chased the bugs for their supper. The bus to Montezuma was a little hard to catch- infrequent stops- and it was too hot to walk into town, so we rented Scooters! The roads are dirt, bumpy, with many potholes...so we were lucky to not hurt ourselves...but you could also rent an ATV in Montezuma for a higher cost than the Scooter, but likely safer. Having the Scooter allowed us to tour the area with the wind in our hair. We went to Santa Teresa, a local surfing town, bigger than Montezuma; Malpais, Cabuya, etc. Great food in Montezuma at the local organic coffee houses. Was equally great being able to cook for ourselves at the house and save some money. We left behind a boogie board that we contemplated bringing home to Canada where we live nowhere near any waves...so we hope others will enjoy! There are many books upstairs to read- I read 2 novels, and was very grateful for them on those days I just felt like curling up with a book and the one I brought was already finished. We would definitely recommend Las Rocas to others, and we would come here again! Thank you for sharing your home with us.
